Curriculum ideology and politics is an innovative concept in the implementation of the fundamental task of education-establishing moral education.Taking higher vocational schools’Architectural Drawing and Drafting as...Curriculum ideology and politics is an innovative concept in the implementation of the fundamental task of education-establishing moral education.Taking higher vocational schools’Architectural Drawing and Drafting as an example,we search for the penetration point of course knowledge and skills by exploring the teaching resources of ideology and politics with the same connotation,realize the synergy of value leading in the process of imparting knowledge and cultivating skills,help students to establish ideals and beliefs,as well as cultivate patriotism and the spirit of craftsmanship among students.Teachers are responsible for teaching and educating people.Therefore,teachers should not only impart professional knowledge,but also emphasize on the elements of ideology and politics in the teaching of professional courses from the essence of“educating people,”which focuses on the organic combination of value leadership,knowledge transmission,and skills cultivation.It is worthwhile for every teacher to reflect deeply and put it into practice.This paper studies the application of higher education curriculum ideology and politics in Architectural Drawing and Drafting,and subsequently proposes measures on how to better integrate the elements of ideology and politics into the course content,hoping to provide reference for the teaching of architecture courses.展开更多
This article investigates one of the earliest attempts to systematically construct a building tradition and incorporate it into modern Chinese architectural design.These efforts were put forth by Liang Sicheng(1901e19...This article investigates one of the earliest attempts to systematically construct a building tradition and incorporate it into modern Chinese architectural design.These efforts were put forth by Liang Sicheng(1901e1972),one of the most distinguished Chinese architects and architectural historians,in the 1920s and 1930s in China,informed by the strong collective intention to honour the Chinese past.This article provides a historical and critical reflection on this collective intention that is still shared nowadays by architects and architectural theorists.This article examines in depth the evolution of the different ways Liang used the building past and constructed the Chinese architectural traditions in different crucial stages of his architectural career in the 1920s and 1930s.It uses architectural drawing as both the research subject and the research method.Three of Liang’s representative drawings from these crucial professional stages are juxtaposed and investigated to reveal this evolution using the iconography and iconology method.展开更多

To archive this purpose, the authors have analyzed current research and technical development for STEP and XML link and developed a prototype system for sharing information between model based drawings and XML based construction documents. Finally, the authors have suggested practical use scenario of sharing information through linked STEP and XML using test case of automatic code checking. In the paper, the possibility of constructing integrated architectural computing environment through exchange and sharing of drawing information and external data for the whole building life-cycle, from the conceptual design stage to the construction and maintenance stage has been examined. Automated code checking through linked STEP and XML could be enhanced through col-laboration business, more completed code, improved building performance, and reduced construction costs.展开更多
This article investigates the responsibility of architectural drawing in developing the professional identity of modern architects in the late 1920s when Chinese architects started to emerge and assume the title of“a...This article investigates the responsibility of architectural drawing in developing the professional identity of modern architects in the late 1920s when Chinese architects started to emerge and assume the title of“architect.”Using architectural drawing as both its subject and its method,this research interrogates how a representative figure-Liu Jipiao employed the power of drawing to establish the identity of the modern Chinese architect.This paper argues that architectural drawing,in establishing the identity of the Chinese architect,faced the requirement to build an affinity between the architect and the artist.The entangled history of these two professions offers up Liu as the representative figure of the artistic architect.Liu’s artistic drawing fulfilled the previously mentioned requirement and earned the architects the artistic power that distinguished them from their counterparts-the engineers.Under the perspective of multiple modernities,the paper challenges the contemporary misreading of Liu Jipiao as an irrelevant individual intellectual and of his practice as a minor failure.Furthermore,this article invites further reflection on the modernity of Chinese architectural drawing,and shows how such drawing made more attempts to convey subjectivity rather than to transmit modern technique per se.展开更多
