As an important part of buoy-type ocean monitoring systems,the inductively coupled mooring chain solves the problem of data cotransmission through the multinode sensors that it carries,which is significant for the rap...As an important part of buoy-type ocean monitoring systems,the inductively coupled mooring chain solves the problem of data cotransmission through the multinode sensors that it carries,which is significant for the rapid acquisition of fish,hydrology,and other information.This paper is based on a seawater channel transmission model with a depth of 300 m and a bandwidth of 2 MHz.An orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)technology is used to overcome the multipath effect of signal transmission on a seawater medium.The adaptive technology is integrated into the OFDM,and an improved joint subcarrier and bit power allocation algorithm is proposed.This algorithm solves the problem of dynamic subcarrier allocation during the cotransmission of underwater multinode user data in seawater channels.The results show that the algorithm complexity can be reduced by 0.18126×10^(-2)s during one complete OFDM system data transmission by the improved greedy algorithm,and a total of 216 bits are transmitted by the OFDM.The normalized channel capacity can be improved by 0.012 bit s^(-1)Hz^(-1).At the bit error ratio(BER)of 10^(-3),the BER performance can be improved by approximately 6 d B.When the numbers of users are 4 and 8,the improved algorithm increases the channel capacity,and the higher the number of users,the more evident the channel capacity improvement effect is.The results of this paper have an important reference value for enhancing the transmission performance of inductively coupled mooring chain underwater multinode data.展开更多

This program is suitable for digital phase locked loop (DPLL) drive technology that proposed in other papers. In addition the program adopts an adaptive filtering algorithm, which selects the in-phase and quadrature components that are outputs of the DPLL of the SMG's drive mode as reference signals to update the amplitude of the in-phase and quadrature components of the input signal by iteratively. An objective of the program is to minimize the mean square error of the accurate amplitudes and the estimated amplitudes of SMG's detection mode. The simulation and test results prove the feasibility of the program that lays the foundation for the further improvement of the SMG's system performance and the implementation of the SMG system's self-calibration and self-demarcation in future.展开更多

Africa has experienced increasing aridity and higher frequency of droughts due to climate change during the half past century with possible adverse effects on agricultural production,especially in dry areas with low r...Africa has experienced increasing aridity and higher frequency of droughts due to climate change during the half past century with possible adverse effects on agricultural production,especially in dry areas with low rainfall.Under the auspices of the Africa Water Action Program between the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST)and the United Nations Environment Program(UNEP),the Institute of Agricultural Environment and Resources,Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences(SAAS-IAER)worked closely with domestic and overseas partners on technology transfer in Morocco,Zambia,Egypt,Niger and Ethiopia from 2008 to 2013.A drought early warning system has been established and validated,and drought adaptation technologies have been trialed,modified,demonstrated and extended in African countries,and this shows great potential to increase crop production,water and fertilizer use efficiency and desert control in rainfed areas of Africa.The project has continued for six years and is a successful case of technology transfer and capacity building in Africa.The knowledge and experience gained will be useful to researchers,technicians,aid agencies and policy makers who work on agricultural technology transfer for in dry areas of Africa.展开更多

As a meshless Lagrangian particle method,...Vehicle wading is a complex fluid-structure interaction(FSI) problem and has attracted great attention recently from the automotive industry, especially for electric vehicles. As a meshless Lagrangian particle method, smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH) is one of the most suitable candidates for simulations of vehicle wading due to its inherent advantages in modeling free surface flows, splash, and moving interfaces. Nevertheless, the inevitable neighbor query for the nearest adjacent particles among the support domain leads to considerable computational cost and thus limits its application in 3D large-scale simulations. In this work, a GPU-based SPH method is developed with an adaptive spatial sort technology for simulations of vehicle wading. In addition, a fast, easy-to-implement particle generator is presented for isotropic initialization of the complex vehicle geometry with optimal interpolation properties. A comparative study of vehicle wading on a puddle between the GPUbased SPH with two pieces of commercial software is used to verify the capability of the GPU-based SPH method in terms of convergence analysis, kinematic characteristics, and computing performance. Finally, different conditions of vehicle speeds, water depths, and puddle widths are tested to investigate the vehicle wading numerically. The results demonstrate that the adaptive spatial sort technology can significantly improve the computing performance of the GPU-based SPH method and meanwhile promotes the GPU-based SPH method to be a competitive tool for the study of 3D large-scale FSI problems including vehicle wading. Some helpful findings of the critical vehicle speed, water depth as well as boundary wall effect are also reported in this work.展开更多
This paper describes the analysis and design of an assistive device for elderly people under development at the EgyptJapan University of Science and Technology(E-JUST) named E-JUST assistive device(EJAD).Several e...This paper describes the analysis and design of an assistive device for elderly people under development at the EgyptJapan University of Science and Technology(E-JUST) named E-JUST assistive device(EJAD).Several experiments were carried out using a motion capture system(VICON) and inertial sensors to identify the human posture during the sit-to-stand motion.The EJAD uses only two inertial measurement units(IMUs) fused through an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems(ANFIS) algorithm to imitate the real motion of the caregiver.The EJAD consists of two main parts,a robot arm and an active walker.The robot arm is a 2-degree-of-freedom(2-DOF) planar manipulator.In addition,a back support with a passive joint is used to support the patient s back.The IMUs on the leg and trunk of the patient are used to compensate for and adapt to the EJAD system motion depending on the obtained patient posture.The ANFIS algorithm is used to train the fuzzy system that converts the IMUs signals to the right posture of the patient.A control scheme is proposed to control the system motion based on practical measurements taken from the experiments.A computer simulation showed a relatively good performance of the EJAD in assisting the patient.展开更多
