The engineering example results showed that for twocore shielded cable, the coupling capacitance of trapezoid slots (asymmetric and symmetric) changed the most, followed by rectangular slots (asymmetric and symmetric), and the changes of wedge slots were the smallest, but the change tenden- cies were consistent. In addition, with the increase of slot width of different slots, the coupling capacitance of tow-cored shielded cable showed small change.展开更多

This structure can greatly reduce alignment requirement, and lighten the signal strength jitter caused by atmospheric turbulence. A prototype of the proposed structure is fabricated and a 2.5 Mbit/s on-off keying(OOK) modulated demonstration link over 40 m free space is built. This asymmetric array structure can effectively collect optical signal while rotating in a window angle of ±17°, and the bit error ratio(BER) keeps zero.展开更多

This paper considers energy-efficient relaying schemes through selection of mobile relays in cooperative cellular systems with asymmetric traffic. The total energy consumption per information bit of the battery-powered terminals,i.e.,the mobile station (MS) and the relay,is derived in theory. In the joint uplink and downlink relay selection (JUDRS) scheme we proposed, the relay which minimizes the total energy consumption is selected. Additionally, the energy-efficient cooperation regions are investigated, and the optimal relay location is found for cooperative cellular systems with asymmetric traffic. The results reveal that the MS-relay and the relay-base station (BS) channels have different influence over relay selection decisions for optimal energy-efficiency. Information theoretic analysis of the diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) demonstrates that the proposed scheme achieves full spatial diversity in the quantity of cooperating terminals in this network. Finally, numerical results further confirm a significant energy efficiency gain of the proposed algorithm comparing to the previous best worse channel selection and best harmonic mean selection algorithms.展开更多

One of the characteristics in future mobile systems is asymmetric characteristic caused by service requirement and electromagnetic radiation, AFDD is designed to adapt to the new asymmetric characteristics. The AFDD puts forward a novel adaptive frequency-allocation scheme in downlink and uplink. Combining AFDD with code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system, it is proven that AFDD improves the capacity and coverage of the system compare with FDD CDMA system.展开更多

Key techniques in AON include optical switching/routing, optical cross connection (OXC), all optical wavelength conversion (AOWC), all optical buffering, etc. Opti- cal switching/routing is in fact wavelength switching/ routing. OXC and wavelength conversion (WC) are introduced into cross nodes so that a virtual wavelength path is established. With WC, communication route is formed only if there is unused wavelength in an individual segment link. The rate wavelength usage is thus greatly increased. The blocking rate of network can be reduced by adding WCs, especially for huge capacity multiple nodes ones. Therefore, WC has attracted much attention in basic research of optical communication and is used in some experimental networks. This dissertation studies all optic wavelength conversion and its application, with the contributions in the following five aspects.展开更多
