To find out the current status of using medical facilities by retirees, this study surveyed retirees in their fifties, sixties, and seventies, who live in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. The survey data was sorted by the types of medical facilities they visit, reasons for their visit, and the types of medical facilities in a retirement residential area they would prefer to visit. The pros and cons of using private and general hospitals can be evaluated further to set up the right strategy to reconcile them;and each type of hospital can be improved by adding those missing elements that the interviewees mentioned. In the broad perspective, this indicates the need to suggest the direction of preparing residential areas that are technically planned for retirees on the basis of the analysis of Korean retirees’ needs.展开更多

The building was purchased in 1827 by Vincenzo Valentini, a banker and consul general of the Prussian Crown. In 1939, with the outbreak of World War II, a fully self-contained, air-raid shelter was built under the courtyard, with an exit tunnel heading onto the Trajan's Forum. Archaeological investigations started in 2005 in view of a simple rehabilitation work of the underground level. As work progressed, the sample-plots brought to light new archaeological findings: relics of a huge temple and what remained of two residential houses with thermal baths. We therefore designed an exhibition space with glass surfaces to allow visitors to appreciate the findings while following a path through historical ages: from the 16th-century courtyard to the underground Roman domus (the sumptuous houses of senators and dignitaries of the Roman Empire), with private baths, to the remains of a Roman temple, and all the way to the Trajan's Column pedesta( by way of the air-raid shelter. Virtual reconstructions, graphic effects, and movies are the means used to revive the hypothetical origina( appearance of the environments and the daily life of that epoch in order to help us build a prototype of an on-site museum of the third millennium.展开更多

The color sensor consists of an array of two photodiodes with different spectral responses, fabricated using controlled electric peeling-off and doping-free techniques on a single semiconducting double-wall CNT. The CNT photodiodes exhibit intrinsic broad spectral responses from 640 to 2,100 nm, large linear dynamic ranges of over 60 dB, and sub-micron pixel size. This method explores the unique properties of multi-wall CNTs, and may be readily used for large-scale fabrication of high performance color sensor arrays, when arrays of parallel multi-wall CNTs become available.展开更多
