In order to forecast promising technologies in the field of next generation mobile communication, various patent indicators were analyzed such as citation per patent, patent family information, patent share, increase ...In order to forecast promising technologies in the field of next generation mobile communication, various patent indicators were analyzed such as citation per patent, patent family information, patent share, increase rate, and patent activity. These indicators were quantified into several indexes and then integrated into an evaluation score to provide promising technologies. As a result of the suggested patent analysis, four technologies out of twenty two in details classification were selected, which showed outstanding technology competitiveness, high patent share and increasing rates as well as high recent-patent-ratios and triad-patent-family-ratios. Each of the selected technologies scored more than 10 points in total, and the following four technologies were suggested as promising ones in the field of next generation mobile communication: 1) 3GPP based mobile communication, 2) beyond 4G mobile communication, 3) IEEE 802.16 based mobile communication, which are in medium classification of broadband mobile communication system, and 4) testing/certification system of mobile communication, which is in medium classification of mobile communication testing/certification system.展开更多
It is estimated that only 15 percent of Kenyans have made plans for retirement, and many people fall into poverty once they retire. A 2018 survey by the Unclaimed Property Asset register found that insurance companies...It is estimated that only 15 percent of Kenyans have made plans for retirement, and many people fall into poverty once they retire. A 2018 survey by the Unclaimed Property Asset register found that insurance companies hold 25 percent of unclaimed funds with 10 percent belonging to pensioners. This was attributed to a lack of effective information flow between insurance companies and the customers and also between various departments in the insurance companies. Further, there were numerous cases of loss of documents and files and certain files were untraceable in the departments. This paper investigates ways in which mobile technology influences dissemination of information for processing pension claims in the insurance industry. An improvement in dissemination of information for processing of pension claims can carry out a key function in increasing percentage of Kenyans making plans for retirement. The study deployed a descriptive study design. The target population in this study was 561 pensioners in Jubilee Insurance and 8 heads of pensions business, finance, legal services, internal audit, operations, information and communication technology, actuary, business development and strategy and business development departments. The sample size of this study was obtained by use of Krejcie and Morgan formula of determining sample size. As a result of the small number of heads of departments, they were not sampled. Through systematic sampling a sample of 288 pensioners was selected from the list of pensioners in Jubilee Insurance. The findings from the study led to a conclusion that mobile application has a positive and significant association with dissemination of information for pension claims processing in Jubilee Insurance. It was further revealed that text messages have a positive and significant influence on dissemination of information. Concerning unstructured supplementary service data (USSD) it was concluded that it has a positive and significant influence on dissemination of information. The study findings also revealed that voice calls have a positive and significant influence on dissemination of information for pension claims processing in Jubilee Insurance.展开更多
Based on the UTAUT model,this article introduces three variables including perceived cost,information quality and hedonic motives,and using the level of education as a moderator variable,to build an acceptance model o...Based on the UTAUT model,this article introduces three variables including perceived cost,information quality and hedonic motives,and using the level of education as a moderator variable,to build an acceptance model of mobile information service system in rural area.Based on the household survey obtaining firsthand data of 961 farmers in Jiangsu Province,the study tests the improved UTAUT model by using Amos22.0 software.The results show that compared with the original UTAUT model,improved UTAUT model willingness to accept the explanatory power get further increase(from 49.0%to 61.9%).Performance expectations,social impact,information quality have significant positive influence on accepting intend,hedonic motives have a significant negative impact to accept in-tend,convenient conditions directly affect the use of behavior;gender and level of education has a regulating effect to accept intention.Through further grouping path analysis,the result shows that hedonic motives have broader impacts for women farmers accept mobile information services.Compared with other groups,only farmers with primary education are easily afected by others,and farmers with college education or above are more easily afectede by information quality.Finally,this paper explains the results and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions accordingly.展开更多
BACKGROUND:Developments in information technology(IT)have driven a push in healthcare innovation in the emergency department(ED).Many of these applications rely on mobile technology(MT)such as smartphones but not ever...BACKGROUND:Developments in information technology(IT)have driven a push in healthcare innovation in the emergency department(ED).Many of these applications rely on mobile technology(MT)such as smartphones but not everyone is comfortable with MT usage.Our study aims to characterize the technology usage behavior of users in the ED so as to guide the implementation of IT interventions in the ED.METHODS:A cross-sectional survey was conducted in the emergency department of a tertiary hospital.Patients and their caregivers aged 21 and above were recruited.The survey collected demographic information,technology usage patterns,and participant reported comfort level in the usage of MT.We performed descriptive statistics and multivariate logistic regression to identify factors differentially associated with comfort in usage of MT.RESULTS:A total of 498 participants were recruited,and 299(60%)were patients.English was the most commonly written and read language(66.9%)and 64.2%reported a comfort level of 3/5 or more in using MT.Factors that were associated with being comfortable in using MT include having a tertiary education,being able to read and write English,as well as being a frequent user of IT.Caregivers were more likely to display these characteristics.CONCLUSION:A large proportion of ED patients are not comfortable in the usage of MT.Factors that predicted comfort level in the usage of MT were common amongst caregivers.Future interventions should take this into consideration in the design of MT interventions.展开更多

Technologies and innovations are necessary to ride the inevitable tide of change. Most of enterprises are striving to reduce their computing costs through the means of virtualization. This demand of reducing the computing cost has led to the innovation of cloud computing. Cloud technology offers better computing through improved utilization and reduced administration and infrastructure costs. Cloud computing is the sum of Software as a Service (SaaS) and utility computing. Cloud computing represents a fundamental change in the way computing power is generated and distributed, transforming the delivery of IT tools and products into elastic, on demand services characterized by flexible "pay as you go" payment models. More than half of European Union (EU) businesses and consumers already use some kind of cloud services. As part of assessing the i...Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems have been adopted by healthcare organizations for documentation of patient care. Often these information systems are embedded in mobile nurse stations. As part of assessing the impact of this technology it is important to determine the effect it has on charting compliance and user acceptance. Data were collected at a medical center in Taiwan in two stages. The first stage involved use of a 28-item medical review tool to measure charting compliance in 99 charts before and after implementation of the EHR system. In stage two, a survey was conducted with 709 nurse users to determine their level of mobile EHR acceptance 3 months after this documentation technology was initiated. Results demonstrated that EHR significantly improved documentation compliance in standardized data entry format (name, date, time), abbreviation, content correction/revision, patient care needs, and care goals. Analysis of data from the five categories of a user acceptance survey revealed the following results (based on a 4-point Likert scale): patient care (2.92), nursing efficiency (2.78), education and training (2.98), usability (2.61), and usage benefits (2.87). The study concluded that use of mobile nurse stations with EHR can improve documentation compliance and that although frequent system downtime needs improvement, nurses generally have positive attitudes toward this technology application.展开更多
To meet the needs of today’s library users,institutions are developing library mobile apps(LMAs),as their libraries are increasingly intelligent and rely on deep learning.This paper explores the influencing factors a...To meet the needs of today’s library users,institutions are developing library mobile apps(LMAs),as their libraries are increasingly intelligent and rely on deep learning.This paper explores the influencing factors and differences in the perception of LMAs at different time points after a user has downloaded an LMA.A research model was constructed based on the technology acceptance model.A questionnaire was designed and distributed twice to LMA users with an interval of three months to collect dynamic data.The analysis was based on structural equation modeling.The empirical results show that the perceived ease of use,the perceived usefulness,the social influence,and the facilitating conditions affected the users’behavioral intention,but their impacts were different at different times.As the usage time increases,the technology acceptance model is still universal for understanding the user perception of LMA.In addition,two extended variables(social impact and convenience)also affect the user’s behavior intention.User behavior is dynamic and changed over time.This study is important both theoretically and practically,as the results could be used to improve the service quality of LMAs and reduce the loss rate of users.Its findings may help the designers and developers of LMAs to optimize them from the perspective of a user and improve the service experience by providing a deeper understanding of the adoption behavior of information systems by LMA users.展开更多

A theoretical model including the perceived risk associated with the activity tar...The purpose of this study is to investigate empirically the role of consumer perceived risks in the adoption of mobile health services. A theoretical model including the perceived risk associated with the activity targeted by a mobile health service and the perceived risk associated with the mobile service itself was developed and tested empirically in the context of an application supporting smoking cessation. The model was validated in a cross-sectional experiment conducted with 422 consumers in the UK and Canada. Findings show that while risk triggered by the nature of a health promotion activity is a strong driver of the adoption of the supporting mobile health service, risk related to the actual application targeting that activity is a comparatively weaker obstacle. The two contrasting risk perspectives are highly significant as they together explain over 31% of the variance in consumer intention to use the mobile health service, independently from other adoption factors. Overall, this study demonstrates that consumer risk perceptions alone are a multifaceted and meaningful component in mobile health services adoption, and that this element should not be overlooked in more complex research models.展开更多

Despite the increasing dissemination of the Building Information Modeling(BIM)approach,many firms are still far from BIM and are only starting to adopt information technologies.We conducted an ethnographic action rese...Despite the increasing dissemination of the Building Information Modeling(BIM)approach,many firms are still far from BIM and are only starting to adopt information technologies.We conducted an ethnographic action research with an industrial partner that implements information technologies on its construction sites,with a strong preference for home-made applications.Results show that the development of such applications faces difficulties and that multiple iterations and versions are necessary before achieving the expected goals because the required competencies are lacking among internal development teams.Moreover,initial needs evolve considerably throughout the application’s development and evaluation process.However,notwithstanding the difficulties encountered during the different application development phases,the industrial partner believes the decision to be worthwhile because of the desire to have internal control over the project data and the need to consider certain specificities related to business processes.展开更多
