The influence of cathodic pulse parameters was evaluated on plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)coatings grown on 7075 aluminum alloy in a silicate-based electrolyte containing potassium titanyl oxalate(PTO)using pulsed...The influence of cathodic pulse parameters was evaluated on plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)coatings grown on 7075 aluminum alloy in a silicate-based electrolyte containing potassium titanyl oxalate(PTO)using pulsed bipolar waveforms with various cathodic duty cycles and cathodic current densities.The coatings were characterized by SEM,EDS,and XRD.EIS was applied to investigate the electrochemical properties.It was observed that the increase of cathodic duty cycle and cathodic current density from 20%and 6 A/dm^(2) to 40%and 12 A/dm^(2) enhances the growth rate of the inner layer from 0.22 to 0.75μm/min.Adding PTO into the bath showed a fortifying effect on influence of the cathodic pulse and the mentioned change of cathodic pulse parameters,resulting in an increase of the inner layer growth rate from 0.25 to 1.10μm/min.Based on EDS analysis,Si and Ti were incorporated dominantly in the upper parts of the coatings.XRD technique merely detectedγ-Al_(2)O_(3),and there were no detectable peaks related to Ti and Si compounds.However,the EIS results confirmed that the incorporation of Ti^(4+)into alumina changed the electronic properties of the coating.The coatings obtained from the bath containing PTO using the bipolar waveforms with a cathodic duty cycle of 40%and current density values higher than 6 A/dm^(2) showed highly appropriate electrochemical behavior during 240 d of immersion due to an efficient repairing mechanism.Regarding the effects of studied parameters on the coating properties,the roles of cathodic pulse parameters and PTO in the PEO process were highlighted.展开更多
An organic-inorganic hybrid sealing agent was fabricated and used in the plasma sprayed Al_(2)O_(3)-13 wt%TiO_(2)coating,and conventional silicone agent was also used for comparison.Protection performance of the coati...An organic-inorganic hybrid sealing agent was fabricated and used in the plasma sprayed Al_(2)O_(3)-13 wt%TiO_(2)coating,and conventional silicone agent was also used for comparison.Protection performance of the coatings was comprehensively evaluated based on both anti-corrosion and anti-biofouling properties.The results reveal that the sealing treatment is remarkably useful to decrease the porosity of the coating,and the porosity of the coating sealed with the hybrid agent is only 0.035%.Immersion corrosion test and Tafel polarization test reveal that the sealed coating with the hybrid agent exhibits a better corrosion resistance by compared with the coating sealed with silicone agent.The corrosion current density i_(corr) of the hybrid agent sealed coating is only 0.7×10^(-6)A·cm^(-2).Moreover,anti-biofouling tests both in the outdoor analogue hydraulic environment and in the natural marine environment prove that the mentioned novel coating presents a better combination of corrosion resistance and anti-biofouling property by compared with the other coatings,and it could be used as a protection of metal components in the marine environment.展开更多
In the current research,a thorough examination unfolds concerning the attributes of magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)boundary layer flow and heat transfer inherent to nanoliquids derived from Sisko Al_(2)O_(3)-Eg and TiO_(2)-E...In the current research,a thorough examination unfolds concerning the attributes of magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)boundary layer flow and heat transfer inherent to nanoliquids derived from Sisko Al_(2)O_(3)-Eg and TiO_(2)-Eg compositions.Such nanoliquids are subjected to an extending surface.Consideration is duly given to slip boundary conditions,as well as the effects stemming from variable viscosity and variable thermal conductivity.The analytical approach applied involves the application of suitable similarity transformations.These conversions serve to transform the initial set of complex nonlinear partial differential equations into a more manageable assembly of ordinary differential equations.Through the utilization of the FEM,these reformulated equations are solved,considering the specified boundary conditions.The outcomes attained are graphically depicted by means of plots and tables.These visual aids facilitate a comprehensive exploration of how diverse parameters exert influence over the distributions of velocity,temperature,and concentration.Furthermore,detailed scrutiny is directed towards the fluctuations characterizing pivotal parameters,viz.,Nusselt number,skin-friction coefficient,and Sherwood number.It is identified that the Nusselt number showcases a diminishing trend coinciding with increasing values of the volume fraction parameter(φ).This trend remains consistent regardless of whether the nanoliquid under consideration is Al_(2)O_(3)-Eg or TiO_(2)-Eg based.In contrast,both the skin-friction coefficient and Sherwood number assume lower values as the volume fraction parameter(φ)escalates.This pattern remains congruent across both classifications of nanoliquids.The findings of the study impart valuable insights into the complex interplay governing the characteristics of HMT pertaining to Sisko Al_(2)O_(3)-Eg and TiO_(2)-Eg nanoliquids along an extending surface.展开更多
