It is found that the addition of 1 wt.% Cu or 1 wt.% Mg as strengthening elements significantly improves the tensile strength by 27.2% and 24.5%, respectively. This phenomenon is attributed to the formation of uniformly dispersed fine particles(Al2Cu and Mg2Si secondary phases) in the Al matrix during hot press sintering of the rapidly solidified(gas atomization) powder. The thermal conductivity of the Al-50 Si alloys is reduced with the addition of Cu or Mg, by only 7.3% and 6.8%, respectively. Therefore, the strength of the Al-50 Si alloys is enhanced while maintaining their excellent thermo-physical properties by adding 1% Cu(Mg).展开更多

The experimental results reveal that there is a non-monotonic relationship among solution heating rate, mechanical properties, microstructure and texture. As the solution heating rate increases, the strength variations are dependent on the tensile direction;work hardening exponent n decreases first, and then increases;plastic strain ratio r increases first, and then decreases, and finally increases. The final microstructure and texture are also affected by heating rate. As heating rate increases, the microstructure transforms from elongated grain structure to equiaxed grain structure, and the average grain size decreases first, and then increases, and decreases finally. Although the texture components including CubeND{001}<310> and P{011}<122> orientations almost have no change with the increase of heating rate, the texture intensity and volume fraction decrease first, and then increase, and finally decrease. Both microstructure and texture evolutions are weakly affected by heating rate. Improving heating rate is not always favorable for the development of fine equiaxed grain structure, weak texture and high average r value, which may be related to the recrystallization behavior.展开更多

文摘The effect of Er on the microhardness and precipitation behavior of the heat-treated Al−Si−Mg alloy was investigated by microhardness tester and TEM.As a comparison, the influence of natural aging was also studied. It is shown that the thermal stability of the over-aged Al−Si−Mg−Er alloy is highly related to the average size of the precipitates. The average size ofβ''precipitates in Al−Si−Mg−Er alloy is smaller than that in Al−Si−Mg alloy, and the distribution is more localized under condition of without introducing natural aging. However, when natural aging is introduced before artificial aging, the Al−Si−Mg−Er alloy has similar average size and distribution of precipitates with the Al−Si−Mg alloy, resulting in similar mechanical properties. The effect of Er on the precipitation kinetics in the alloy was also discussed in detail to explain these phenomena.

文摘To get a full understanding of hot extrusion, solid solution treatment and aging process on the Al−0.56Mg−0.63Si alloy, the microstructure and mechanical properties of a U-shaped profile were studied through optical microscopy, scanning electrical microscopy, transmission electrical microscopy, hardness, and tensile tests. The coarse equiaxed grains existed near the profile edge as a result of the dynamic recrystallization nucleation and exceeding growth during hot extrusion. The fibrous deformed and sub-structured grains located between the two coarse grain layers, due to the occurrence of work-hardening and dynamic recovery.Perpendicular needle β′′precipitates were distributed inside the grain, and obvious precipitates-free zone appeared after aging treatment. The tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of the aged Al−Mg−Si alloy U-shaped profile were no less than 279.4 MPa,258.6 MPa,and 21.6%,respectively.The fracture morphology showed dimple rupture characteristics. The precipitates and grain boundaries played key role in the strengthening contribution.

文摘In-situ 2 vol.%TiB2 particle reinforced Al−xSi−0.3Mg(x=7,9,12,15 wt.%)composites were prepared by the salt−metal reaction, and the microstructures and mechanical properties were investigated. The results show that the TiB2 particles with a diameter of 20−80 nm and the eutectic Si with a length of 1−10μm are the main strengthening phases in the TiB2/Al−xSi−0.3Mg composites. The TiB2 particles promote grain refinement and modify the eutectic Si from needle-like to short-rod shape. However, the strengthening effect of TiB2 particles is weakened as the Si content exceeds the eutectic composition, which can be attributed to the formation of large and irregular primary Si.The axial tensile test results and fractography observations indicate that these composites show more brittle fracture characteristics than the corresponding alloy matrixes.
文摘Refinement and thermal analysis of hypereutectic Al 25%Si alloy were investigated with scanning electron microscope (SEM) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The results show that the average size of primary silicon in Al 25%Si alloy without and with phosphorus addition are 250 μm and 30 μm, respectively. But the primary and eutectic growth temperature is raised by about 17.3 ℃ and 4?℃ respectively due to phosphorus addition. The primary nucleation temperatures are 745.0 ℃ and 762.0 ℃ for untreated and treated samples and in addition, the enthalpy changes of primary and eutectic transformation are -261.0 J/g and -397.3 J/g without phosphorus addition, -294.2 J/g and -386.1 J/g with phosphorus addition, respectively. Otherwise the mechanisms of refinement and thermal transformation of Al 25%Si alloy in solidifying process are also discussed. [

文摘To improve the wear resistance of cast Al?17Si?5Cu alloy(AR alloy),isothermal heat treatment is employed to modify the morphology of Si particles(particularly eutectic Si particles).Furthermore, wear behaviour of heat-treated alloy(HT alloy)along with AR alloy is studied using a pin-on-disc tribometer.Worn surfaces are then characterised using scanning electron microscope. The result reveals considerable microstructural modifications after the heat treatment.Accordingly, higher hardness value in HT alloy is obtained compared with AR alloy. The overall wear rate for HT alloy is found to be significantly lower compared with AR alloy at all the applied loads, indicating remarkable improvement in wear resistance.Eutectic Si particles become from acicular/rod-like to spherical/equiaxed morphology(aspect ratio close to 1)on heat treatment, resulting in good bonding with the matrix. Thus, they remain intact during wear and being harder, providing resistance to wear. Moreover, the increased hardness on heat treatment causes further resistance to wear. Therefore, the combined effect of intact harder Si particles on the wearing surface and higher hardness results in superior wear behavior in HT alloy at all loads compared with AR alloy.

文摘The effect of pre-straining on the structure and formation mechanism of precipitates in an Al−Mg−Si−Cu alloy was systematically investigated by atomic resolution high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy(HAADF-STEM).Elongated and string-like precipitates are formed along the dislocations in the pre-strained Al−Mg−Si−Cu alloy. The precipitates formed along the dislocations exhibit three features:non-periodic atomic arrangement within the precipitate;Cu segregation occurring at the precipitate/α(Al)interface;different orientations presented in one individual precipitate.Four different formation mechanisms of these heterogeneous precipitates were proposed as follows:elongated precipitates are formed independently in the dislocation;string-like precipitates are formed directly along the dislocations;different precipitates encounter to form string-like precipitates;precipitates are connected by other phases or solute enrichment regions. These different formation mechanisms are responsible for forming different atomic structures and morphologies of precipitates.

文摘The relationship among heating rate, mechanical properties, microstructure and texture of Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloy during solution treatment was investigated through tensile test, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffractometer and EBSD technology. Improving heating rate is not always favorable for the development of fine equiaxed grain structure, weak texture and high average r value, which may be related to the recrystallization behavior.

文摘The flow stress of spray formed 70Si30Al alloy was studied by hot compression on a Gleeble- 1500 test machine. The experimental results indicated that the flow stress depends on the strain rate and the deformation temperature. The flow stress increases with an increase in strain rate at a given deformation temperature. The flow stress decreases with the deformation temperature increasing at a given strain rate. The relational expression among the flow stress, the swain rate, and the deformation temperature satisfies the Arrhenius equation. The deformation activation energy of 70Si30Al alloy during hot deformation is 866.27 kJ/mol from the Arrhenius equation.

文摘A novel 70Si30Al alloy was prepared by the spray forming process for electronic packaging materials. The effect of the ratio of atomization pressure to metal melt mass flux rate (P/M) on the preforms and microstructures of the spray-deposited 70Si30Al alloy was studied. The results indicate that the PIM value has a considerable influence on the formation of the preforms and the optimal value is in the range of 0.209-0.231 MPa/(kg.min^-1). The microstructure of the spray formed 70Si30AI alloy is fine and homogenous. The primary silicon phases distributing in the aluminum matrix evenly are fine and irregular. The aluminum matrix is divided into two groups: supersaturated α-Al phase or α-Al phase and Al-Si pseudoeutectic phase or Al-Si eutectic phase.

文摘A new Mg−10%Al−1%Zn−1%Si alloy with non-dendritic microstructure was prepared by strain induced melt activation(SIMA)process. The effect of compression ratio on the evolution of semisolid microstructure of the experimental alloy was investigated. The results indicate that the average size ofα-Mg grains decreases and spheroidizing tendency becomes more obvious with the compression ratios increasing from 0 to 40%.In addition, the eutectic Mg2Si phase in the Mg−10%Al−1%Zn−1%Si alloy transforms completely from the initial fishbone shape to globular shape by SIMA process. With the increasing of compression ratio, the morphology and average size of Mg2Si phases do not change obviously. The morphology modification mechanism of Mg2Si phase in Mg−10%Al−1%Zn−1%Si alloy by SIMA process was also studied.
