The evolution of technology in 1990s resulted in the enormous growth of smartphones and the propagation of mobile applications (App) that marked new opportunities for healthcare centers and medical education. Apps have altered health services from patient’s health monitoring to specialist’s appointments and consultations from specialized health facilities. It can be argued that a healthy society can bring forth sustainable economic development to its full potential while an unhealthy society cannot. However, a free movement of people, labour and right to residence which was built across East Africa (EA) borders enabled Tanzania and Kenya borders to have enormous interactions. Subsequently, increase the risk of highly communicable diseases such as Tuberculosis and Sexually transmitted infections in such a way that medical attention is unavoidable along the borders. Statistically, Android Operating System (OS) owns 83% of Africa’s mobile OS market. In addition, 25,794,560 internet users reported by Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) together with the 22.86 million internet users provided by Kenya Digital which is equivalent to 46% and 43% of internet penetration in year 2020, disclose the need for Android mobile application for mapping health facilities both online and offline using Google map API, which will solve residents’ need to healthcare services on the presence or shortage of internet connections;using either Swahili or English language via Smartphone devices. The App incorporates Monitoring and Evaluation (M & E) tool for tracking application usage which will ease Admin’s task to generate daily and monthly reports in Excel and Comma-Separated Values (CSV) formats. The developed system received positive feedback from EA citizens and residents in the Arusha region and Namanga border crossing where 90.2% of the system evaluation conducted between Dec 2020 and Apr 2021 agreed upon App usage. 展开更多

结核病患者手机应用程序督导服药的应用及其影响因素

目的分析上海市2021年新发非利福平耐药肺结核患者手机应用程序(application,APP)督导服药的应用情况及其影响因素,为进一步优化手机APP督导管理方式的应用策略提供依据。方法通过易督导患者管理系统(e-Patient Service System,e-PSS)... 目的分析上海市2021年新发非利福平耐药肺结核患者手机应用程序(application,APP)督导服药的应用情况及其影响因素,为进一步优化手机APP督导管理方式的应用策略提供依据。方法通过易督导患者管理系统(e-Patient Service System,e-PSS)平台收集患者管理数据,通过《中国疾病预防控制信息系统》结核病子系统收集患者性别、年龄组、职业、户籍、病原学结果等信息。对手机APP督导管理应用情况及相关影响因素进行统计分析。采用卡方检验和多因素非条件logistic回归分析结核病患者使用手机APP督导服药的影响因素。结果2021年上海市采用e-PSS平台管理患者2687例,其中使用手机APP督导服药的患者790例,占29.4%。使用手机APP督导服药的患者总体服药率为99.8%,总体规则服药率为99.5%,坚持打卡率为24.1%。多因素分析结果显示,病原学结果阳性(OR值为2.328,95%CI为1.474~3.825)及阴性(OR值为1.699,95%CI为1.067~2.809),年龄60岁及以下(≤20岁、>20~40岁、>40~60岁的OR值分别为11.017、16.864、9.002,95%CI分别为3.793~40.430、6.881~55.914、3.674~29.837),职业为农民(OR值为1.801,95%CI为1.289~2.519)的患者更倾向于使用手机APP进行服药管理。结论结核病患者日常服药管理应针对不同类型人群采用不同的督导管理方式,对于>20~40岁年龄组、病原学阳性、职业为农民、有合并症的结核病患者,社区医生可以优先推荐使用手机APP进行服药管理。 展开更多

Understanding and Detecting Inefficient Image Displaying Issues in Android Apps

Mobile applications(apps for short)often need to display images.However,inefficient image displaying(IID)issues are pervasive in mobile apps,and can severely impact app performance and user experience.This paper first establishes a descriptive framework for the image displaying procedures of IID issues.Based on the descriptive framework,we conduct an empirical study of 216 real-world IID issues collected from 243 popular open-source Android apps to validate the presence and severity of IID issues,and then shed light on these issues’characteristics to support research on effective issue detection.With the findings of this study,we propose a static IID issue detection tool TAPIR and evaluate it with 243 real-world Android apps.Encouragingly,49 and 64 previously-unknown IID issues in two different versions of 16 apps reported by TAPIR are manually confirmed as true positives,respectively,and 16 previously-unknown IID issues reported by TAPIR have been confirmed by developers and 13 have been fixed.Then,we further evaluate the performance impact of these detected IID issues and the performance improvement if they are fixed.The results demonstrate that the IID issues detected by TAPIR indeed cause significant performance degradation,which further show the effectiveness and efficiency of TAPIR. 展开更多
