Based on the active crustal block structures, the Holocene active faults and the wave velocity structures with a resolution of 1°×1°, a two-dimensional finite element model for the tectonic stress-strai...Based on the active crustal block structures, the Holocene active faults and the wave velocity structures with a resolution of 1°×1°, a two-dimensional finite element model for the tectonic stress-strain field of the Chinese mainland is constructed in the paper. Using GPS measurements, the velocity boundary conditions for the model are deduced, then, the annual change patterns of the present-day stress-strain field of the Chinese mainland are simulated. The results show that (1) the general pattern of the recent tectonic deformation in the Chinese mainland is governed by the interactions of its surrounding plates, of which, the Indian Plate plays a major role. There is a NNE-directed velocity distribution in the west of the Chinese mainland. The maximum slip rate appears at the collision boundary. The north-directed components decrease, while the east-directed components increase gradually from south to north and from west to east. In the east part, there is a general east-directed movement, with a certain amount of south-directed components. (2) The present-day tectonic stress field in the Chinese mainland has undergone the process of enhancement in recent years, and this process presents a general pattern of radiating eastwards from the Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet) Plateau as the center. The general pattern is similar to the ambient tectonic stress field, indicating the inheritance of contemporary tectonic deformation on the Chinese mainland. (3) The maximum principal strain presents an obvious pattern of being high in the west and low in the east. The tectonic movement in the west is stronger than that in the east. Large active faults are all located in the high-value zones of maximum principal strain. However, the magnitude of strain is smaller in the interior of the active crustal blocks, which are enclosed by these faults. (4) The stress-strain field of the Sichuan-Yunnan region is unique. It may not be governed by collision of plates alone but a combination of the movement of peripheral active blocks, material flow in the lower crust or upper mantle and special tectonic geometry (such as the eastern Himalayan syntax) as well.展开更多

The cores were maintained in moist condition throughout the experiment and received several treatments with various amendments for different periods ranging from 9 to 17 months. The amendments included annual ryegrass or Festulolium residues, powder limestone and various humate compounds alone or in combination with the grass residues. The results suggested a significant effect of ryegrass and Festulolium in reducing penetration resistance into the top 10 cm of the fragipan within 9 - 17 months, particularly when used in combination with certain humate materials such as Leonardite. Apparently, this is the result of the release of certain soluble organic compounds from the plant residues or the humate amendments that increase the solubility of Si and Al associated with the fragipan brittleness, thus decreasing the density of the compacted fragipan material.展开更多
Background:Prospective analyses have yet to identify a consistent relationship between sleep duration and the incidence of gastrointestinal(GI)cancers.The effect of changes in sleep duration on GI cancer incidence has...Background:Prospective analyses have yet to identify a consistent relationship between sleep duration and the incidence of gastrointestinal(GI)cancers.The effect of changes in sleep duration on GI cancer incidence has scarcely been studied.Therefore,we aimed to examine the association between baseline sleep duration and annual changes in sleep duration and GI cancer risk in a large population-based cohort study.Methods:A total of 123,495 participants with baseline information and 83,511 participants with annual changes in sleep duration information were prospectively observed from 2006 to 2015 for cancer incidence.Cox proportional-hazards models were used to calculate hazard ratios(HRs)and their confidence intervals(CIs)for GI cancers according to sleep duration and annual changes in sleep duration.Results:In baseline sleep duration analyses,short sleep duration(≤5 h)was significantly associated with a lower risk of GI cancer in females(HR:0.31,95%CI:0.10-0.90),and a linear relationship between baseline sleep duration and GI cancer was observed(P=0.010),especially in males and in the>50-year-old group.In the annual changes in sleep duration analyses,with stable category(0 to-15 min/year)as the control group,decreased sleep duration(≤-15 min/year)was significantly associated with the development of GI cancer(HR:1.29;95%CI:1.04-1.61),especially in the>50-year-old group(HR:1.32;95%CI:1.01-1.71),and increased sleep duration(>0 min/year)was significantly associated with GI cancer in females(HR:2.89;95%CI:1.14-7.30).Conclusions:Both sleep duration and annual changes in sleep duration were associated with the incidence of GI cancer.展开更多

The spatial and temporal variations of stable oxygen isotope in precipitation on different time scales are analyzed according to the data from the IAEA/WMO stations with long survey series in the Northern Hemisphere. ...The spatial and temporal variations of stable oxygen isotope in precipitation on different time scales are analyzed according to the data from the IAEA/WMO stations with long survey series in the Northern Hemisphere. Temperature effect is mainly distributed in mid-high latitudes on seasonal scale except for Bamako and Addisababa stations. The δ 18 O/temperature slope displays the positive correlation against altitude for most of the statistical stations. Amount effect appears primarily in the region south of 30 o N and coastal areas. The δ 18 O/precipitation slope is indirectly proportional to precipitation amount. For some of the sampling stations at mid-high latitudes where their seasonal distribution of precipitation is contrary to that of temperature, coupled with temperature effect, the amount effect appears synchronistically. Either the temperature effect or the amount effect on seasonal scale, there are positive correlations to a certain extent between the annual weighted mean δ 18 O and the annual mean temperature for almost all the stations. The correlation between composite δ 18 O and temperature on spatial scale is much more marked, compared with that of individual station. There is a good agreement between 10-year moving average temperature curves I and II, with the values of the former all markedly smaller than corresponding ones of the latter, calculated by the monthly mean series group I and the annual mean series group II, respectively. However, two calculated d δ 18 O/d T curves display the distinct difference: the variation amplitude of slope series II is larger than that of slope series I. Both curves had similar ascending trend from the 1960s to the 1970s, and then, their variations display the anti-phase. Moreover, the analyses show that there is negative correlation between slope series II and temperature series II. However, the status is different for slope series I and temperature series I. Both series have contrary trend from the 1960s to the 1970s, whereas the same trend since the 1980s.展开更多
BACKGROUND Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct(IPNB)is a rare distinct subtype of precursor lesions of biliary carcinoma.IPNB is considered to originate from luminal biliary epithelial cells,typically disp...BACKGROUND Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct(IPNB)is a rare distinct subtype of precursor lesions of biliary carcinoma.IPNB is considered to originate from luminal biliary epithelial cells,typically displays mucin-hypersecretion or a papillary growth pattern,and results in cystic dilatation[1].IPNB develops anywhere in the intrahepatic and extrahepatic biliary tracts,and can occur in various pathological stages from low-grade dysplasia to invasive carcinoma.IPNBs have similar phenotypic changes in the occurrence and development of all subtypes,and the prognosis is significantly better than that of traditional(nonpapillary)cholangiocarcinoma.AIM To evaluate the clinicopathological features of IPNB to provide evidence-based guidance for treatment.METHODS Invasive IPNB,invasive intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm of the pancreas(IPMN),and traditional cholangiocarcinoma data for affected individuals from 1975 to 2016 were obtained from the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)database.Annual percentage changes(APCs)in the incidence and incidence-based(IB)mortality were calculated.We identified the independent predictors of overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS)in indivi duals with invasive IPNB.RESULTS The incidence and IB mortality of invasive IPNB showed sustained decreases,with an APC of-4.5%(95%CI:-5.1%to-3.8%)and-3.3%(95%CI:-4.1%to-2.6%)(P<0.001),respectively.Similar decreases in incidence and IB mortality were seen for invasive IPMN but not for traditional cholangiocarcinoma.Both OS and CSS for invasive IPNB were better than for invasive IPMN and traditional cholangiocarcinoma.A total of 1635 individuals with invasive IPNB were included in our prognosis analysis.The most common tumor sites were the pancreaticobiliary ampulla(47.9%)and perihilar tract(36.7%),but the mucin-related subtype of invasive IPNB was the main type,intrahepatically(approximately 90%).In the univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis,age,tumor site,grade and stage,subtype,surgery,and chemotherapy were associated with OS and CSS(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Incidence and IB mortality of invasive IPNB trended steadily downward.The heterogeneity of IPNB comprises site and the tumor’s mucin-producing status.展开更多
BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is an idiopathic intestinal disease with various levels and trends in different countries and regions.Understanding the current burden and trends of IBD in various geographica...BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is an idiopathic intestinal disease with various levels and trends in different countries and regions.Understanding the current burden and trends of IBD in various geographical locations is essential to establish effective strategies for prevention and treatment.We report the average annual percentage change(AAPC)and estimated annual percentage change(EAPC)in age-standardized rates(ASR)of IBD in different regions based on the Global Burden of Disease(GBD)study from 1990-2019,and the relationships between IBD and the human development index(HDI)and socio-demographic index(SDI).The prevalence trends of IBD were predicted by gender from 2019-2039.AIM To comprehensively investigate IBD data,providing further insights into the management of this chronic disease.METHODS We collected the information on the incidence of IBD from the GBD study from 1990-2019 to calculate the AAPC and EAPC in ASR of IBD in different regions.The relationships between IBD,HDI,and SDI were analyzed.The Nordpred and Bayesian age-period-cohort models were used to predict the prevalence trends of IBD by gender from 2019-2039,and the reliability of the results was validated.RESULTS North America consistently had the highest IBD ASR,while Oceania consistently had the lowest.East Asia had the fastest average annual growth in ASR(2.54%),whereas Central Europe had the fastest decline(1.38%).Countries with a low age-standardized incidence rates in 1990 showed faster growth in IBD while there was no significant correlation in 2019.Additionally,IBD increased faster in countries with a low age-standardized death rates in 1990,whereas the opposite was true in 2019.Analysis of SDI and IBD ASR showed that countries with a high SDI generally had a higher IBD ASR.Finally,the projections showed a declining trend in the incidence of IBD from 2019-2039,but a gradual increase in the number of cases.CONCLUSION As the global population increases and ages,early monitoring and prevention of IBD is important to reduce the disease burden,especially in countries with a high incidence of IBD.展开更多
BACKGROUND Gallbladder and biliary diseases(GABDs)are a major public health issue.AIM To analysis the cause-specific incidence,prevalence,and years lived with disability(YLDs)and its temporal trends of GABDs at the gl...BACKGROUND Gallbladder and biliary diseases(GABDs)are a major public health issue.AIM To analysis the cause-specific incidence,prevalence,and years lived with disability(YLDs)and its temporal trends of GABDs at the global,regional,and national level.Data on GABD were available from the Global Burden of Disease study 2019.METHODS The estimated annual percentage change(EAPC)was used to quantify temporal trend in GABD age-standardized incidence rates(ASIRs),age-standardized prevalence rate(ASPR),and age-standardized YLD rate(ASYR)by region,sex.We analyzed the relationship between the GABD burden and country development level using the human development index(HDI).RESULTS In 2019,the incident cases of GABD were 52003772,with an ASIR of 63432/100000 population.Globally,the number of incident cases and ASIR of GABD increased 97%and 58.9%between 1990 and 2019.Although,the ASPR and ASYR decreased from 1990 to 2019,the number of prevalent and YLDs cases increased.The highest ASIR was observed in Italy,and the highest ASPR and ASYR was observed in United Kingdom.The highest burden of GABD was found in low-SDI region,and the burden in female was significantly higher than males.A generally negative correlation(ρ=-0.24,P<0.05)of GABD with the EAPC and human development index(HDI)(in 2021)were observed for ASIR.What’s more,no correlation in ASPR(ρ=-0.06,P=0.39)and ASYR(ρ=-0.07,P=0.36)of GABD with the EAPC and HDI(in 2021)were observed,respectively.CONCLUSION GABD remain a major global public health challenge;however,the burden of GABD varies geographically.Globally,the number of incident cases and ASIR of GABD increased between 1990 and 2019.The results of our study provide insight into the global disease burden of GABD and may assist policymakers in formulating effective policies to mitigate modifiable risk factors.展开更多

BACKGROUND Studies exploring suicide mortality on a global scale are sparse,and most evaluations were limited to certain populations.AIM To assess global,regional and national trends of suicide mortality.METHODS Suici...BACKGROUND Studies exploring suicide mortality on a global scale are sparse,and most evaluations were limited to certain populations.AIM To assess global,regional and national trends of suicide mortality.METHODS Suicide mortality data for the period 2000-2019 were obtained from the mortality database of the World Health Organization and the Global Burden of Disease Study.Age-standardized rates(ASRs;expressed per 100000)were presented.To assess trends of suicide mortality,joinpoint regression analysis was used:The average annual percent change(AAPC)with the corresponding 95%confidence interval(95%CI)was calculated.RESULTS A total of 759028(523883 male and 235145 female)suicide deaths were reported worldwide in 2019.The global ASR of mortality of suicide was 9.0/100000 population in both sexes(12.6 in males vs 5.4 in females).In both sexes,the highest rates were found in the region of Africa(ASR=11.2),while the lowest rates were reported in Eastern Mediterranean(ASR=6.4).Globally,from 2000 to 2019,ASRs of mortality of suicide had a decreasing tendency in both sexes together[AAPC=-2.4%per year;95%CI:(-2.6)-(-2.3)].The region of the Americas experienced a significant increase in suicide mortality over 2000-2019 unlike other regions that had a declining trend.Out of all 133 countries with a decline in suicide mortality,Barbados(AAPC=-10.0%),Grenada(AAPC=-8.5%),Serbia(AAPC=-7.6%),and Venezuela(AAPC=-6.2%)showed the most marked reduction in mortality rates.Out of all 26 countries with a rise in suicide mortality,Lesotho(AAPC=+6.0%),Cyprus(AAPC=+5.1%),Paraguay(AAPC=+3.0%),Saudi Arabia(AAPC=+2.8%),Brunei(AAPC=+2.6%),Greece(AAPC=+2.6%),Georgia(AAPC=+2.1%),and Mexico(AAPC=+2.0%),are among those with the highest increase in mortality.CONCLUSION Decreasing trends in suicide mortality were observed in most countries across the world.Unfortunately,the mortality of suicide showed an increasing trend in a number of populations.Further research should explore the reasons for these unfavorable trends,in order to consider and recommend more efforts for suicide prevention in these countries.展开更多

Thus, a...Soil organic carbon(SOC) is a major component of the global carbon cycle and has a potentially large impact on the greenhouse effect. Paddy soils are important agricultural soils worldwide, especially in Asia. Thus, a better understanding of the relationship between SOC of paddy soils and climate variables is crucial to a robust understanding of the potential effect of climate change on the global carbon cycle. A soil profile data set(n = 1490) from the Second National Soil Survey of China conducted from 1979 to 1994 was used to explore the relationships of SOC density with mean annual temperature(MAT) and mean annual precipitation(MAP) in six soil regions and eight paddy soil subgroups. Results showed that SOC density of paddy soils was negatively correlated with MAT and positively correlated with MAP(P < 0.01). The relationships of SOC density with MAT and MAP were weak and varied among the six soil regions and eight paddy soil subgroups. A preliminary assessment of the response of SOC in Chinese paddy soils to climate indicated that climate could lead to a 13% SOC loss from paddy soils. Compared to other soil regions, paddy soils in Northern China will potentially more sensitive to climate change over the next several decades. Paddy soils in Middle and Lower Yangtze River Basin could be a potential carbon sink. Reducing the climate impact on paddy soil SOC will mitigate the positive feedback loop between SOC release and global climate change.展开更多
BACKGROUND Primary liver cancer is common in West Africa due to endemic risk factors.However,epidemiological studies of the global burden and trends of liver cancer are limited.We report changes in trends of the incid...BACKGROUND Primary liver cancer is common in West Africa due to endemic risk factors.However,epidemiological studies of the global burden and trends of liver cancer are limited.We report changes in trends of the incidence of liver cancer over a period of 28 years using the population-based cancer registry of Bamako,Mali.To assess the trends and patterns of liver cancer by gender and age groups by analyzing the cancer registration data accumulated over 28 years(1987-2015)of activity of the population-based registry of the Bamako district.METHODS Data obtained since the inception of the registry in 1987 through 2015 were stratified into three periods(1987-1996,1997-2006,and 2007-2015).Age-standardized rates were estimated by direct standardization using the world population.Incidence rate ratios and the corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CI)were estimated using the early period as the reference(1987-1996).Joinpoint regression models were used to assess the annual percentage change and highlight trends over the entire period(from 1987 to 2015).RESULTS Among males,the age-standardized incidence rates significantly decreased from 19.41(1987-1996)to 13.12(1997-2006)to 8.15(2007-2015)per 105 person-years.The incidence rate ratio over 28 years was 0.42(95%CI:0.34-0.50),and the annual percentage change was-4.59[95%CI:(-6.4)-(-2.7)].Among females,rates dropped continuously from 7.02(1987-1996)to 2.57(2007-2015)per 105 person-years,with an incidence rate ratio of 0.37(95%CI:0.28-0.45)and an annual percentage change of-5.63[95%CI:(-8.9)-(-2.3)].CONCLUSION The population-based registration showed that the incidence of primary liver cancer has steadily decreased in the Bamako district over 28 years.This trend does not appear to result from biases or changes in registration practices.This is the first report of such a decrease in an area of high incidence of liver cancer in Africa.This decrease may be explained by the changes and diversity of diet that could reduce exposure to aflatoxins through dietary contamination in this population.展开更多
The long-term observational data of sunshine duration(SD) and diffuse radiation percentage(defined as diffuse solar radiation/total solar radiation, DRP) on sunny days during 1960–2005 were analyzed in 7 urban ag...The long-term observational data of sunshine duration(SD) and diffuse radiation percentage(defined as diffuse solar radiation/total solar radiation, DRP) on sunny days during 1960–2005 were analyzed in 7 urban agglomerations and the whole of China. The results show that the sunny sunshine duration(SSD) has decreased significantly except at a few stations over northwestern China in the past 46 years. An obvious decrease of the SSD is found in eastern China, with the trend coefficients lower than-0.8. Accompanied by the SSD decline, the sunny diffuse radiation percentage(SDRP) in most stations shows obvious increasing trends during the 46 years. The averaged SDRP over China has increased 2.33%per decade, while the averaged SSD shows a decrease of-0.13 hr/day per decade. The correlation coefficient between SDRP and SSD is-0.88. SSD decreased over urban agglomerations(small to large city clusters) in the past 46 years, especially in large cities and medium cities, due to the strong anthropogenic activities and air pollution represented by aerosol option depth(AOD) and tropospheric column NO2(Tro NO2). On the regional scale, SSD has an opposite trend from SDRP during 1960 to 2005, and the variation trends of regional mean values of SSD and SDRP in southeastern China are more pronounced than those in northwestern China.展开更多
Influenza viruses continue to cause epidemics worldwide every year.However,due to the lack of an effective assessment for the severity of influenza epidemics,it was extremely difficult to take preventative measures.Da...Influenza viruses continue to cause epidemics worldwide every year.However,due to the lack of an effective assessment for the severity of influenza epidemics,it was extremely difficult to take preventative measures.Data were extracted from infectious diseases reports from 2011–2018.Joinpoint regression model and susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered model were built to understand the characteristics and processes of the epidemic.The reported incidence of influenza was 1,913,698 from January 2011 to February 2018,with an average-yearly-reported-incidence-rate of 19.21 per 100,000.However,there had been a substantial nationwide epidemic of influenza after September 2017,when the average yearly reported incidence rate was 87.29 per 100,000 and an annual percentage change of 48.1%.The hemagglutinin genes of most influenza A(H1N1 and H3N2)viruses from the period of the epidemic had lower homology to those before August 2017.All the hemagglutinin of the recommended A(H3N2,H1N1)and B(Victoria)viruses for vaccines 2017/2018 had low matches with the epidemic viruses.The basic reproduction number was 1.53.The vaccination benefit was linearly related to vaccination coverage,while the quarantine measure had only significantly benefited when over 60%of the quarantined population.The most severe epidemic of influenza in China since 2011 occurred during the period from September 2017 to February 2018.Compared to quarantine,influenza vaccination is more effective way to prevent influenza,and strategies to increase vaccination coverage should be taken for the prevention of severe epidemics of influenza.展开更多
Background:Gastrointestinal(GI)cancers were responsible for 26.3%of cancer cases and 35.4%of deaths worldwide in 2018.This study aimed to analyze the global incidence,mortality,prevalence,and contributing risk factors...Background:Gastrointestinal(GI)cancers were responsible for 26.3%of cancer cases and 35.4%of deaths worldwide in 2018.This study aimed to analyze the global incidence,mortality,prevalence,and contributing risk factors of the 6 major GI cancer entities[esophageal cancer(EC),gastric cancer(GC),liver cancer(LC),pancreatic cancer(PC),colon cancer,and rectal cancer].Methods:Using the Global Cancer Observatory and the Global Health Observatory databases,we reviewed the current GI cancer incidence,prevalence,and mortality,analyzed the association of GI cancer prevalence with national human development indices(HDIs),identified the contributing risk factors,and estimated developing age-and sex-specific trends in incidence and mortality.Results:In 2020,the trend in age-standardized rate of incidence of GI cancers closely mirrored that of mortality,with the highest rates of LC,EC,and GC in Asia and of colorectal cancer(CRC)and PC mainly in Europe.Incidence and mortality were positively,but the mortality-to-incidence ratio(MIR)was inversely correlated with the national HDI levels.High MIRs in developing countries likely reflected the lack of preventive strategies and effective treatments.GI cancer prevalence was highest in Europe and was also positively correlated with HDIs and lifestyle-associated risk factors,such as alcohol consumption,smoking,obesity,insufficient physical activity,and high blood cholesterol level,but negatively correlated with hypertension and diabetes.Incidences of EC were consistently and those of GC mostly decreasing,whereas incidences of CRC were increasing in most countries/regions,especially in the younger populations.Incidences of LC and PC were also increasing in all age-gender populations except for younger males.Mortalities were decreasing for EC,GC,and CRC in most countries/regions, and age-specific trends were observed in PC and LC with adecrease in the younger but an increase in the older population.Conclusions: On the global scale, higher GI cancer burden was accompanied,for the most part, by factors associated with the so-called Western lifestylereflected by high and very high national HDI levels. In countries/regionswith very high HDI levels, patients survived longer, and increasing GI cancercases were observed with increasing national HDI levels. Optimizing GI cancer prevention and improving therapies, especially for patients with comorbidmetabolic diseases, are thus urgently recommended.展开更多
Background:Thus far,the incidence,mortality,and temporal trend data of oropharyngeal cancers(OPC)in China were few.We estimated the incidence,mortality,and temporal patterns of OPC in China during 2008-2012 according ...Background:Thus far,the incidence,mortality,and temporal trend data of oropharyngeal cancers(OPC)in China were few.We estimated the incidence,mortality,and temporal patterns of OPC in China during 2008-2012 according to the data from 135 population-based cancer registries to better understand the epidemiological pattern of OPC and to provide more precise information for OPC control in China.Methods:According to the data of diagnosed OPC reported to 135 cancer registries during 2008-2012,we calcu-lated age-standardized rate of incidence and mortality by 2000 Chinese standard population(ASRIC and ASRMC)and by 1985 Segi’s world standard population(ASRIW and ASRMW)by age,sex,and geographic regions;annual percent-age changes of OPC incidence and mortality were calculated using Joinpoint trend analysis.Results:ASRIW and ASRMW were 2.22/100,000 person-years and 0.94/100,000 person-years,respectively.The incidence and mortality in urban areas were higher than those in rural areas.ASRIC and ASRIW of males were higher than those of females.The overall ASRIC of OPC was significantly increased by 6.2%annually between 2003 and 2006(P=0.038),but remained stable between 2007 and 2012(P=0.392).ASRIC and ASRMC of males and in rural areas were significantly increased in the last decade(P<0.05),but the rates of females remained stable during the same period(P>0.05).Conclusions:Across multiple cancer registries in China,there was an obvious increase in OPC in the recent decade,especially for incidence and mortality of males and in rural areas,whereas the rates of females remained stable.A healthy lifestyle should be advocated and early diagnosis and early treatment of OPC should be enhanced.展开更多

We determined the gonadal diameter, gonadosomatic index of each amphioxus, and observed the histological characteristic of the gonadal development of the female and male by cut section, which provided the basis for dividing the stages gonads and the determining level of the gonadal development of amphioxus in each month.
文摘<Abstrat>The surface sediment samples were collected month by month at nine stations in the Daya Bay from January to December 1987, and the number of anaerobic sulfite reducing bacteria and their spores and the regularity of seasonal change were determined. The effect of environmental factors, water temperature and the resoluble oxygen concentration in the bottom of seawater on the number of them were discussed. The results show that the number of anaerobic su|fite reducing bacteria were low in sediment of the Daya Bay, indicating that the hay was less contaminated.

文摘Based on the active crustal block structures, the Holocene active faults and the wave velocity structures with a resolution of 1°×1°, a two-dimensional finite element model for the tectonic stress-strain field of the Chinese mainland is constructed in the paper. Using GPS measurements, the velocity boundary conditions for the model are deduced, then, the annual change patterns of the present-day stress-strain field of the Chinese mainland are simulated. The results show that (1) the general pattern of the recent tectonic deformation in the Chinese mainland is governed by the interactions of its surrounding plates, of which, the Indian Plate plays a major role. There is a NNE-directed velocity distribution in the west of the Chinese mainland. The maximum slip rate appears at the collision boundary. The north-directed components decrease, while the east-directed components increase gradually from south to north and from west to east. In the east part, there is a general east-directed movement, with a certain amount of south-directed components. (2) The present-day tectonic stress field in the Chinese mainland has undergone the process of enhancement in recent years, and this process presents a general pattern of radiating eastwards from the Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet) Plateau as the center. The general pattern is similar to the ambient tectonic stress field, indicating the inheritance of contemporary tectonic deformation on the Chinese mainland. (3) The maximum principal strain presents an obvious pattern of being high in the west and low in the east. The tectonic movement in the west is stronger than that in the east. Large active faults are all located in the high-value zones of maximum principal strain. However, the magnitude of strain is smaller in the interior of the active crustal blocks, which are enclosed by these faults. (4) The stress-strain field of the Sichuan-Yunnan region is unique. It may not be governed by collision of plates alone but a combination of the movement of peripheral active blocks, material flow in the lower crust or upper mantle and special tectonic geometry (such as the eastern Himalayan syntax) as well.
文摘A greenhouse experiment was conducted involving intact fragipan soil cores of 50 cm thickness after removing the topsoil horizons. The cores were maintained in moist condition throughout the experiment and received several treatments with various amendments for different periods ranging from 9 to 17 months. The amendments included annual ryegrass or Festulolium residues, powder limestone and various humate compounds alone or in combination with the grass residues. The results suggested a significant effect of ryegrass and Festulolium in reducing penetration resistance into the top 10 cm of the fragipan within 9 - 17 months, particularly when used in combination with certain humate materials such as Leonardite. Apparently, this is the result of the release of certain soluble organic compounds from the plant residues or the humate amendments that increase the solubility of Si and Al associated with the fragipan brittleness, thus decreasing the density of the compacted fragipan material.

文摘Background:Prospective analyses have yet to identify a consistent relationship between sleep duration and the incidence of gastrointestinal(GI)cancers.The effect of changes in sleep duration on GI cancer incidence has scarcely been studied.Therefore,we aimed to examine the association between baseline sleep duration and annual changes in sleep duration and GI cancer risk in a large population-based cohort study.Methods:A total of 123,495 participants with baseline information and 83,511 participants with annual changes in sleep duration information were prospectively observed from 2006 to 2015 for cancer incidence.Cox proportional-hazards models were used to calculate hazard ratios(HRs)and their confidence intervals(CIs)for GI cancers according to sleep duration and annual changes in sleep duration.Results:In baseline sleep duration analyses,short sleep duration(≤5 h)was significantly associated with a lower risk of GI cancer in females(HR:0.31,95%CI:0.10-0.90),and a linear relationship between baseline sleep duration and GI cancer was observed(P=0.010),especially in males and in the>50-year-old group.In the annual changes in sleep duration analyses,with stable category(0 to-15 min/year)as the control group,decreased sleep duration(≤-15 min/year)was significantly associated with the development of GI cancer(HR:1.29;95%CI:1.04-1.61),especially in the>50-year-old group(HR:1.32;95%CI:1.01-1.71),and increased sleep duration(>0 min/year)was significantly associated with GI cancer in females(HR:2.89;95%CI:1.14-7.30).Conclusions:Both sleep duration and annual changes in sleep duration were associated with the incidence of GI cancer.

文摘The spatial and temporal variations of stable oxygen isotope in precipitation on different time scales are analyzed according to the data from the IAEA/WMO stations with long survey series in the Northern Hemisphere. Temperature effect is mainly distributed in mid-high latitudes on seasonal scale except for Bamako and Addisababa stations. The δ 18 O/temperature slope displays the positive correlation against altitude for most of the statistical stations. Amount effect appears primarily in the region south of 30 o N and coastal areas. The δ 18 O/precipitation slope is indirectly proportional to precipitation amount. For some of the sampling stations at mid-high latitudes where their seasonal distribution of precipitation is contrary to that of temperature, coupled with temperature effect, the amount effect appears synchronistically. Either the temperature effect or the amount effect on seasonal scale, there are positive correlations to a certain extent between the annual weighted mean δ 18 O and the annual mean temperature for almost all the stations. The correlation between composite δ 18 O and temperature on spatial scale is much more marked, compared with that of individual station. There is a good agreement between 10-year moving average temperature curves I and II, with the values of the former all markedly smaller than corresponding ones of the latter, calculated by the monthly mean series group I and the annual mean series group II, respectively. However, two calculated d δ 18 O/d T curves display the distinct difference: the variation amplitude of slope series II is larger than that of slope series I. Both curves had similar ascending trend from the 1960s to the 1970s, and then, their variations display the anti-phase. Moreover, the analyses show that there is negative correlation between slope series II and temperature series II. However, the status is different for slope series I and temperature series I. Both series have contrary trend from the 1960s to the 1970s, whereas the same trend since the 1980s.

文摘BACKGROUND Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct(IPNB)is a rare distinct subtype of precursor lesions of biliary carcinoma.IPNB is considered to originate from luminal biliary epithelial cells,typically displays mucin-hypersecretion or a papillary growth pattern,and results in cystic dilatation[1].IPNB develops anywhere in the intrahepatic and extrahepatic biliary tracts,and can occur in various pathological stages from low-grade dysplasia to invasive carcinoma.IPNBs have similar phenotypic changes in the occurrence and development of all subtypes,and the prognosis is significantly better than that of traditional(nonpapillary)cholangiocarcinoma.AIM To evaluate the clinicopathological features of IPNB to provide evidence-based guidance for treatment.METHODS Invasive IPNB,invasive intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm of the pancreas(IPMN),and traditional cholangiocarcinoma data for affected individuals from 1975 to 2016 were obtained from the Surveillance,Epidemiology,and End Results(SEER)database.Annual percentage changes(APCs)in the incidence and incidence-based(IB)mortality were calculated.We identified the independent predictors of overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS)in indivi duals with invasive IPNB.RESULTS The incidence and IB mortality of invasive IPNB showed sustained decreases,with an APC of-4.5%(95%CI:-5.1%to-3.8%)and-3.3%(95%CI:-4.1%to-2.6%)(P<0.001),respectively.Similar decreases in incidence and IB mortality were seen for invasive IPMN but not for traditional cholangiocarcinoma.Both OS and CSS for invasive IPNB were better than for invasive IPMN and traditional cholangiocarcinoma.A total of 1635 individuals with invasive IPNB were included in our prognosis analysis.The most common tumor sites were the pancreaticobiliary ampulla(47.9%)and perihilar tract(36.7%),but the mucin-related subtype of invasive IPNB was the main type,intrahepatically(approximately 90%).In the univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis,age,tumor site,grade and stage,subtype,surgery,and chemotherapy were associated with OS and CSS(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Incidence and IB mortality of invasive IPNB trended steadily downward.The heterogeneity of IPNB comprises site and the tumor’s mucin-producing status.

文摘BACKGROUND Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is an idiopathic intestinal disease with various levels and trends in different countries and regions.Understanding the current burden and trends of IBD in various geographical locations is essential to establish effective strategies for prevention and treatment.We report the average annual percentage change(AAPC)and estimated annual percentage change(EAPC)in age-standardized rates(ASR)of IBD in different regions based on the Global Burden of Disease(GBD)study from 1990-2019,and the relationships between IBD and the human development index(HDI)and socio-demographic index(SDI).The prevalence trends of IBD were predicted by gender from 2019-2039.AIM To comprehensively investigate IBD data,providing further insights into the management of this chronic disease.METHODS We collected the information on the incidence of IBD from the GBD study from 1990-2019 to calculate the AAPC and EAPC in ASR of IBD in different regions.The relationships between IBD,HDI,and SDI were analyzed.The Nordpred and Bayesian age-period-cohort models were used to predict the prevalence trends of IBD by gender from 2019-2039,and the reliability of the results was validated.RESULTS North America consistently had the highest IBD ASR,while Oceania consistently had the lowest.East Asia had the fastest average annual growth in ASR(2.54%),whereas Central Europe had the fastest decline(1.38%).Countries with a low age-standardized incidence rates in 1990 showed faster growth in IBD while there was no significant correlation in 2019.Additionally,IBD increased faster in countries with a low age-standardized death rates in 1990,whereas the opposite was true in 2019.Analysis of SDI and IBD ASR showed that countries with a high SDI generally had a higher IBD ASR.Finally,the projections showed a declining trend in the incidence of IBD from 2019-2039,but a gradual increase in the number of cases.CONCLUSION As the global population increases and ages,early monitoring and prevention of IBD is important to reduce the disease burden,especially in countries with a high incidence of IBD.
文摘BACKGROUND Gallbladder and biliary diseases(GABDs)are a major public health issue.AIM To analysis the cause-specific incidence,prevalence,and years lived with disability(YLDs)and its temporal trends of GABDs at the global,regional,and national level.Data on GABD were available from the Global Burden of Disease study 2019.METHODS The estimated annual percentage change(EAPC)was used to quantify temporal trend in GABD age-standardized incidence rates(ASIRs),age-standardized prevalence rate(ASPR),and age-standardized YLD rate(ASYR)by region,sex.We analyzed the relationship between the GABD burden and country development level using the human development index(HDI).RESULTS In 2019,the incident cases of GABD were 52003772,with an ASIR of 63432/100000 population.Globally,the number of incident cases and ASIR of GABD increased 97%and 58.9%between 1990 and 2019.Although,the ASPR and ASYR decreased from 1990 to 2019,the number of prevalent and YLDs cases increased.The highest ASIR was observed in Italy,and the highest ASPR and ASYR was observed in United Kingdom.The highest burden of GABD was found in low-SDI region,and the burden in female was significantly higher than males.A generally negative correlation(ρ=-0.24,P<0.05)of GABD with the EAPC and human development index(HDI)(in 2021)were observed for ASIR.What’s more,no correlation in ASPR(ρ=-0.06,P=0.39)and ASYR(ρ=-0.07,P=0.36)of GABD with the EAPC and HDI(in 2021)were observed,respectively.CONCLUSION GABD remain a major global public health challenge;however,the burden of GABD varies geographically.Globally,the number of incident cases and ASIR of GABD increased between 1990 and 2019.The results of our study provide insight into the global disease burden of GABD and may assist policymakers in formulating effective policies to mitigate modifiable risk factors.

文摘On the basis of a 3-dimension visco-elastic finite element model of lithosphere in North China, we numerically simulate the recent mutative figures of tectonic stress field. Annual change characteristics of stress field are: 1 ) Maximum principal tensile stress is about 3 -9 kPaa-1 and its azimuth lie in NNW-SSE. 2) Maximum principal compressive stress is about 1 - 6 kPaa-1 and its azimuth lie in NEE-SWW. 3 ) Maximum principal tensile stress is higher both in the west region and Liaoning Province. 4) Variation of tectonic stress field benefits fault movement in the west part and northeast part of North China. 5 )Annual accumulative rates of Coulomb fracture stress in Tanlu fault belt have segmentation patterns: Jiashan-Guangji segment is the high- est (6 kPaa - 1 ) , Anshan-Liaodongwan segment is the second (5 kPaa - l ) , and others are relatively lower ( 3 - 4 kPaa-1 ).

文摘BACKGROUND Studies exploring suicide mortality on a global scale are sparse,and most evaluations were limited to certain populations.AIM To assess global,regional and national trends of suicide mortality.METHODS Suicide mortality data for the period 2000-2019 were obtained from the mortality database of the World Health Organization and the Global Burden of Disease Study.Age-standardized rates(ASRs;expressed per 100000)were presented.To assess trends of suicide mortality,joinpoint regression analysis was used:The average annual percent change(AAPC)with the corresponding 95%confidence interval(95%CI)was calculated.RESULTS A total of 759028(523883 male and 235145 female)suicide deaths were reported worldwide in 2019.The global ASR of mortality of suicide was 9.0/100000 population in both sexes(12.6 in males vs 5.4 in females).In both sexes,the highest rates were found in the region of Africa(ASR=11.2),while the lowest rates were reported in Eastern Mediterranean(ASR=6.4).Globally,from 2000 to 2019,ASRs of mortality of suicide had a decreasing tendency in both sexes together[AAPC=-2.4%per year;95%CI:(-2.6)-(-2.3)].The region of the Americas experienced a significant increase in suicide mortality over 2000-2019 unlike other regions that had a declining trend.Out of all 133 countries with a decline in suicide mortality,Barbados(AAPC=-10.0%),Grenada(AAPC=-8.5%),Serbia(AAPC=-7.6%),and Venezuela(AAPC=-6.2%)showed the most marked reduction in mortality rates.Out of all 26 countries with a rise in suicide mortality,Lesotho(AAPC=+6.0%),Cyprus(AAPC=+5.1%),Paraguay(AAPC=+3.0%),Saudi Arabia(AAPC=+2.8%),Brunei(AAPC=+2.6%),Greece(AAPC=+2.6%),Georgia(AAPC=+2.1%),and Mexico(AAPC=+2.0%),are among those with the highest increase in mortality.CONCLUSION Decreasing trends in suicide mortality were observed in most countries across the world.Unfortunately,the mortality of suicide showed an increasing trend in a number of populations.Further research should explore the reasons for these unfavorable trends,in order to consider and recommend more efforts for suicide prevention in these countries.

文摘Soil organic carbon(SOC) is a major component of the global carbon cycle and has a potentially large impact on the greenhouse effect. Paddy soils are important agricultural soils worldwide, especially in Asia. Thus, a better understanding of the relationship between SOC of paddy soils and climate variables is crucial to a robust understanding of the potential effect of climate change on the global carbon cycle. A soil profile data set(n = 1490) from the Second National Soil Survey of China conducted from 1979 to 1994 was used to explore the relationships of SOC density with mean annual temperature(MAT) and mean annual precipitation(MAP) in six soil regions and eight paddy soil subgroups. Results showed that SOC density of paddy soils was negatively correlated with MAT and positively correlated with MAP(P < 0.01). The relationships of SOC density with MAT and MAP were weak and varied among the six soil regions and eight paddy soil subgroups. A preliminary assessment of the response of SOC in Chinese paddy soils to climate indicated that climate could lead to a 13% SOC loss from paddy soils. Compared to other soil regions, paddy soils in Northern China will potentially more sensitive to climate change over the next several decades. Paddy soils in Middle and Lower Yangtze River Basin could be a potential carbon sink. Reducing the climate impact on paddy soil SOC will mitigate the positive feedback loop between SOC release and global climate change.
文摘BACKGROUND Primary liver cancer is common in West Africa due to endemic risk factors.However,epidemiological studies of the global burden and trends of liver cancer are limited.We report changes in trends of the incidence of liver cancer over a period of 28 years using the population-based cancer registry of Bamako,Mali.To assess the trends and patterns of liver cancer by gender and age groups by analyzing the cancer registration data accumulated over 28 years(1987-2015)of activity of the population-based registry of the Bamako district.METHODS Data obtained since the inception of the registry in 1987 through 2015 were stratified into three periods(1987-1996,1997-2006,and 2007-2015).Age-standardized rates were estimated by direct standardization using the world population.Incidence rate ratios and the corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CI)were estimated using the early period as the reference(1987-1996).Joinpoint regression models were used to assess the annual percentage change and highlight trends over the entire period(from 1987 to 2015).RESULTS Among males,the age-standardized incidence rates significantly decreased from 19.41(1987-1996)to 13.12(1997-2006)to 8.15(2007-2015)per 105 person-years.The incidence rate ratio over 28 years was 0.42(95%CI:0.34-0.50),and the annual percentage change was-4.59[95%CI:(-6.4)-(-2.7)].Among females,rates dropped continuously from 7.02(1987-1996)to 2.57(2007-2015)per 105 person-years,with an incidence rate ratio of 0.37(95%CI:0.28-0.45)and an annual percentage change of-5.63[95%CI:(-8.9)-(-2.3)].CONCLUSION The population-based registration showed that the incidence of primary liver cancer has steadily decreased in the Bamako district over 28 years.This trend does not appear to result from biases or changes in registration practices.This is the first report of such a decrease in an area of high incidence of liver cancer in Africa.This decrease may be explained by the changes and diversity of diet that could reduce exposure to aflatoxins through dietary contamination in this population.

文摘The long-term observational data of sunshine duration(SD) and diffuse radiation percentage(defined as diffuse solar radiation/total solar radiation, DRP) on sunny days during 1960–2005 were analyzed in 7 urban agglomerations and the whole of China. The results show that the sunny sunshine duration(SSD) has decreased significantly except at a few stations over northwestern China in the past 46 years. An obvious decrease of the SSD is found in eastern China, with the trend coefficients lower than-0.8. Accompanied by the SSD decline, the sunny diffuse radiation percentage(SDRP) in most stations shows obvious increasing trends during the 46 years. The averaged SDRP over China has increased 2.33%per decade, while the averaged SSD shows a decrease of-0.13 hr/day per decade. The correlation coefficient between SDRP and SSD is-0.88. SSD decreased over urban agglomerations(small to large city clusters) in the past 46 years, especially in large cities and medium cities, due to the strong anthropogenic activities and air pollution represented by aerosol option depth(AOD) and tropospheric column NO2(Tro NO2). On the regional scale, SSD has an opposite trend from SDRP during 1960 to 2005, and the variation trends of regional mean values of SSD and SDRP in southeastern China are more pronounced than those in northwestern China.

文摘Influenza viruses continue to cause epidemics worldwide every year.However,due to the lack of an effective assessment for the severity of influenza epidemics,it was extremely difficult to take preventative measures.Data were extracted from infectious diseases reports from 2011–2018.Joinpoint regression model and susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered model were built to understand the characteristics and processes of the epidemic.The reported incidence of influenza was 1,913,698 from January 2011 to February 2018,with an average-yearly-reported-incidence-rate of 19.21 per 100,000.However,there had been a substantial nationwide epidemic of influenza after September 2017,when the average yearly reported incidence rate was 87.29 per 100,000 and an annual percentage change of 48.1%.The hemagglutinin genes of most influenza A(H1N1 and H3N2)viruses from the period of the epidemic had lower homology to those before August 2017.All the hemagglutinin of the recommended A(H3N2,H1N1)and B(Victoria)viruses for vaccines 2017/2018 had low matches with the epidemic viruses.The basic reproduction number was 1.53.The vaccination benefit was linearly related to vaccination coverage,while the quarantine measure had only significantly benefited when over 60%of the quarantined population.The most severe epidemic of influenza in China since 2011 occurred during the period from September 2017 to February 2018.Compared to quarantine,influenza vaccination is more effective way to prevent influenza,and strategies to increase vaccination coverage should be taken for the prevention of severe epidemics of influenza.

文摘Background:Gastrointestinal(GI)cancers were responsible for 26.3%of cancer cases and 35.4%of deaths worldwide in 2018.This study aimed to analyze the global incidence,mortality,prevalence,and contributing risk factors of the 6 major GI cancer entities[esophageal cancer(EC),gastric cancer(GC),liver cancer(LC),pancreatic cancer(PC),colon cancer,and rectal cancer].Methods:Using the Global Cancer Observatory and the Global Health Observatory databases,we reviewed the current GI cancer incidence,prevalence,and mortality,analyzed the association of GI cancer prevalence with national human development indices(HDIs),identified the contributing risk factors,and estimated developing age-and sex-specific trends in incidence and mortality.Results:In 2020,the trend in age-standardized rate of incidence of GI cancers closely mirrored that of mortality,with the highest rates of LC,EC,and GC in Asia and of colorectal cancer(CRC)and PC mainly in Europe.Incidence and mortality were positively,but the mortality-to-incidence ratio(MIR)was inversely correlated with the national HDI levels.High MIRs in developing countries likely reflected the lack of preventive strategies and effective treatments.GI cancer prevalence was highest in Europe and was also positively correlated with HDIs and lifestyle-associated risk factors,such as alcohol consumption,smoking,obesity,insufficient physical activity,and high blood cholesterol level,but negatively correlated with hypertension and diabetes.Incidences of EC were consistently and those of GC mostly decreasing,whereas incidences of CRC were increasing in most countries/regions,especially in the younger populations.Incidences of LC and PC were also increasing in all age-gender populations except for younger males.Mortalities were decreasing for EC,GC,and CRC in most countries/regions, and age-specific trends were observed in PC and LC with adecrease in the younger but an increase in the older population.Conclusions: On the global scale, higher GI cancer burden was accompanied,for the most part, by factors associated with the so-called Western lifestylereflected by high and very high national HDI levels. In countries/regionswith very high HDI levels, patients survived longer, and increasing GI cancercases were observed with increasing national HDI levels. Optimizing GI cancer prevention and improving therapies, especially for patients with comorbidmetabolic diseases, are thus urgently recommended.

文摘Background:Thus far,the incidence,mortality,and temporal trend data of oropharyngeal cancers(OPC)in China were few.We estimated the incidence,mortality,and temporal patterns of OPC in China during 2008-2012 according to the data from 135 population-based cancer registries to better understand the epidemiological pattern of OPC and to provide more precise information for OPC control in China.Methods:According to the data of diagnosed OPC reported to 135 cancer registries during 2008-2012,we calcu-lated age-standardized rate of incidence and mortality by 2000 Chinese standard population(ASRIC and ASRMC)and by 1985 Segi’s world standard population(ASRIW and ASRMW)by age,sex,and geographic regions;annual percent-age changes of OPC incidence and mortality were calculated using Joinpoint trend analysis.Results:ASRIW and ASRMW were 2.22/100,000 person-years and 0.94/100,000 person-years,respectively.The incidence and mortality in urban areas were higher than those in rural areas.ASRIC and ASRIW of males were higher than those of females.The overall ASRIC of OPC was significantly increased by 6.2%annually between 2003 and 2006(P=0.038),but remained stable between 2007 and 2012(P=0.392).ASRIC and ASRMC of males and in rural areas were significantly increased in the last decade(P<0.05),but the rates of females remained stable during the same period(P>0.05).Conclusions:Across multiple cancer registries in China,there was an obvious increase in OPC in the recent decade,especially for incidence and mortality of males and in rural areas,whereas the rates of females remained stable.A healthy lifestyle should be advocated and early diagnosis and early treatment of OPC should be enhanced.
