This technique re...The recently developed magic-intensity trapping technique of neutral atoms efficiently mitigates the detrimental effect of light shifts on atomic qubits and substantially enhances the coherence time. This technique relies on applying a bias magnetic field precisely parallel to the wave vector of a circularly polarized trapping laser field. However, due to the presence of the vector light shift experienced by the trapped atoms, it is challenging to precisely define a parallel magnetic field, especially at a low bias magnetic field strength, for the magic-intensity trapping of85Rb qubits. In this work, we present a method to calibrate the angle between the bias magnetic field and the trapping laser field with the compensating magnetic fields in the other two directions orthogonal to the bias magnetic field direction. Experimentally, with a constantdepth trap and a fixed bias magnetic field, we measure the respective resonant frequencies of the atomic qubits in a linearly polarized trap and a circularly polarized one via the conventional microwave Rabi spectra with different compensating magnetic fields and obtain the corresponding total magnetic fields via the respective resonant frequencies using the Breit–Rabi formula. With known total magnetic fields, the angle is a function of the other two compensating magnetic fields. Finally, the projection value of the angle on either of the directions orthogonal to the bias magnetic field direction can be reduced to 0(4)° by applying specific compensating magnetic fields. The measurement error is mainly attributed to the fluctuation of atomic temperature. Moreover, it also demonstrates that, even for a small angle, the effect is strong enough to cause large decoherence of Rabi oscillation in a magic-intensity trap. Although the compensation method demonstrated here is explored for the magic-intensity trapping technique, it can be applied to a variety of similar precision measurements with trapped neutral atoms.展开更多

文摘In an effort to investigate and quantify the patterns of local scour, researchers embarked on an in-depth study using a systematic experimental approach. The research focused on the effects of local scour around a set of four piles, each subjected to different hydromechanical conditions. In particular, this study aimed to determine how different attack angles—the angles at which the water flow impinges on the piles, and gap ratios—the ratios of the spacing between the piles to their diameters, influence the extent and nature of scour.A comprehensive series of 35 carefully designed experiments were orchestrated, each designed to dissect the nuances in how the gap ratio and attack angle might contribute to changes in the local scour observed at the base of pile groups.During these experimental trials,a wealth of local scour data were collected to support the analysis. These data included precise topographic profiles of the sediment bed around the pile groups,as well as detailed scour time histories showing the evolution of scour at strategic feature points throughout the test procedure. The analysis of the experimental data provided interesting insights. The study revealed that the interplay between the gap ratio and the attack angle had a pronounced influence on the scouring dynamics of the pile groups. One of the key observations was that the initial phases of scour, particularly within the first hour of water flow exposure, were characterized by a sharp increase in the scour depth occurring immediately in front of the piles. After this initial rapid development, the scour depth transitioned to a more gradual change rate.In contrast, the scour topography around the piles continuously evolved. This suggests that sediment displacement and the associated sculpting of the seabed around pile foundations are sustained and progressive processes, altering the underwater landscape over time. The results of this empirical investigation have significant implications for the design and construction of offshore multi-pile foundations, providing a critical reference for engineers and designers to estimate the expected scour depth around such structures, which is an integral part of decisions regarding foundation design, selection of structural materials, and implementation of scour protection measures.

文摘The recently developed magic-intensity trapping technique of neutral atoms efficiently mitigates the detrimental effect of light shifts on atomic qubits and substantially enhances the coherence time. Although the compensation method demonstrated here is explored for the magic-intensity trapping technique, it can be applied to a variety of similar precision measurements with trapped neutral atoms.

文摘Controlling the epitaxial growth mode of semiconductor layers is crucial for optimizing material properties and device performance. In this work, the growth mode ofα-Ga_(2)O_(3) heteroepitaxial layers was modulated by tuning miscut angles(θ)from 0°to 7°off the(1010)direction of sapphire(0002)substrate.On flat sapphire surfaces, the growth undergoes a typical three-dimensional(3D)growth mode due to the random nucleation on wide substrate terraces,as evidenced by the hillock morphology and high dislocation densities. As the miscut angle increases toθ=5°,the terrace width of sapphire substrate is comparable to the distance between neighboring nuclei, and consequently, the nucleation is guided by terrace edges, which energetically facilitates the growth mode transition into the desirable two-dimensional(2D)coherent growth.Consequently, the mean surface roughness decreases to only 0.62 nm,accompanied by a significant reduction in screw and edge dislocations to 0.16×10^(7) cm^(-2)and 3.58×10^(9) cm^(-2),respectively.However,the further increment of miscut angles toθ=7°shrink the terrace width less than nucleation distance, and the step-bunching growth mode is dominant. In this circumstance, the misfit strain is released in the initial growth stage, resulting in surface morphology degradation and increased dislocation densities.

文摘Manipulating strain mode and degree that can be applied to epitaxial complex oxide thin films have been a cornerstone of strain engineering. In recent years,lift-off and transfer technology of the epitaxial oxide thin films have been developed that enabled the integration of heterostructures without the limitation of material types and crystal orientations. Moreover, twisted integration would provide a more interesting strategy in artificial magnetoelectric heterostructures.A specific twist angle between the ferroelectric and ferromagnetic oxide layers corresponds to the distinct strain regulation modes in the magnetoelectric coupling process, which could provide some insight in to the physical phenomena. In this work, the La_(0.67)Sr_(0.33)MnO_(3)(001)/0.7Pb(Mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)-0.3PbTiO_(3)(011)(LSMO/PMN-PT)heterostructures with 45.and 0.twist angles were assembled via water-etching and transfer process. The transferred LSMO films exhibit a fourfold magnetic anisotropy with easy axis along LSMO<110>.A coexistence of uniaxial and fourfold magnetic anisotropy with LSMO[110]easy axis is observed for the 45°Sample by applying a 7.2 kV cm^(−1)electrical field, significantly different from a uniaxial anisotropy with LSMO[100]easy axis for the 0°Sample.The fitting of the ferromagnetic resonance field reveals that the strain coupling generated by the 45°twist angle causes different lattice distortion of LSMO,thereby enhancing both the fourfold and uniaxial anisotropy. This work confirms the twisting degrees of freedom for magnetoelectric coupling and opens opportunities for fabricating artificial magnetoelectric heterostructures.

文摘Water-coupled charge blasting is a promising technique to efficiently break rock masses. In this study, numerical models of double boreholes with water-coupled charge are established using LS-DYNA and are calibrated by the tests of rock masses subjected to explosion loads to examine its performance. The crack levels of rock mass induced by water-coupled charge blasting and air-coupled charge blasting are first compared. It is found that water-coupled charge blasting is more appropriate to fracture deep rock mass than air-coupled charge blasting. In addition, the effects of rock properties,water-coupled charge coefficients, and borehole connection angles on the performance of water-coupled charge blasting are investigated. The results show that rock properties and water-coupled charge coefficients can greatly influence the crack and fragmentation levels of rock mass induced by water-coupled charge blasting under uniform and non-uniform in-situ stresses. However, changing borehole-connection angles can only affect crack and fragmentation levels of rock mass under non-uniform in-situ stresses but barely affect those under uniform in-situ stresses.A formula is finally proposed by considering the above-mentioned factors to provide the design suggestion of water-coupled charge blasting to fracture rock mass with different in-situ stresses.

文摘Flag leaf angle is one of the key target traits in high yield wheat breeding.A smaller flag leaf angle reduces shading and enables plants to grow at a higher density, which increases yield. Here we identified a mutant,je0407,with an 84.34%-89.35%smaller flag leaf angle compared with the wild type. The mutant also had an abnormal lamina joint and no ligule or auricle.Genetic analysis indicated that the ligule was controlled by two recessive genes, which were mapped to chromosomes 2AS and 2DL.The mutant allele on chromosome 2AS was named Tafla1b,and it was fine mapped to a 1 Mb physical interval. The mutant allele on chr.2DL was identified as Taspl8b,a novel allele of TaSPL8 with a missense mutation in the second exon, which was used to develop a cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence marker.F3 and F4 lines derived from crosses between Jing411 and je0407 were genotyped to investigate interactions between the Tafla1b and Taspl8b alleles.Plants with the Tafla1b/Taspl8a genotype had 58.41%-82.76%smaller flag leaf angles,6.4%-24.9%shorter spikes, and a greater spikelet density(0.382 more spikelets per cm)compared with the wild type.Plants with the Tafla1a/Taspl8b genotype had 52.62%-82.24%smaller flag leaf angles and no differences in plant height or spikelet density compared with the wild type.Tafla1b/Taspl8b plants produced erect leaves with an abnormal lamina joint. The two alleles had dosage effects on ligule formation and flag leaf angle, but no significant effect on thousand-grain weight. The mutant alleles provide novel resources for improvement of wheat plant architecture.

文摘Internal solitary waves(ISWs)change the roughness of the sea surface, thus producing dark and bright bands in optical images. However, reasons for changes in imaging characteristics with the solar zenith angle remain unclear. In this paper, the optical imaging pattern of ISWs in sunglint under different zenith angles of the light source is investigated by collecting optical images of ISWs through physical simulation. The experiment involves setting 10 zenith angles of the light source, which are divided into area a the optical images of ISWs in the three areas show dark-bright mode, single bright band, and bright-dark mode, which are consistent with those observed by optical remote sensing. In addition, this study analyzed the percentage of the dark and bright areas of the bands and the change in the relative gray difference and found changes in both areas under different zenith angles of the light source. The MODIS and ASAR images display a similar brightness-darkness distance of the same ISWs.Therefore, the relationship between the brightness-darkness distance and the characteristic half-width of ISWs is determined in accordance with the eKdV theory and the imaging mechanism of ISWs of the SAR image.Overall, the relationship between them in the experiment is almost consistent with the theoretical result.

文摘The stability control of fissured rock is difficult, especially under static and dynamic loads in deep coal mines. In this paper, the dynamic mechanical properties, strain rate evolution and energy dissipation of fissured and anchored rocks were respectively obtained by SHPB tests. It was found that bolt can provide supporting efficiency-improving effect for fissured rock against dynamic disturbance, and this effect increased quadratically with decrease in anchoring angles. Then, the energy dissipation mechanism of anchored rock was obtained by slipping model.Furthermore, bolt energy-absorbing mechanism by instantaneous tensile-shear deformation was expressed based on material mechanics, which was the larger the anchoring angle, the smaller the energy absorption, and the less the contribution to supporting efficiency improvement. On this basis, the functional relationship between energy dissipation of anchored rock and energy absorption of bolt was established.Taking the coal-gangue separation system of Longgu coal mine as an example, the optimal anchoring angle can be determined as 57.5°–67.5°.Field monitoring showed fissured rock with the optimal anchoring angle, can not only effectively control the deformation, but also fully exert the energy-absorbing and efficiency-improving effect of bolt itself. This study provides guidance to the stability control and supporting design for deep engineering under the same or similar conditions.

文摘“Magnetic window”is considered as an effective method to solve the communication blackout issue.COMSOL software package based on the finite element method is utilized to simulate the propagation of right-handed circularly polarized wave in the magnetized plasma sheath. We assume a double Gaussian model of electron density and an exponential attenuation model of magnetic field. The propagation characteristics of right-handed circularly polarized wave are analyzed by the observation of the reflected, transmitted and loss coefficient. The numerical results show that the propagation of right-handed circularly polarized wave in the magnetized plasma sheath varies for different incident angles, collision frequencies,non-uniform magnetic fields and non-uniform plasma densities. We notice that reducing the wave frequency can meet the propagation conditions of whistle mode in the weak magnetized plasma sheath. And the transmittance of whistle mode is less affected by the variation of the electron density and the collision frequency. It can be used as a communication window.

文摘To study the damage and failure of shale with different fracture inclination angles under uniaxial compression loading,in this work,RFPA2D-Thermal,a two-dimensional real failure process analysis software, was used for numerical simulation.Numerical simulation results show that quartz in shale mainly affects the tensile and compressive strength of shale by increasing rock brittleness. The coupling of temperature and pressure will cause lateral and volume destruction of shale, which enables the shale body to be more easily broken.Fracture inclination is the key factor affecting shale damage patterns. The failure mode of shale with low-and high-angle fractures is mainly shear failure, and the compressive strength does not vary with crack inclination. The damage mode of obliquely intersecting fractured shale is slip damage along the fracture face, the compressive strength decreases and then increases with the fracture inclination, and a minimum value exists. The acoustic emission simulation results of the damage process effectively reflect the accumulated internal damage and macroscopic crack appearance until fracture instability when the prefabricated fractured shale is subjected to uniaxial compressive loading. The crack inclinations of 0°and 120℃ corresponds to the most complex"N"shape damage mode. The crack inclinations of 30°and 60°,and the damage mode is an inverted"λ"shape.

文摘The low-wavenumber components in the gradient of full waveform inversion(FWI)play a vital role in the stability of the inversion. However, when FWI is implemented in some high frequencies and current models are not far away from the real velocity model,an excessive number of low-wavenumber components in the gradient will also reduce the convergence rate and inversion accuracy. To solve this problem, this paper firstly derives a formula of scattering angle weighted gradient in FWI,then proposes a hybrid gradient. The hybrid gradient combines the conventional gradient of FWI with the scattering angle weighted gradient in each inversion frequency band based on an empirical formula derived herein.Using weighted hybrid mode,we can retain some low-wavenumber components in the initial lowfrequency inversion to ensure the stability of the inversion, and use more high-wavenumber components in the high-frequency inversion to improve the convergence rate. The results of synthetic data experiment demonstrate that compared to the conventional FWI,the FWI based on the proposed hybrid gradient can effectively reduce the low-wavenumber components in the gradient under the premise of ensuring inversion stability. It also greatly enhances the convergence rate and inversion accuracy, especially in the deep part of the model. And the field marine seismic data experiment also illustrates that the FWI based on hybrid gradient(HGFWI)has good stability and adaptability.

文摘Cavitation is a common issue in pumps, causing a decrease in pump head,a fall in volumetric efficiency, and an intensification of outlet flow pulsation. It is one of the main hazards that affect the regular operation of the pump.Research on pump cavitation mainly focuses on mixed flow pumps, jet pumps, external spur gear pumps, etc. However, there are few cavitation studies on external herringbone gear pumps. In addition, pumps with different working principles significantly differ in the flow and complexity of the internal flow field. Therefore,it is urgent to study the cavitation characteristics of external herringbone gear pumps.Compared with experimentalmethods, visual research and cavitation area identification are achieved through computation fluid dynamic(CFD),and changing the boundary conditions and shape of the gear rotor is easier. The simulation yields a head error of only 0.003%under different grid numbers, and the deviation between experimental and simulation results is less than 5%.The study revealed that cavitation causes flow pulsation at the outlet, and the cavitation serious area is mainly distributed in the meshing gap and meshing area.Cavitation can be inhibited by reducing the speed, increasing the inlet pressure, and changing the helix angle can be achieved. For example, when the inlet pressure is 5 bar,the maximumgas volume fraction in themeshing area is less than 50%.These results provide a reference for optimizing the design and finding the optimal design parameters to reduce or eliminate cavitation.

文摘Water freezing in rock fractures causes volumetric expansion and fracture development through frost heaving. This study introduces a novel analytical model to investigate how uneven freezing force and surrounding rock pressure influence fracture initiation, based on mass conservation, elasticity, and water-ice phase transition principles.A model for rock fracture initiation considering freezing temperature, uneven freezing expansion,in-situ stress, and lateral pressure was proposed based on fracture mechanics.Equations for stress intensity factors were developed and validated using the phase field method. The effects of rock elastic modulus anisotropy and critical fracture energy density on fracture initiation were also discussed. The results show that the values of KI and KII exhibit an upward trend as the freezing temperature, uneven expansion,in-situ stress, and lateral pressure increase. The uneven freezing expansion has the most significant influence on KI and KII values among these parameters. As the uneven freezing expansion coefficient increases to 0.5,the fracture initiation mode shifts from tensile fracture to shear fracture. As the lateral pressure coefficient increases to 1,the fracture initiation mode shifts from tensile fracture to shear fracture.Rock elastic modulus anisotropy causes fractures to propagate in a clockwise direction, forming a'butterfly'pattern.Critical fracture energy density an isotropy causes counterclockwise deviation in propagation direction, resulting in branching paths and an'H'-shaped pattern.
