The results show that the peak stress decreases with increasing deformation temperatures and decreasing strain rate. The average deformation activation energy is 185 kJ/mol in the parameter range investigated. The flow stress model was constructed. The main softening mechanism is dynamic recovery. The processing map was obtained using dynamic material model, and the suggested processing window is 400-440℃ and 0.001-0.1 s^-1.展开更多

The results show that adjusting and optimizing temperature field appropriately is an effective method to obtain welded joint with better microstructure and property.展开更多

The welding process was stable, and appearance of weld formed well without surface defect under the parameters of welding current 121 A, welding voltage 15.4 V and welding speed 6 r/min. The microstructure of fiUer metal was analyzed by means of scanning electron microscopy. The filler metal and 6061 Al alloy were fused to form fusion welding interface, the fusion zone had a good bonding without any micro defect. The steel stud did not melt and brazing interface was formed between the filler metal and steel stud. Two different reaction layers existed in the brazing interface, the Fe2Al5 layer about 10 -12 p^m formed near the steel stud side, and the other layer was mainly composed of FeAl3. Nickel-rich zone was formed in the root toe area of the fillet weld, which was mainly composed of Al3Ni2. The tensile tests showed that the maximum shearing strength of the joints was 129 MPa. The joint was brittle fractured in the intermetallic compound layer where plenty of FeAl3 were distributed continuously.展开更多

Both of this new refilling technique and conventional friction stir spot welding (FSSW) process were used to weld A1 6061-T6 lap shear specimens and the results were compared. Effects of tool rotational speeds on mechanical and metallurgical properties in both the cases were studied. Static shear strength of refilled weld samples was found to be better than those welded by conventional FSSW process at all tool rotational speeds. This is explained in terms of effective increase in cross-sectional area of weld nugget due to addition of more material from filler plate, thereby eliminating the probe hole. Failure mechanisms were discussed and fracture surfaces were analyzed through scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The hardness profile of the welds exhibited a W-shaped appearance in both the processes and the minimum hardness was measured in the HAZ.展开更多
