Polymer solid-state lithium batteries(SSLB)are regarded as a promising energy storage technology to meet growing demand due to their high energy density and safety.Ion conductivity,interface stability and battery assembly process are still the main challenges to hurdle the commercialization of SSLB.As the main component of SSLB,poly(1,3-dioxolane)(PDOL)-based solid polymer electrolytes polymerized in-situ are becoming a promising candidate solid elec-trolyte,for their high ion conductivity at room temperature,good battery elec-trochemical performances,and simple assembly process.This review analyzes opportunities and challenges of PDOL electrolytes toward practical application for polymer SSLB.The focuses include exploring the polymerization mechanism of DOL,the performance of PDOL composite electrolytes,and the application of PDOL.Furthermore,we provide a perspective on future research directions that need to be emphasized for commercialization of PDOL-based electrolytes in SSLB.The exploration of these schemes facilitates a comprehensive and profound understanding of PDOL-based polymer electrolyte and provides new research ideas to boost them toward practical application in solid-state batteries. 展开更多

Brittleness is an important parameter controlling the mechanical behavior and failure characteristics of rocks under loading and unloading conditions,such as fracability,cutability,drillability and rockburst proneness... Brittleness is an important parameter controlling the mechanical behavior and failure characteristics of rocks under loading and unloading conditions,such as fracability,cutability,drillability and rockburst proneness.As such,it is of high practical value to correctly evaluate rock brittleness.However,the definition and measurement method of rock brittleness have been very diverse and not yet been standardized.In this paper,the definitions of rock brittleness are firstly reviewed,and several representative definitions of rock brittleness are identified and briefly discussed.The development and role of rock brittleness in different fields of rock engineering are also studied.Eighty brittleness indices publicly available in rock mechanics literature are compiled,and the measurement method,applicability and limitations of some indices are discussed.The results show that(1)the large number of brittleness indices and brittleness definitions is attributed to the different foci on the rock behavior when it breaks;(2)indices developed in one field usually are not directly applicable to other fields;and(3)the term“brittleness”is sometimes misused,and many empirically-obtained brittleness indices,which lack theoretical basis,fail to truly reflect rock brittleness.On the basis of this review,three measurement methods are identified,i.e.(1)elastic deformation before fracture,(2)shape of post-peak stressestrain curves,and(3)methods based on fracture mechanics theory,which have the potential to be further refined and unified to become the standard measurement methods of rock brittleness.It is highly beneficial for the rock mechanics community to develop a robust definition of rock brittleness.This study will undoubtedly provide a comprehensive timely reference for selecting an appropriate brittleness index for their applications,and will also pave the way for the development of a standard definition and measurement method of rock brittleness in the long term. 展开更多

[Objectives]To understand the function and ritual uses of juniper wood in Tibetan communities.[Methods]Detailed surveys were carried out amongst students of the School of Nationalities at Qinghai Normal University,in order to analyze the practical application and examine the variety of viewpoints concerning functions and importance of juniper wood in Tibetan culture.[Results]193 out of 200 survey respondents completed and returned valid survey questionnaires.Among the responses,slightly more than 95%(185/193=95.8%)of the total number of informants stated that the primary function of juniper wood was its use as an incense,burned as part of religious ritual or home purification.73%(142/193=73.58%)of informants said that juniper wood also represents a kind of sacred wood or prayer-wood(tib.lab-tse).An equal number of respondents also shared about the use of juniper in the making of prayer-beads.About 62%(121/193=62.6%)responded that juniper is used to make prayer-flag poles.About 45%said that juniper wood is understood as a sacred plant and thus"marked"with sheep wool or silk,and therefore protected from other human interaction by such markings.Additionally,49%(96/193=49.7%)of the informants indicated that juniper wood is also used for medicinal incense.Finally,about 34%(67/193=34.7%)noted juniper is also used for medicinal bath.[Conclusions]The survey responses demonstrate that the function and importance of juniper wood permeate several aspects of Tibetan belief and culture. 展开更多

With the increasing market demand for high-performance lithium-ion batteries with high-capacity electrode materials,reducing the irreversible capacity loss in the initial cycle and compensating for the active lithium loss during the cycling process are critical challenges.In recent years,various prelithiation strategies have been developed to overcome these issues.Since these approaches are carried out under a wide range of conditions,it is essential to evaluate their suitability for large-scale commercial applications.In this review,these strategies are categorized based on different battery assembling stages that they are implemented in,including active material synthesis,the slurry mixing process,electrode pretreatment,and battery fabrication.Furthermore,their advantages and disadvantages in commercial production are discussed from the perspective of thermodynamics and kinetics.This review aims to provide guidance for the future development of prelithiation strategies toward commercialization,which will potentially promote the practical application of next-generation high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries. 展开更多

The past decade has witnessed a variety of members of the carbon family along with exposure of carbon dots due to their magnificent properties in sensing,bioimaging,catalytic applications,biomedical fields,and so on.Herein,we report the simple hydrothermal method to fabricate photoluminescent doped carbon quantum dots for the detection of noxious lead(II)ions.Lead(II)ion is very venomous for both the environment and human health for which its detection is demanded area in the research field.The as-prepared carbon dots show excellent photostability,low toxicity and significant photoluminescence properties along with good water solubility.Along with these properties,carbon dots have a quantum yield of approximately 15%.In the practical field of application,these carbon dots have been used as sensing probes for the detection of lead(II)ions with a detection limit of 60 nmol·L^(–1).The fluorescence intensity of carbon dots was remarkably quenched in the presence of the lead(II)ion selectively among all the tested metal ions.Furthermore,we have studied the Stern–Volmer relationship for lead(II)quenching along with the explanation of the probable quenching mechanism.Ability of the doped carbon dots in heavy metal ions sensing in an environmental sample was demonstrated. 展开更多

In the age of information explosion,big data has brought challenges but also great opportunities that support a wide range of applications for people in all walks of life.Faced with the continuous and intense competition from OTT service providers,traditional telecommunications service providers have been forced to undergo enterprise transformation.Fortunately,these providers have natural and unique advantages in terms of both data sources and data scale,all of which give them a competitive advantage.Multiple foreign mainstream telecom operators have already applied big data for their own growth,from internal business to external applications.Armed with big data,domestic telecom companies are also innovating business models.This paper will introduce three aspects of big data in the telecommunications industry.First,the unique characteristics and advantages of communications industry big data are discussed.Second,the development of the big data platform architecture is introduced in detail,which incorporates ve crucial sub-systems.We highlight the data collection and data processing systems.Finally,three internal or external application areas based on big data analysis are discussed,namely basic business,network construction,and intelligent tracing.Our work sheds light on how to deal with big data for telecommunications enterprise development. 展开更多
