Effectiveness of onsite and online education in enhancing knowledge and use of human immunodeficiency virus pre-and postexposure prophylaxis

BACKGROUND Enhancing awareness and use of pre-exposure prophylaxis(PrEP)and postexposure prophylaxis(PEP)is vital to curb human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)spread.High-risk behaviors prevalent among sexually transmitted infection clinic outpatients underscore the need for increased PrEP/PEP education in this group.AIM To investigate the effects of both onsite and online health education on the knowledge of,and willingness to use,PrEP and PEP among individuals receiving PEP services.METHODS Participants were drawn from a cohort study on PEP service intervention at an STD/AIDS outpatient clinic in designated HIV/AIDS hospitals in Beijing,conducted from January 1 to June 30,2022.Health education was provided both onsite and online during follow-up.Surveys assessing knowledge of,and willingness to use,PrEP/PEP were administered at baseline and again at 24 wk post-intervention.RESULTS A total of 112 participants were enrolled in the study;105 completed the follow-up at week 24.The percentage of participants with adequate knowledge of,and willingness to use,PrEP significantly increased from 65.2%and 69.6%at baseline to 83.8%and 82.9%at the end of the intervention(both P<0.05).Similarly,those with adequate knowledge of,and willingness to use,PEP increased from 74.1%and 77.7%at baseline to 92.4%and 89.5%at week 24(P<0.05).Being between 31 years and 40 years of age,having a postgraduate degree or higher,and reporting a monthly expenditure of RMB 5000 or more were found to be significantly associated with knowledge of PrEP and PEP(both P<0.05).CONCLUSION The findings show that both onsite and online health education significantly improved the knowledge of,and increased willingness to use,PrEP and PEP in individuals utilizing PEP services. 展开更多

The course takes “carrying forward the craftsmanship spirit” as the main line, and takes” constructing a pattern of high-quality education” as the main task, which not only cultivates students’ professional skills in human resource management, but also integrates ideological and political elements into all modules of human resource management, pays attention to students’ ideological trends and attaches importance to students’ ideological education. In the teaching content, the course introduces ideological and political elements such as craftsmanship spirit, entrepreneurship spirit and Chinese traditional culture. Medical education is an important cornerstone for the development of healthcare,and medical humanities education,as an integral part of medical education,plays an irreplaceable role in cultivating people’s health guardians with high medical ethics.We adopted the method of stratified random sampling to select 309 students and 107 faculty members from three independent medical colleges in Sichuan province as the research subjects and distributed questionnaire surveys investigating in three dimensions:overall cognition of medical humanities,evaluation of medical humanistic qualities,and the current situation of medical humanities education,supplemented by an in-depth literature review and interviews with subject matter experts.We found that“tech-centrism”still has a great influence,the self-evaluation of medical students’humanistic quality is generally not high,the educational concept of“emphasizing professional skills over morality”of faculty and staff is still quite prevalent,and there is still the“last mile”phenomenon in medical humanities education.In order to promote the integrated development of“new medicine”and“new liberal arts”and break the barriers of“tech-centrism”and“instrumental rationality,”it is necessary to change the educational concept and strengthen the education of all employees,break through the bottleneck of internships and strengthen the whole process of education,integrate educational resources and strengthen all-round education,improve the incentive mechanisms,strengthen the assessment methods,and provide Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions for the development of medical humanities education. 展开更多

This paper examines the relationships between natural resource dependence, public education investment, and human capital accumulation. It addresses why the “blessing” of abundant natural resources often turns into a “curse” in many countries and regions, focusing on the crowding-out effect of natural resources on human capital. According to our empirical analysis of provincial panel data from China, natural resource dependence is significantly and negatively correlated with human capital accumulation. The crowding-out effect of natural resources on human capital exists only in the central and western regions of China. Our introduction of an interaction term for natural resource dependence and public education investment underscores the possibility of investing in public education to reduce the crowding-out effect of natural resource dependence on human capital. The government should utilize the income of the natural resource sector to increase investment in education to enhance local human capital. 展开更多

The economic crisis in 1997-1998 increased poverty to 49.5 million,but in 2005 decreased to 35.10 million,then in 2006 increased 39.05 million.The worst communities were workers,dependent families,small farmers and fishermen,informal sector workers,low-level civil servants,and people affected by natural disasters.The research design was cross sectional;the research was in Pangkal Pinang City in January 2016.The data were summarized by interview,observation,documentation,and Focus Group Discussion.Data analyses were flow model,product moment,and Likert scale.The result of the research shows the correlation between how to obtain the poor scholarship and the criteria of obtaining the poor scholarship that is very tight which is 0.453.The relation between the criteria of obtaining the poor scholarship and the determination of the poor scholarship is quite close which is 0.218.The relationship between the determination of the scholarship for poor students and obtaining the poor scholarship is 0.395.The correlation between how to get the poor scholarship and the poor scholarship receiver is quite close that is 0.190.The relationship between the determination of the poor scholarship and the impact of the poor scholarship is quite close that is 0.171.The relationship between using of the poor scholarship and the poor scholarship receiver is very close that is 0.297.The relation between the poor receiver and the impact of poor the scholarship is 0.270. 展开更多

Using the differences and complementarities between human intelligence and artificial intelligence(AI),a hybrid-augmented intelligence,that is both stronger than human intelligence and AI,is created through Human-AI Cooperation(HAC)for teaching and learning.Human-AI Cooperation is infiltrating into all links of education,and recent research has focused a lot on the impact of teaching,learning,management,and evaluation with Human-AI Cooperation.However,AI still has its limits of intelligence,and cannot cooperate as humans.Thus,it is critical to study the obstacles of Human-AI Cooperation in education,as AI plays a role as a partner,not a tool.This study discussed for the first time how teachers and AI cooperate based on Multiple Intelligences of AI proposed by Andrzej Cichocki and puts forward a new Human-AI Cooperation teaching mode:human in the loop and teaching as leadership.It is proposed that humans in the loop and teaching as leadership can solve the problem that AI cannot cope with complex and dynamic teaching tasks in open situations,as well as the limits of intelligence for AI. 展开更多

There are many indications that prove that religious education, and the religious discourse to a large extent, have reached a critical crossroad. Demands for a non-religious common ground in society is having a strong impact on how conventional religious education is perceived. Further, the harsh criticism on the legitimacy of religious from humanistic and atheistic circles also points to the fact that religious education needs to be re-evaluated. The paper takes critical look at religion both as a historical and cultural phenomenon and as a construct of the human imagination. Based on this it aims at addressing the question: Can religious education be justified if the aim of education is to educate to reality? The question will be answered by stating an argument that views religious education as an exercise in a healthy use of the human imagination as an intellectual reference, emotional nest, and the mind's eye. The Effect of Expected Lifetime Income on Students' Human Capital Investment Decision-making after Nine-year Compulsory Education

Using data from duo-teacher program, I use the mixed logit model and nested logit model to estimate the effect of expected lifetime income on students' human capital investment decision-making after nine-year compulsory education. The result of the mixed logit model shows that one percentage point increase of expected lifetime income will increase students' 3.98 percentage points' probability of choosing corresponding choice, while the nested logit model shows the marginal effect of 4.38. Fathers' educaiton, family income and students' academic performance have significantly positive effect of students' choice probalitiy of going to normal high school and accepting secondary vocational education, which is consistent with the previous literature. 展开更多
