Some considerations are presented on the so called “ontological interpretations” of quantum physics, starting from a remark by Werner Heisenberg on the relation between the probabilistic character of quantum states ...Some considerations are presented on the so called “ontological interpretations” of quantum physics, starting from a remark by Werner Heisenberg on the relation between the probabilistic character of quantum states and the Aristotelian notion of “potency”. We show how an interesting revival of the original idea by Heisenberg can be found in the recent scientific and epistemological literature, in order to solve some paradoxical aspects emerging within some of the usual interpretations of quantum physics. Moreover a way seems to be open in order to rediscover the role of Aristotelian-Thomistic notion of “analogy” of “causal agents” operating even in the physical world. The “Potency-Act” interpretation of quantum physics appears aside the role of the Aristotelian notion of “Form” when it is compared with the recent notion of “information” in the context of the physics of “complex systems” and the biology of “living systems”.展开更多
With the rise of unilateral protectionism and the blockage of World Trade Organization(WTO)multilateral trading system reform,the United States(U.S.)provides huge financial support to its semiconductor industry throug...With the rise of unilateral protectionism and the blockage of World Trade Organization(WTO)multilateral trading system reform,the United States(U.S.)provides huge financial support to its semiconductor industry through the“Chip Act.”Besides,the U.S.attempts to improve the competitiveness of its semiconductor industry and dominate the international semiconductor market by setting up a series of“guardrails provisions”to curb the development of“foreign countries of concern,”such as China.Through documentary analysis,the main contents of the“Chip Act”are clarified,and its justiciability and compliance are analyzed from the perspective of WTO rules.In terms of actionability,the“Chip Act”meets the general conditions of subsidies and possesses the traits of specificity but at the same time causes damage to other countries’industries,thus constituting an actionable subsidy.In terms of compliance,the discriminatory provisions of the“Chip Act”violate the principle of non-discrimination.Accordingly,China should actively respond under the WTO framework by promoting the resolution of the Appellate Body crisis and the reform of the dispute settlement mechanism as well as participating in subsidy reform negotiations and contributing Chinese solutions;China should also take the initiative to apply countervailing rules to the“Chip Act”while improving its own trade remedy system.展开更多
The treatment of hepatitis C has undergone a significant boom since the advent of direct acting antivirals (DAA). Indeed, the interferon-ribavirin combination that has been used to treat hepatitis C has a virological ...The treatment of hepatitis C has undergone a significant boom since the advent of direct acting antivirals (DAA). Indeed, the interferon-ribavirin combination that has been used to treat hepatitis C has a virological response in only 45% of cases with significant side effects. The advent of direct-acting antivirals has changed the prognosis of cirrhotic patients with hepatitis C. DAAs have ensured a sustained viral response in the majority of patients. Our work aims to see the evolution of hepatitis C patients at the cirrhosis stage under DAA. We conducted a retrospective study over 15 years (January 2009, January 2024) including all patients with post-viral cirrhosis C, whom we divided into two groups: group A, cirrhotic patients who received ribavirin and interferon, and group B, patients on DAA. From January 2009 to January 2024, we conducted a study of 182 patients with viral hepatitis C, including 102 cirrhotic patients. The mean age was 55 years. 66% of patients were initially treated with the ribavirin interferon combination, while 34% received direct-acting antivirals (DAAs). Since the introduction of DAAs, the most commonly used regimens have been sofosbuvir/daclatasvir with or without ribavirin and sofosbuvir/ledipasvir with or without ribavirin. Group A achieved sustained virological response (SVR) in 60% of cases, with notable side effects. In Group B, SVR was 98.18%, with improved tolerability and fewer side effects than previous treatments. Fifteen patients developed hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with a significantly lower mortality rate in those treated with DAAs compared with pegylated dual therapy (p: 0.001).展开更多
