Distance Control Algorithm for Automobile Automatic Obstacle Avoidance and Cruise System

With the improvement of automobile ownership in recent years,the incidence of traffic accidents constantly increases and requirements on the security of automobiles become increasingly higher.As science and technology develops constantly,the development of automobile automatic obstacle avoidance and cruise system accelerates gradually,and the requirement on distance control becomes stricter.Automobile automatic obstacle avoidance and cruise system can determine the conditions of automobiles and roads using sensing technology,automatically adopt measures to control automobile after discovering road safety hazards,thus to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents.To prevent accidental collision of automobile which are installed with automatic obstacle avoidance and cruise system,active brake should be controlled during driving.This study put forward a neural network based proportional-integral-derivative(PID)control algorithm.The active brake of automobiles was effectively controlled using the system to keep the distance between automobiles.Moreover the algorithm was tested using professional automobile simulation platform.The results demonstrated that neural network based PID control algorithm can precisely and efficiently control the distance between two cars.This work provides a reference for the development of automobile automatic obstacle avoidance and cruise system. 展开更多

This research article proposes the position control of (DC) motor. The proposed algorithm of this article lies in the application of a genetic algorithm interval type-2 fuzzy logic controller (GAIT2FLC) in the design of fuzzy controller for the position control of DC Motor. The entire system has been modeled using MATLAB R11a. The performance of the proposed GAIT2FLC is compared with that of its corresponding conventional genetic algorithm type-1 FLC in terms of several performance measures such as rise time, peak overshoot, settling time, integral absolute error (IAE) and integral of time multiplied absolute error (ITAE) and in each case, the proposed scheme shows improved performance over its conventional counterpart. Extensive simulation studies are conducted to compare the response of the given system with the conventional genetic algorithm type-1 fuzzy controller to the response given with the proposed GAIT2FLC scheme. 展开更多

This paper presents an analysis of the KM (Karnik-Mendel) algorithms performance under real time implementation using 3 types: the non-iterative, the iterative and the enhanced, and their feasibility for real-time interval type 2 fuzzy logic control system applications. The results are also compared against NT (Nie-Tan) method that is one of the fastest and simplest defuzzification methods. Because the DC (direct current) servo-motor is one of the most used motors in different industrial applications and the model of the motor is nonlinear, this motor was selected for validating the implementation in real time hardware. This DC motor is a perfect option for studying the real time performance of KM algorithms in order to show up its limits and possibilities for real-time control system applications. These methodologies are implemented in National Instruments LabVIEW FPGA (field programmable gate array) module hardware which is one of the most used platforms in the industry. The results show that the E-KM (enhanced KM) algorithm and the NT method present good results for implementing real-time control applications in real time hardware. Although fuzzy logic type 2 is a good option for working with nonlinear and noise from the sensors, the defuzzification method has to react in a short period of time in order to allow good control response. Hence, a complete study of defuzzification is needed for improving the real time implementations of fuzzy type 2. 展开更多

Its objective consists of combining three different heuristic optimization techniques including PID-PSO, Fuzzy-PSO and GA-PSO to improve the DSIM speed controlled loop behavior. The GA and PSO algorithms are developed and implemented into MATLAB. As a result, fuzzy-PSO is the most appropriate scheme. The main performance of fuzzy-PSO is reducing high torque ripples, improving rise time and avoiding disturbances that affect the drive performance. 展开更多

To develop efficient power control strategies for a distributed generation system in order to improve the overall system efficiency, we propose a cooperative algorithm to analyze and design the controller, in which elements of conventional mathematical optimization algorithms are combined with adaptive dynamic elements drawn from intelligent control theory. In our design, the sequential quadratic programming algorithm was first utilized to obtain an optimal solution for power distribution among multiple units. Fuzzy system was then developed to implement the optimal strategies on the basis of optimal solution. In addition, parameters of the fuzzy system were adapted via a genetic algorithm. Tbe simulation results illustrate that the methodology described is useful for a range of control system designs. 展开更多

The generation of electricity,considering environmental and eco-nomic factors is one of the most important challenges of recent years.In this article,a thermoelectric generator(TEG)is proposed to use the thermal energy of an electric water heater(EWH)to generate electricity independently.To improve the energy conversion efficiency of the TEG,a fuzzy logic con-troller(FLC)-based perturb&observe(P&O)type maximum power point tracking(MPPT)control algorithm is used in this study.An EWH is one of the major electricity consuming household appliances which causes a higher electricity price for consumers.Also,a significant amount of thermal energy generated by EWH is wasted every day,especially during the winter season.In recent years,TEGs have been widely developed to convert surplus or unused thermal energy into usable electricity.In this context,the proposed model is designed to use the thermal energy stored in the EWH to generate electricity.In addition,the generated electricity can be easily stored in a battery storage system to supply electricity to various household appliances with low-power-consumption.The proposed MPPT control algorithm helps the system to quickly reach the optimal point corresponding to the maximum power output and maintains the system operating point at the maximum power output level.To validate the usefulness of the proposed scheme,a study model was developed in the MATLAB Simulink environment and its performance was investigated by simulation under steady state and transient conditions.The results of the study confirmed that the system is capable of generating adequate power from the available thermal energy of EWH.It was also found that the output power and efficiency of the system can be improved by maintaining a higher temperature difference at the input terminals of the TEG.Moreover,the real-time temperature data of Abha city in Saudi Arabia is considered to analyze the feasibility of the proposed system for practical implementation. 展开更多

A major issue in radar quantitative precipitation estimation is the contamination of radar echoes by non-meteorological targets such as ground clutter,chaff,clear air echoes etc.In this study,a fuzzy logic algorithm for the identification of non-meteorological echoes is developed using optimized membership functions and weights for the dual-polarization radar located at Mount Sobaek.For selected precipitation and non-meteorological events,the characteristics of the precipitation and non-meteorological echo are derived by the probability density functions of five fuzzy parameters as functions of reflectivity values.The membership functions and weights are then determined by these density functions.Finally,the nonmeteorological echoes are identified by combining the membership functions and weights.The performance is qualitatively evaluated by long-term rain accumulation.The detection accuracy of the fuzzy logic algorithm is calculated using the probability of detection(POD),false alarm rate(FAR),and clutter–signal ratio(CSR).In addition,the issues in using filtered dual-polarization data are alleviated. 展开更多

This paper presents a new application of a genetic-fuzzy control system which controls the input energy to a three phase electric arc furnace. Graphite electrodes are used to convert electrical energy into heat via phase electric arcs. Con-stant arc length is desirable as it implies steady energy transfer from the graphite electrodes to the metallic charge in the furnace bath. With the charge level constantly changing, the electrodes must be able to adjust for the arc length to remain constant. A fuzzy PI controller tuned with genetic algorithms has been developed to be responsible for the ver-tical adjustment of the electrode tip displacement according to specified set-points to ensure that the arc lengths remain as constant as possible. The simulation results show that the system performances are satisfactory using the proposed method. 展开更多

An adaptive fuzzy logic controller (AFC) is presented for the signal control of the urban traffic network. The AFC is composed of the signal control system-oriented control level and the signal controller-oriented fuzzy rules regulation level. The control level decides the signal timings in an intersection with a fuzzy logic controller. The regulation level optimizes the fuzzy rules by the Adaptive Rule Module in AFC according to both the system performance index in current control period and the traffic flows in the last one. Consequently the system performances are improved. A weight coefficient controller (WCC) is also developed to describe the interactions of traffic flow among the adjacent intersections. So the AFC combined with the WCC can be applied in a road network for signal timings. Simulations of the AFC on a real traffic scenario have been conducted. Simulation results indicate that the adaptive controller for traffic control shows better performance than the actuated one. 展开更多

Six driving cycles were selected to represent different traffic conditions e.g. freeway, urban, suburb. A neural algorithm was used for traffic condition recognition based on ten parameters of each driving cycle. The DCR was utilized for optimization of the HEV control parameters using a genetic-fuzzy approach. A fuzzy logic controller (FLC) was designed to be intelligent to manage the engine to work in the vicinity of its optimal condition. The fuzzy membership function parameters were optimized using the genetic algorithm (GA) for each driving cycle. The result is that the DCR_ fuzzy controller can reduce the fuel consumption by 1. 9%, higher than only CYC _ HWFET optimized fuzzy (0.2%) or CYC _ WVUSUB optimized fuzzy (0.7%). The DCR_ fuzzy method can get the better result than only optimizing one cycle on the complex real traffic conditions. 展开更多

In this paper, a traffic signal control method based on fuzzy logic (FL), fuzzy-neuro (FN) and multi-objective genetic algorithms (MOGA) for an isolated four-approach intersection with through and left-turning movements is presented. This method has an adaptive signal timing ability, and can make adjustments to signal timing in response to observed changes.The 'urgency degree' term, which can describe the different user's demand for green time is used in decision-making by which strategy of signal timing can be determined. Using a fuzzy logic controller, we can determine whether to extend or terminate the current signal phase and select the sequences of phases. In this paper, a method based on fuzzy-neuro can be used to predict traffic parameters used in fuzzy logic controller. The feasibility of using a multi-objective genetic algorithm ( MOGA) to find a group of optimizing sets of parameters for fuzzy logic controller depending on different objects is also demonstrated. Simulation results show that the proposed methed is effecfive to adjust the signal timing in response to changing traffic conditions on a real-time basis, and the controller can produce lower vehicle delays and percentage of stopped vehicles than a traffic-actuated controller. 展开更多

This paper presents a closed-loop vector control structure based on adaptive Fuzzy Logic Sliding Mode Controller (FL-SMC) for a grid-connected Wave Energy Conversion System (WECS) driven Self-Excited Induction Generator (SEIG). The aim of the developed control method is to automatically tune and optimize the scaling factors and the membership functions of the Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLC) using Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithms (MOGA) and Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO). Two Pulse Width Modulated voltage source PWM converters with a carrier-based Sinusoidal PWM modulation for both Generator- and Grid-side converters have been connected back to back between the generator terminals and utility grid via common DC link. The indirect vector control scheme is implemented to maintain balance between generated power and power supplied to the grid and maintain the terminal voltage of the generator and the DC bus voltage constant for variable rotor speed and load. Simulation study has been carried out using the MATLAB/Simulink environment to verify the robustness of the power electronics converters and the effectiveness of proposed control method under steady state and transient conditions and also machine parameters mismatches. The proposed control scheme has improved the voltage regulation and the transient performance of the wave energy scheme over a wide range of operating conditions. 展开更多

Considering that the performance of a genetic algorithm (GA) is affected by many factors and their rela-tionships are complex and hard to be described,a novel fuzzy-based adaptive genetic algorithm (FAGA) combined a new artificial immune system with fuzzy system theory is proposed due to the fact fuzzy theory can describe high complex problems.In FAGA,immune theory is used to improve the performance of selection operation.And,crossover probability and mutation probability are adjusted dynamically by fuzzy inferences,which are developed according to the heuristic fuzzy relationship between algorithm performances and control parameters.The experi-ments show that FAGA can efficiently overcome shortcomings of GA,i.e.,premature and slow,and obtain better results than two typical fuzzy GAs.Finally,FAGA was used for the parameters estimation of reaction kinetics model and the satisfactory result was obtained. 展开更多

In supply chain management (SCM) environment, we consider a resource-constrained project scheduling problem (rcPSP) model as one of advanced scheduling problems considered by a constraint programming technique. We develop a hybrid genetic algorithm (hGA) with a fuzzy logic controller (FLC) to solve the rcPSP which is the well known NP-hard problem. This new approach is based on the design of genetic operators with FLC through initializing the serial method which is superior for a large rcPSP scale. For solving these rcPSP problems, we first demonstrate that our hGA with FLC (flc-hGA) yields better results than several heuristic procedures presented in the literature. We have revealed a fact that flc-hGA has the evolutionary behaviors of average fitness better than hGA without FLC. 展开更多

Purpose–The purpose of this paper is to present a control strategy which uses two independent PID controllers to realize the hovering control for unmanned aerial systems(UASs).In addition,the aim of using two PID controller is to achieve the position control and velocity control simultaneously.Design/methodology/approach–The dynamic of the UASs is mathematically modeled.One PID controller is used for position tracking control,while the other is selected for the vertical component of velocity tracking control.Meanwhile,fuzzy logic algorithm is presented to use the actual horizontal component of velocity to compute the desired position.Findings–Based on this fuzzy logic algorithm,the control error of the horizontal component of velocity tracking control is narrowed gradually to be zero.The results show that the fuzzy logic algorithm can make the UASs hover still in the air and vertical to the ground.Social implications–The acquired results are based on simulation not experiment.Originality/value–This is the first study to use two independent PID controllers to realize stable hovering control for UAS.It is also the first to use the velocity of the UAS to calculate the desired position. 展开更多

Purpose-In recent times,fuzzy logic is gaining more and more attention,and this is because of the capability of understanding the functioning of the system as per human knowledge-based system.The main contribution of the work is dynamically adapting the important parameters throughout the execution of the flower pollination algorithm(FPA)using concepts of fuzzy logic.By adapting the main parameters of the metaheuristics,the performance and accuracy of the metaheuristic have been improving in a varied range of applications.Design/methodology/approach-The fuzzy logic-based parameter adaptation in the FPA is proposed.In addition,type2 fuzzy logic is used to design fuzzy inference system for dynamic parameter adaptation in metaheuristics,which can help in eliminating uncertainty and hence offers an attractive improvement in dynamic parameter adaption in metaheuristic method,and,in reality,the effectiveness of the interval type2 fuzzy inference system(IT2 FIS)has shown to provide improved results as matched to type-1 fuzzy inference system(T1 FIS)in some latest work.Findings-One case study is considered for testing the proposed approach in a fault tolerant control problem without faults and with partial loss of effectiveness of main actuator fault with abrupt and incipient nature.For comparison between the type-1 fuzzy FPA and interval type-2 fuzzy FPA is presented using statitical analysis which validates the advantages of the interval type2 fuzzy FPA.The statistical Z-test is presented for comparison of efficiency between two fuzzy variants of the FPA optimization method.Originality/value-The main contribution of the work is a dynamical adaptation of the important parameters throughout the execution of the flower pollination optimization algorithm using concepts of type2 fuzzy logic.By adapting the main parameters of the metaheuristics,the performance and accuracy of the metaheuristic have been improving in a varied range of applications. 展开更多

Novel neuro-fuzzy techniques are used to dynamically control parameter settings ofgenetic algorithms (GAs).The benchmark routine is an adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) that uses afuzzy knowledge-based system to control GA parameters.The self-learning ability of the cerebellar modelariculation controller (CMAC) neural network makes it possible for on-line learning the knowledge onGAs throughout the run.Automatically designing and tuning the fuzzy knowledge-base system,neuro-fuzzy techniques based on CMAC can find the optimized fuzzy system for AGA by the renhanced learningmethod.The Results from initial experiments show a Dynamic Parametric AGA system designed by theproposed automatic method and indicate the general applicability of the neuro-fuzzy AGA to a widerange of combinatorial optimization. 展开更多

针对电动汽车和混合动力电动汽车的动力配置,提出了一种应用于模块化全轮驱动汽车的优化模糊逻辑控制(FLC)策略。在车辆的动力学模型中,应用魔术公式来定义与弯道或行驶/中断情况下的载荷传递的轮胎打滑。通过控制器来调整轮内电机扭矩... 针对电动汽车和混合动力电动汽车的动力配置,提出了一种应用于模块化全轮驱动汽车的优化模糊逻辑控制(FLC)策略。在车辆的动力学模型中,应用魔术公式来定义与弯道或行驶/中断情况下的载荷传递的轮胎打滑。通过控制器来调整轮内电机扭矩,以实现车辆的轨迹纠偏。提出了遗传算法的多目标优化方法,研究了车辆的质量、重心位置、轮距和轴距等因素对车辆鲁棒性的控制影响,并与传统的PID控制方法进行了对比,表明所提的FLC能够有效控制车辆的轨迹。最后通过半实物实验,验证了所提FLC控制策略的有效性。 展开更多
