The characters with the nearest resemblance are Fortunata （Trimalchio＇s wife） and Myrtle （Tom Buchanan＇s mistress）. Fortunata＇s presentation stands out several elements which mark her by degradation, the same sort of elements which is possible to observe in Myrtle＇s description. Among these qualities, there are the violence and the ugliness shown in their physical and psychological portrayal, exhibited on the way they dress and behave in the social gatherings in which they take part. These features are also showed in the manner they are treated by their men. Fitzgerald also shows his characters--male or female in a very similar manner. The women, in both books, are not presented in a flattering way, for sure, but they are not also presented as inferior beings. Wherefore the ancient piece can be once more approximate from modern narratives and this fact reflects in its reception and on the clear, and timeless, influence it has on literature in general as in the case of Fitzgerald＇s novel.展开更多

[Objectives]Through data mining and analysis,the medication characters and ideas of ye Tianshi,a famous physician in Qing Dynasty,in the treatment of tinnitus were explored,so as to provide reference for clinical tinn...[Objectives]Through data mining and analysis,the medication characters and ideas of ye Tianshi,a famous physician in Qing Dynasty,in the treatment of tinnitus were explored,so as to provide reference for clinical tinnitus treatment.[Methods]The medical records of Ye Tianshi's treatment of tinnitus in the Ancient and Modern Consilia Cloud Platform were retrieved and sorted,and the use frequency,properties,metabolic organ and compatibility of related Chinese herbs in the cases were analyzed through system-integrated statistical analysis,cluster analysis,association rules analysis and complex network analysis.[Results]A total of 46 medical cases were finally included,with 15 frequently used Chinese herbs,including poria with hostwood,Radix Rehmanniae Preparata,magnetitum,etc.Most of the drugs are cold and neutral in nature,sweet and bitter in taste,and metabolized in liver and heart.The results of cluster analysis show that the therapeutic drugs for tinnitus are mainly divided into four categories:strengthening spleen,nourishing yin,suppressing symptoms,and clearing heat.The results of association rules analysis show that the commonly used traditional Chinese medicine combination is composed of three herbs,poria with hostwood,Radix Ophiopogonis,and Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae,which have spleen-strengthening and stomach-tonifying effects.The results of complex network analysis show that the core prescription is based on Siwu Decoction.[Conclusions]In the treatment of tinnitus,Ye Tianshi paid attention to the three internal organs of heart,kidney and gallbladder,and made good use of lung qi-dispersing drugs to clear heat,sweet and cold drugs to tonify stomach and nourish yin,and tonic drugs to suppress symptoms.The core prescription is mainly composed of Radix Rehmanniae,Radix Rehmanniae Preparata,oyster,poria with hostwood,Fructus Forsythiae,Radix Paeoniae Alba,antelope horn,magnetitum and Radix Asparagi.The commonly used single herbs are poria with hostwood,Radix Rehmanniae Preparata and magnetitum.The combination of poria with hostwood,Radix Ophiopogonis and Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae is more common.展开更多

Over the past 15 years,the Paleoanthropological and Paleolithic team from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology(IVPP),Chinese Academy of Sciences,has made significant progress in understanding...Over the past 15 years,the Paleoanthropological and Paleolithic team from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology(IVPP),Chinese Academy of Sciences,has made significant progress in understanding modern human origins and evolution through extensive fieldwork,fossil and artifact discoveries,and cutting-edge ancient molecular analysis.The new fossil findings from Hualongdong,Xuchang,the first report on Harbin,and the reevaluations of previously found fossils like Xujiayao revealed high population diversity in East Asia during the late Middle Pleistocene,implying multiple evolutionary lineages linked to modern humans,Neanderthals,or Denisovans.Different species names were proposed for these unique fossils.Discoveries from Zhiren Cave and Fuyan Cave refreshed our knowledge of modern human emergence in China,sparking debates between the“Recent African Origin”and“Multiregional Evolution”hypothesis.Additionally,new archaeological evidence from Nwya Devu and Xiamabei highlighted human adaptations to extreme climates and technological innovations.Genomic studies further revealed complex patterns of modern human dispersal,admixture,and adaptation in China,especially in the past 40,000 years.The first mitochondrial DNA of Denisovan outside Denisova Cave was successfully extracted from the sediments on the Plateau,suggesting the long-term occupation of this population in this area.展开更多
