In the field of scientific and technological discourse power, external mainstream media dominate the orientation of public opinion and bear the responsibility of maintaining national image. This paper takes the report on C919 in China Daily as an example and analyzes emotion and theme based on Vader and LDA thematic models respectively, which reflects the interdisciplinary characteristics of linguistics, journalism communication, and computer science. The three main features of China Daily’s report on the “C919” are high attention, full publicity, significant emotional fluctuations due to the impact of major related events;objective headlines as a whole, and significant positive emotions in the text;in terms of theme selection, it highlights the technology and achievements of C919 as well as the institutional advantages of socialism with Chinese characteristics, with obvious political and cultural features. This will provide some enlightenment for the construction of the national external discourse system of science and technology.展开更多
