The report also stressed that building an ecological civilization is vital to sustaining the Chinese nation's development. Against such a backdrop, it is necessary to analyze the "building of an ecological civilization" from three directions, i.e. satisfying people's requirement for a better life, fulfilling the goal of the Beautiful China Initiative and taking the lead in global ecological governance.
