To realize the resource utilization of the valuable metals in the titanium-containing blast furnace slag,the process route of “hydrochloric acid leaching-electrolysis-carbonization and carbon dioxide capture-preparation of calcium carbonate” was proposed.In this study,the influences of process conditions on the leaching rates of calcium,magnesium,aluminum,and iron and the phases of the leaching residue were investigated for the leaching process.The experimental results show that the HCl solution could selectively leach the elements from the titanium-containing blast furnace slag.The better leaching conditions are the HCl solution concentration of 4 mol/L,the leaching time of 30 min,the ratio of liquid volume to solid gas of 10 mL/g,and the stirring paddle speed of 300 r/min.Under the conditions,the leaching rates of calcium,magnesium,aluminum,and iron can reach 85.87%,73.41%,81.35%,and 59.08%,and the leaching rate of titanium is 10.71%.The iron and the aluminum are removed from the leachate to obtain iron-aluminum water purification agents,and the magnesium is removed from the leachate to obtain magnesium hydroxide.The leaching residue phase is dominated by perovskite,followed by magnesium silicate and tricalcium aluminate,and the titaniumrich material could be obtained from the leaching residue by desiliconization. 展开更多

A technique including direct acid leaching, vanadium precipitation with alkaline, sodium hydroxide releaching, impurity removing by adjusting pH value, precipitation vanadium with ammonium chloride, and vanadium pentoxide by roasting steps was proposed according to the characteristic of Xichuan clay vanadium mineral. The factors influencing leaching vanadium such as temperature and the concentration of sulfuric acid were investigated and optimized. The experimental results indicate that the extract ratios of V205 can reach 94% and 92% at a sodium chlorate ratio of 3% and a manganese dioxide ratio of 3%, respectivdy. A completely chemical precipitation method was adopted to decontaminate and enrich the vanadium in the acid leaching solution. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and the purity analysis of vanadium pentoxide indicate that the purity of final vanadium pentoxide can reach 99% and meet the standard specifications. The total recovery can reach about 75%. The technique has the characteristics of simplicity, less investment, and more environment safety as compared with the traditional salt roasting method. 展开更多

Vanadium extraction from stone-coal was investigated by oxygen pressure acid leaching and solvent extraction.The mineralogy of the stone-coal from Tongren City of Guizhou Province,China,was investigated by various determination methods. The effects of leaching time,leaching temperature,leaching agent concentration,leaching L/S ratio,granularity of material,additive consumption were investigated based on the mineralogy.The results show that under the conditions of leaching time of 3-4 h, temperature of 150℃,sulfuric acid consumption of 25%?30%,ratio of liquid to solid of 1.2:1,the granularity less than 0.074 mm, additive consumption of 3%-5%,and oxygen pressure of 1.2 MPa,and the vanadium leaching rate can be more than 92%by the method of two-step pressurized acid leaching.The powdery V2O5 product with 99.52%in V2O5 content is obtained by the flowsheet of acid recovery,removing iron by reduction process,solvent extraction,precipitating vanadium with ammonium water,and pyrolysis from the stone-coal oxygen pressure acid-leaching solution.The total recovery efficiency of vanadium is above 85%,which is more than 20%higher than that obtained in the conventional process.Furthermore,the new process does not cause air pollution since no HCl or Cl2 is released by calcination of the raw material. 展开更多

The effects of the acid leaching and alkali fusion on the leaching efficiency of Y,Eu,Ce,and Tb from the waste rare earth fluorescent powders were investigated in this paper.The results show that hydrochloric acid is better than sulfuric acid in the first acid leaching,and NaOH is better than Na2CO3in the alkali fusion.In the first acid leaching,the Wloss is 20.94%when the waste rare earth fluorescent powders are acid leached in H?concentration 3 mol L-1and S/L ratio 1:3 for 4 h due to red powders dissolved.The better results of the alkali fusion can be got at 800℃ for 2 h when the NaOH is used.The blue powders and the green powders can be dissolved into NaAlO2and oxides such as rare earth oxide(REO).The REO can be dissolved in H?concentration 5 mol L-1,S/L1:10 for 3 h in the second acid leaching.The leaching rates of the Y,Eu,Ce,and Tb are 99.06%,97.38%,98.22%,and 98.15%,respectively.The leaching rate of the total rare earth is 98.60%. 展开更多

Through leaching from residue directly and leaching after a roasting treatment,respectively,the experimental research on sulfuric leaching of vanadium from residue of stone coal that came from power generation was conducted.Factors which influence the leaching of vanadium such as concentration of sulfuric acid,leaching temperature,leaching time and liquid-to-solid ratio were investigated in both processes.In the process of direct leaching,to achieve a leaching rate of 74.49%,H2SO4 concentration of up to 5.4%,leaching temperature of 90℃and leaching time of 8 h were necessary reaction factors.The results show that after a roasting treatment at the optimum condition of 950℃at 1 h,76.88%vanadium can be leached under the experimental condition of 0.45% of H2SO4,30℃for 1 h with a liquid-to-solid ratio of 2 mL/g.Leaching after an oxidation roasting treatment is an efficient way to leach vanadium from the residue of stone coal,which has some advantages,such as high recovery,low economic cost and less impurities in leaching solution. 展开更多

Effects of particle size of the zinc sulfide concentrate,leaching temperature,solid-to-liquid ratio and additive amount on pressure acid leaching process of the zinc sulfide concentrate were studied.The results indicate that the additive can improve the reaction kinetics and the conversion rate.And sulfur can be successfully separated from the zinc sulfide concentrate as elemental sulfur.The reasonable experiment parameters are obtained as follows:the leaching temperature 150℃,oxygen partial pressure 1 MPa,additive amount 1%,solid-to-liquid ratio 1:4,leaching time 2 h,initial sulfuric acid concentration 15%,and particle size less than 44μm.Under the optimum conditions,the leaching rate of the zinc can reach 95%and the reduction rate of the sulfur can reach 90%. 展开更多

Calcination and acid leaching of coal kaolin were studied to determine an effective and economical preparation method of calcined kaolin. Thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) demonstrated that 900&#176;C was the suitable temperature for the calcination. Leaching tests showed that hydrochloric acid was more effective for iron dissolution from raw coal kaolin (RCK), whereas oxalic acid was more effective on iron dissolution from calcined coal kaolin (CCK). The iron dissolution from CCK was 28.78wt%, which is far less effective than the 54.86wt% of RCK under their respective optimal conditions. Through analysis by using M?ssbauer spectroscopy, it is detected that nearly all of the structural ferrous ions in RCK were removed by hydrochloric acid. However, iron sites in CCK changed slightly by oxalic acid leaching because nearly all ferrous ions were transformed into ferric species after firing at 900&#176;C. It can be concluded that it is difficult to remove the structural ferric ions and ferric oxides evolved from the structural ferrous ions. Thus, iron removal by acids should be conducted prior to calcination. 展开更多

Primary beneficiation was successfully performed prior to dissolution of manganotantalite (sample A) and ferrotantalite (sample C) samples obtained from two different mines in the Naquissupa area, Mozambique. Magnetic separation removed the majority of iron and titanium, whereas H2SO4 leaching removed a large portion of thorium and uranium in these samples. Analytical results indicated that 64.14wt% and 72.04wt% of the total Fe and Ti, respectively, and -2wt% each of Nb205 and Ta205 were removed from sample C (ferrotantalite) using the magnetic separation method, whereas only 9.64wt% and 8.66wt% of total Fe203 and TiO2, respectively, and -2wt% each of NbEOs and Ta2O5 were removed from sample A (manganotantalite). A temperature of 50℃ and a leaching time of 3 h in the presence of concentrated HESOa were observed to be the most appropriate leaching conditions for removal of radioactive elements from the tantalite ores. The results obtained for sample A under these conditions indicated that 64.14wt% U3O8 and 60.77wt% ThO2 were leached into the acidic solution, along with 4.45wt% and 0.99wt% of Nb2O5 and Ta2O5, respectively. 展开更多

Organic and inorganic carbon contents of marine sediments are important to reconstruct marine productivity,global carbon cycle, and climate change. A proper method to separate and determine organic and inorganic carbons is thus of great necessity. Although the best method is still disputable, the acid leaching method is widely used in many laboratories because of its ease-of-use and high accuracy. The results of the elemental analysis of sediment trap samples reveal that organic and inorganic carbon contents cannot be obtained using the acid leaching method, causing an infinitely amplified error when the carbon content of the decarbonated sample is 12%±1% according to a mathematical derivation. Acid fumigation and gasometric methods are used for comparison, which indicates that other methods can avoid this problem in organic carbon analysis. For the first time, this study uncovers the pitfalls of the acid leaching method, which limits the implication in practical laboratory measurement, and recommends alternative solutions of organic/inorganic carbon determination in marine sediments. 展开更多

Extraction of vanadium from black shale was attempted in pressure acid leaching.The chemical components of the sample obtained from Guizhou Province of China show that it contains 3.258%V2O5,52.880%SiO2 and 16.140%Al2O3.Phase analyses of vanadium indicates vanadium mainly exists in the free oxide and mica.Vanadium contents in the two phases are 18%and 53%, respectively.The contents of V3 +,V 4+and V 5+are almost equal.Under the optimum parameters of one-step leaching(reaction time of 3 h,sulfuric addition of 25%,temperature of 150℃,liquid to solid ratio of 1.2 mL/g,catalyst(FeSO4)addition of 5%and size of 85%particle 0.074 mm),about 77%of vanadium is recovered.After two-step countercurrent leaching,the leach recovery of vanadium can reach above 90%.Air replacing oxygen is completely feasible.The impurity metals can dissolve into solution in different degrees. 展开更多

Upon oxidation of ilmeinte, mtile cml be formed wiffl modest energy consumption; furfflermore, after leaching, only a few byproducts are formed. Unfortunate- ly, one drawback is file necessarily long oxidative process of typically used mefflods. In fflis study, we show fflat a fluidized bed reactor cml be used to oxidize ilmeinte ore to rapidly form ruffle mid pseudobrookite (Fe2TiOs) phases. Ilmeinte was oxidized wiffl 5vo1% 02 in Ar at temperatures of 1173 K or 1223 K mid subsequently leached using a diluted H2SO4 solution to dissolve file pseudobrookite phase. The effects of acid concentration, temperature, mid cooling rate after oxidation were investigated. We show fflat file ilmeinte was rapidly oxidized to form rutile mid pseudobrookite phases at 1173 mid 1223 K in a 5vo1% O2/95vo1% Ar environment wifflin 40 min. The fmal maximum mtile yield was 84.2mo1% after leaching in (1 + 1) H2SO4 solution at 393 K for 12 h. 展开更多

Dahu-Qinnan molybdenum deposit,located in the northern part of the Xiaoqinling gold province,belongs to the Xiaoqinling-Waifangshan sub-zone of the eastern Qinling Mo-W metallogenic belt,central China.Molybdenite mineralization is associated with Au-bearing quartz veins.This paper is based on field observations and PIMA analytical data on the occurrences,and details textures and alteration patterns of Mo-bearing quartz veins in Dahu-Qinnan region.The Mo-bearing quartz veins exhibit friable with cream colored,vuggy,infilling texture and brecciated texture.The breccia clasts within Mo-bearing quartz veins are dominated by gneissic rocks of the Taihua Supergroup,and Mesozoic porphyritic granite dyke with stockwork and disseminated molybdenite mineralization.The breccias are replaced by clay minerals.Alteration associated with molybdenite-bearing quartz veins is characterized by K-feldspar(only in the breccias),sericite,sillicification(residual silica),kaolinite,smectite and anhydrite.Molybdenite with other sulfide minerals infills fissures and pore spaces in the quartz veins.As the results of above,and according to the observed geological events in the area and taking into account the geological setting,molybdenite-bearing quartz veins are likely to have been affected by late acid leaching.The precursor porphyry Mo ore,associated with porphyry granite dyke formed probably at ca.245--211 Ma during the continent-continenl collision of Qinling orogeny. 展开更多

The dissolution behavior of Caldag lateritic nickel ore subjected to a sequential organic acid leaching method was investigated. The effects of the type of organic acid, acid concentration, leaching time, and leaching temperature on the lateritic nickel ore were examined. Organic acids were used individually prior to sequential leaching. Citric acid was more effective than the other two acids for the selective leaching of nickel and cobalt. An increase in the citric acid concentration negligibly affected the dissolution of the metals, whereas temperature exhibited a strong beneficial effect. Oxalic acid was determined to be the most appropriate organic acid for the second leaching step. After 8 h(4 h + 4 h) of leaching with organic acids(0.5 M citric + 0.5 M oxalic) in sequence at 90°C, 89.63% Ni, 82.89% Co, and 69.63% Fe were leached from the lateritic nickel ore. A sequential citric + oxalic acid leaching method could represent a viable alternative for the dissolution of metals from lateritic nickel ore. 展开更多

This recycling of printed circuit board (TCI) for the production of metals, given the environmental degradation that can cause toxic substances of these, is the reuse of valuable materials recovered from the TCI, this being an economic engine that promotes the recycling of this waste. This paper presents a methodology for evaluating the reaction kinetics and leaching of metals that form the metal substrate, which have environmental and energy advantages, so the generation of new recovery techniques metals from the TCI low environmental and energy impact is increasingly necessary, for it is essential to establish the parameters affecting the reaction rate and identify design alternatives to determine whether or not sustainable, economically viable and that does not pollute. The method adopted was a leaching acid samples, where the full factorial method employed two experimental levels to evaluate the influence of: leaching time, temperature of the aqueous leach solution, reaction kinetics and solid/liquid, on the percentage of metal extraction. The kinetics of oxygen pressure acid leaching marmatite with high indium content was studied. The effects of particle size, agitation rate, temperature, HSOconcentration, and oxygen partial pressure on leaching rate of indium were investigated. The results show that when the agitation rate is above 600 r-min, its influence on indium leaching rate is insignificant. It is determined that the leaching rates increase with the increase in sulfuric acid concentration, temperature, partial oxygen pressure, and the decrease in particle size. Moreover, the results demonstrate that the process of indium leaching is controlled by interface chemical reaction, with apparent activation energy of 65.7 k J-mol. The apparent reaction orders of sulfuric acid and oxygen partial pressure are determined to be 0.749 and 1.260, respectively. The leaching reaction process follows shrinking unreacted core model. And finally, the kinetics model equation is established for indium. 展开更多

The extraction of Sc by acid leaching with CaF2 and solvent extraction with P507 from red mud was proposed.The influence of acid leaching and solvent extraction on recovery of Sc was investigated.The CaF2 can obviously improve the leaching efficiency of Sc and reduce the acid consumption.The leaching efficiency of Sc increases from 74%to 92%and the dosage of acid reduces under suitable conditions by adding 5%CaF2.The minerals in red mud can easily be decomposed and leached into the acid solution with CaF2 through analysis of XRD pattern.The particles of red mud become smaller and multihole.The Sc can be selectively extracted with 10%P507 at the pH value of 0.1 from the acid leaching solution.More than 98%of Sc and less than 10%of Al and Fe are extracted.The SC2O3 with purity of 99%is obtained after the process of reverse extraction with NaOH,H2SO4 dissolution,precipitation by oxalic acid and roasting at 750℃. 展开更多

Selective recovery of scandium and titanium from red mud leaching solution was achieved through neutralization precipitation followed by acid leaching approach.In the neutralization precipitation section,the effects of pH,temperature and reaction time on metal precipitation efficiency were investigated.Under the optimal co ndition,the precipitation efficiencies of scandium and titanium were 93.74%and 99.47%,respectively.In the acid leaching section,the effects of acidity,temperature,reaction time,and raffinate to acid solution ratio on leaching efficiency were investigated.Under the optimal condition,the leaching efficiencies of scandium and titanium were 99.97%and 5.44%,respectively.The loss of scandium and titanium were 6.3%and 5.9%,respectively.Compared with the traditional extraction procedure of scandium in red mud,this method could separate titanium from scandium effectively,which is beneficial for the purification of the products and improvement of value of the metal. 展开更多

By mineral liberation analyzer (MLA) automated quantitative system, the niobium-tantalum ore in this study was classified as refractory mineral of low-grade which was mainly composed of fergusonite, polycrase, ilmenorutile, and bastnasite. Most of niobium and rare earth metals were dis- seminated in these minerals (particle sizes of 95 % rare earth elements 〈40 μm), which cannot be concentrated through traditional floatation process and treated by the current hydrofluoric acid leaching in industry application. It is nec- essary to develop a new approach to recovery these valuable metals. In this study, an improved method is proposed to extract these metals, which includes acid roasting and sulfuric acid leaching. The influence of mineralogy, acid concentra- tion, leaching temperature, leaching time, and liquid to solid ratio was experimentally studied. It is observed that after the ground ore (-74 μm) was roasted at 350 ℃ for 2 h with sulfuric acid (18.4 mol.L- 1) in the ore to acid mass ratio of 1:1, and then the roasting residue reacted with 25 % sulfuric acid at 90 ℃ for 2 h, the recovery rate of rare earth elements reaches 〉90 %, and the leaching extent of niobium can reach 84 %. 展开更多

Urban soils polluted with heavy metals are of increasing concern because it is greatly affecting human health and the ecological systems.Hence,it is mandatory to understand the reasons behind this pollution and remediate the contaminated solid.The removal of heavy metals from contaminated soil samples collected from the vicinity of the sewage lake in Jeddah,Saudi Arabia,was explored.The leaching process was studied kinetically and thermodynamically for better understanding of the remediation process.The results showed that the soil samples were slightly basic in nature,and tend to be more neutral away from the main contaminated sewage lake area.The total metal content in the soil samples was measured using the aqua regia extractions by ICPOES and the results showed that many of the heavy metals present have significant concentrations above the tolerable limits.In general,the metal concentrations at different sites indicated that the heavy metal pollution is mainly due to the sewage discharge to the lake.The results showed excellent correlation between the concentrations of Co,As,and Hg with the distance from the main contaminated area.The leaching of Co,As,and Hg using 1.0 M hydrochloric acid from the soil was studied kinetically at different temperatures and the experimental results were fitted using different kinetics models.The experimental data were best described with two-constant rate and Elovich equation kinetic models.Also,the thermodynamic study showed that the leaching process was spontaneous,endothermic and accompanied with increase in the entropy.In general,the polluted soil could be remediated successfully from the heavy metals using the acid leaching procedure in a short period of time. 展开更多
