To address these challenges, this work proposes a dualfunction zinc anode protective layer, composed of Zn-Al-In layered double oxides(ILDO) by rationally designing Zn-Al layered double hydroxides(Zn-Al LDHs) for the first time. Differing from previous works on the LDHs coatings, firstly, the ILDO layer accelerates zinc-ion desolvation and also captures and anchors SO_(4)^(2-). Secondly, the in-situ formation of the Zn-In alloy phase effectively lowers the nucleation energy barrier, thereby regulating zinc nucleation. Consequently, the zinc anode with the ILDO protective layer demonstrates long-term stability exceeding 1900 h and low voltage hysteresis of 7.5 m V at 0.5 m A cm^(-2) and 0.5 m A h cm^(-2). Additionally, it significantly enhances the rate capability and cycling performance of Zn@ILDO//MnO_(2) full batteries and Zn@ILDO//activated carbon zinc-ion hybrid capacitors. This simple and effective dual-function protective layer strategy offers a promising approach for achieving high-performance zinc-ion batteries.展开更多

The original column specimen was designed to comply with older(pre-1999) design standards so that the usual detailing defi ciencies in existing school buildings in Taiwan could be simulated. Two different structural details were chosen to fabricate the full-scale specimens for each retrofi tting technique. The study confi rmed that either RC jacketing or the installation of wing walls with two different structural details can effectively improve the stiffness and strength of an existing column. RC jacketing shows a better improvement in energy dissipation and ductility when compared to the columns with wing walls installed. This is because the two RC jacketed columns experienced a fl exural failure, while a shear failure was found in the two columns with the wing walls installed, and thus led to a drastic decrease of the maximum lateral strengths and ductility. Since many factors may affect the installation of a post-installed anchor, it is better to use standard hooks to replace post-installed anchors in some specifi c points when using RC jacketing or installing wing walls.展开更多

For such level of accuracy, Range-free localization techniques are being explored as low cost alternatives to range based localization techniques. To manage cost, few location aware nodes, called anchors are deployed in the wireless sensor environment. It is from these anchors that all other free nodes are expected to estimate their own positions. This paper therefore, takes a look at some of the foremost Range-free localization algorithms, detailing their limitations, with a view to proposing a modified form of Centroid Localization Algorithm called Reach Centroid Localization Algorithm. The algorithm employs a form of anchor nodes position validation mechanism by looking at the consistency in the quality of Received Signal Strength. Each anchor within the vicinity of a free node seeks to validate the actual position or proximity of other anchors within its vicinity using received signal strength. This process mitigates multipath effects of radio waves, particularly in an enclosed environment, and consequently limits localization estimation errors and uncertainties. Centroid Localization Algorithm is then used to estimate the location of a node using the anchors selected through the validation mechanism. Our approach to localization becomes more significant, particularly in indoor environments, where radio signal signatures are inconsistent or outrightly unreliable. Simulated results show a significant improvement in localization accuracy when compared with the original Centroid Localization Algorithm, Approximate Point in Triangulation and DV-Hop.展开更多

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the clinical outcome after surgical repair of the dorsal capsulo-ligamentous complex. Materials and methods: Eight patients with a mean age of 39.8 years (range, 23 - 56 years) treated for the thumb CMC joint were treated in our hospital between 2008 and 2018. The ruptured dorsal capsulo-ligamentous complex was repaired using suture anchors in all patients, and the joint was immobilized with a Kirschner wire pinning and splint for 3 weeks. The clinical outcome was assessed by measuring the range of motion of the thumb CMC joint and the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand version of the Quick Disability of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (Q-DASH-JSSH) score. Results: The mean radial abduction of the thumb CMC joint was 66°, and the volar abduction was 63°. The mean Q-DASH-JSSH score was 4.8 (range, 0 - 15.6). There were no cases of infection, nerve disturbance, or osteoarthritis. Anatomical reduction was observed in seven patients at the final follow-up and in a rugby football player at 6 months of follow-up;however, subluxation of the thumb CMC joint at 12 months of follow-up due to reinjury was observed. Conclusion: Surgical repair of the dorsal capsulo-ligamentous complex with suture anchors is a reliable and simple treatment for acute unstable dislocation of the thumb CMC joint.展开更多

METHODS In this retrospective study, we reviewed the results of pectoralis major repair in 11 chronic cases(> 6 wk) done between September 2011 and December 2014 at our institute. In all cases repair was done by same surgeon using corkscrew suture anchors and box suture sliding technique. At 6 mo, after surgery magnetic resonance imaging was done to see the integrity of the repair. Functional evaluation was done using Penn and ASES scores. Pre and postoperative Isokinetic strength was measured.RESULTS Average follow-up was 48.27 ± 21.0 mo. The Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to evaluate the outcome scores. The average ASES score increased from an average of 54.63 ± 13.0 preoperatively to 95.09 ± 2.60 after surgery at their last follow-up. The average Penn score also increased from 5.72 ± 0.78, 2.81 ± 1.32 and 45.81 ± 1.72 to 9.36 ± 0.80, 8.27 ± 0.90 and 59 ± 1.34 for pain, satisfaction and function respectively. Follow up magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)(at 6 mo) showed continuity and the bulk of pectoralis major muscle in all cases. Average isokinetic strength deficiency in horizontal adduction at 60° was 13.63% ± 6.93% and at 120° was 10.18% ± 4.93% and in flexion at 60° was 10.72% ± 5.08% and at 120° was 6.63% + 3.74%. Results showed that both ASES and Penn score improved significantly(2 tailed P value = 0.0036).CONCLUSION We could conclude from this series that pectoralis major repair even in chronic cases using 5.5 mm corkscrew anchors give excellent functional and cosmetic results. In chronic cases the repairable length of the tendon is not available and sliding suture technique allows for fixation of worn out tendomuscular junction to bone without letting cutting through the muscle.展开更多

Since many factors may affect the installation of a post-installed anchor, it is better to use standard hooks to replace post-installed anchors in some specifi c points when using RC jacketing or installing wing walls.
文摘As much as accurate or precise position estimation is always desirable, coarse accuracy due to sensor node localization is often sufficient. Simulated results show a significant improvement in localization accuracy when compared with the original Centroid Localization Algorithm, Approximate Point in Triangulation and DV-Hop.

文摘The six-degree-of-freedom movement of an offshore plate anchor is essential to evaluate anchor performance. As an emerging technology, magnetometer has shown its potential in measuring the six-degree-of-freedom movement of offshore anchors under 1-g model laboratory tests. The paper presents the feasibility of adopting a magnetometer system in geotechnical centrifuge testing.Interference factors that may affect the measuring accuracy of the magnetometer system are investigated. The results demonstrate that the magnetometer system can accurately catch the anchor movement in the soils with the restrictions of:(1)the model anchor was made with stainless steel;(2)the system was placed at least 30 cm away from the side wall of soil model tank;(3)started the measurement when the artificial acceleration by centrifuge was stable.

文摘Considering the fact that in some complex cases, plate anchors are buried in multi-layered geotechnical materials, the ultimate dynamic analysis was performed to investigate the uplift capacity and failure mechanism of shallow strips and circular plate anchors in multi-layered soils. The nonlinear strength criterion and non-associated flow rule of geotechnical materials were introduced to investigate the influence of nonuniformity on the pullout performance and failure mechanism of shallow plate anchors. The expressions of the detaching curves or surfaces were obtained to reflect the failure mechanism, which can be used to figure out the ultimate uplift capacity and failure range. The results are generally in agreement with the numerical simulations and previous research. The effects of various parameters on the ultimate uplift capacity and failure mechanism of plate anchors in multi-layered soils were investigated, and it is found that the ultimate uplift capacity and failure range of shallow anchors increase with the increase of initial cohesion and dilatancy coefficient, but decrease with the unit weight, axial tensile stress and nonlinear coefficient.
文摘The paper introduces the important developments of Wave Energy Converters (WECs) in the UK, and the generic an- chor types for WECs and similar structures. Several WECs and their characteristics are introduced to explain the development direction. The anchors are discussed in relation to the behaviour and performance of WECs, and comparisons are made with simi- lar aspects of the offshore industry. Typical and desirable features of anchors for WECs are summarized. Additionally, expectations and research suggestions for WECs and their anchor design are presented.
文摘Background: Acute dislocation of the thumb carpometacarpal (CMC) joint is a rare and challenging injury, and its treatment remains controversial. Conclusion: Surgical repair of the dorsal capsulo-ligamentous complex with suture anchors is a reliable and simple treatment for acute unstable dislocation of the thumb CMC joint.

文摘Layered soil profiles create challenges for foundation installation and detrimentally affect the foundation performance. This research explored the free-fall penetration behavior of a new dynamically installed plate anchor, the Flying Wing Anchor?,in layered soil profiles. This new concept anchor combines the advantages of low-cost installation of torpedo piles and high efficiency of plate anchors.Anchor is initially installed through free-fall like a torpedo pile, and followed by drag embedment like a plate anchor. The methodology is to perform free-fall penetration tests with a model anchor in a variety of test beds containing marine clays with different profiles of undrained shear strength versus depth.A calibrated prediction model accounting for the effects of strain-rate and stiff layer produces results similar to those from the model test. The design curves were developed based on the calibrated analytical model, and are valuable to estimate the impact velocity thresholds of prototype anchor to penetrate through stiff layers. The free-fall penetration tests indicated that the penetration ability of FWA?increases with the increased impact velocity. This new dynamically embedded plate anchor can penetrate through the stiff layers that would cause problems for the conventional plate anchor, such as the drag embedded anchor, plowing on the top of stiff layer instead of breaking into it.Therefore, the new dynamically embedded plate anchor can provide a possible solution for layered soil profiles in deep water.

文摘With the rising needs of better prediction of the load-displacement performance of grouted anchors in an era of developing large-scale underground infrastructures, the existing methods in literature lack an accurate analytical model for the real-life projects or rigorous understanding of the parameters such as grouting pressures. This paper proposes Fast ICA-MARS as a novel data-driven approach for the prediction of the load-displacement performance of uplift-resisting grouted anchors. The hybrid and data-driven Fast ICA-MARS approach integrates the multivariate adaptive regression splines(MARS)technique with the Fast ICA algorithm which is for Independent Component Analysis(ICA).A database of 4315 observations for 479 different anchors from 7 different projects is established. The database is then used to train, validate and compare the Fast ICA-MARS approach with the classical MARS approach. The developed Fast ICA-MARS model can provide more accurate predictions than MARS.Moreover, the developed Fast ICA-MARS model is easy to interpret since the evaluation of the parameter importance of the independent components can be conducted along with the considerations of the correlations with the original variables. It is noteworthy to point out that the grouting pressures play a central role in the proposed model, which is considered of paramount importance in engineering practices but has not been properly taken into account in any prior analytical or empirical predictive models for the load-displacement relationships.

文摘Helical anchor is a kind of novel foundation for floating offshore wind turbines, which should be subjected to combined tensile loading caused by wind, wave and current. However, the research about the capacity of helical anchor was mainly examined under uniaxial loading and scarcely explored under combined loading. In this study,three-dimensional finite element limit analysis is adopted to assess the bearing capacities of single-plate rigid helical anchors with different ratios of helix to shaft diameter,D_(H)/D_(S) and embedment ratios L/D_(S).Result shows that the vertical, horizontal and moment bearing capacities increase with increasing D_(H)/D_(S) and L/D_(S).The normalized V-H failure envelopes expands with increasing L/D_(S),while the normalized V-M failure envelopes tend to contract with the increase of D_(H)/D_(S).With increasing D_(H)/D_(S) or decreasing L/D_(S),the normalized H-M failure envelopes expand when the horizontal and moment loading act in the same direction and contract when they act in the opposite direction. The effect of D_(H)/D_(S) and L/D_(S) on the shape of H-M failure envelope become insignificant when L/D_(S)≥4.A series of failure mechanisms under different loading conditions were observed and can be used to explain the trend.Besides,a series of approximate expressions were proposed to fit the uniaxial bearing capacities and the failure envelopes.
文摘AIM To assess the functional and clinical results of repair of chronic tears of pectoralis major using corkscrew and sliding suture technique. In chronic cases the repairable length of the tendon is not available and sliding suture technique allows for fixation of worn out tendomuscular junction to bone without letting cutting through the muscle.

文摘To predict the tensile capacity of adhesive anchors, a multilayered feed-forward neural network trained with the back-propagation algorithm is constructed. The ANN model have 5 inputs, including the compressive strength of concrete, tensile strength of concrete, anchor diameter, hole diameter, embedment of anchors, and ultimate load. The predictions obtained from the trained ANN show a good agreement with the experiments. Meanwhile, the predicted ultimate tensile capacity of anchors is close to the one calculated from the strength formula of the combined cone-bond failure model.
