A hypercrosslinked polymeric adsorbent (ZH-03) for adsorbing and removing chlorophenolic compounds from their aqueous solutions was studied, including the static adsorption. The equilibrium adsorption data were fit to Freundlich adsorption isothermic models to evaluate the model parameters. Thermodynamic studies on the adsorption of chlorophenolic compounds on ZH-03 indicated that there were chemisorption transitions for 2,4,6-trichlorophenol and physical adsorption processes for 2-chlorophenol and 2,6-chlorophenol, and ZH-03 showed the homogeneous nature of the adsorbent surface. Column adsorption for chlorophenols wastewater shows the advantages of the ZH-03 adsorbent for adsorbing the following chlorophenolic compounds as 2-chlorophenol, 2,6-dichlorophenol and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol. Sodium hydroxide was used for desorpting chlorophenols from ZH-03 and showed excellent performance. 展开更多

Powdered activated carbon (PAC) prepared from Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn. bark was tested for its adsorption capacity for Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ). The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of pH, contact time, initial metal concentration, and temperature. The best adsorption of both Cu(Ⅱ) and Pb(Ⅱ) occurred at pH 5, where the adsorption reached equilibrium within 45 min for the whole range of initial heavy metal concentrations (0.1-10 mmol/L). The adsorption kinetics was found to follow the pseudo-... 展开更多

The present study has been undertaken to evaluate the adsorption in batch mode of a disperse dye (Disperse Blue SBL) by poorly crystalline hydroxyapatite synthesized by coprecipitation between Ca(NO3)2and (NH4)2HPO4 reagents in aqueous solution at room temperature. The adsorption experiments were carried out to investigate the factors that influence the dye uptake by the adsorbent, such as the contact time under agitation, adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration, solution temperature, and pH. The experimental results show that the percentage of dye removal increases with increasing the amount of adsorbent, until the total discoloration. The adsorption isotherms follow the model of Langmuir with a high adsorption capacity. The adsorption was pH and temperature dependent. 展开更多

A water-compatible phenolic hydroxyl modified polystyrene adsorbent (AM-1) for adsorbing and removing phenolic compounds from aqueous solutions was prepared by covalent bonding of phenolic hydroxyl groups to the surface of porous polystyrene-divinylbenzene beads, this resin can be used directly without wetting process. A comparison of the sorption properties of the new resin and Amberlite XAD-4 toward four phenolic compounds, phenol, p-cresol, p-chlorophenol, and p-nitrophenol was made. The capacities of equilibrium adsorption of AM-1 for all four phenolic compounds increased around 20% over that of Amberlite XAD-4, which may be contributed to phenol hydroxyl group on the surface and the unusual pore distribution. At their dilute solution, the equilibrium adsorption capacities of AM-1 for phenol increased about 62% over that of Amberlite XAD-4, while equilibrium adsorption capacities of the other three phenolic compounds increased 4-35%, suggesting an advantage of AM-1 over Amberlite XAD-4 in the collection of phenol. Freundlich isotherm equations and isosteric adsorption enthalpies for the four phenolic compounds indicate a physical adsorption process on the Amberlite XAD-4 and AM-1 resins. Column studies for phenol show that AM-1 resin has excellent adsorption and desorption performance. 展开更多
