In the eyes of the Chinese people, the Belt and Road Initiative is an international strategy rather than a regional strategy, the goals of which are to coordinate an all-around opening of China to the world and promote further integration of the country into the global economy. So the strategy is talked in almost every field in China. However, Outside of China, the discussion about the Belt and Road initiative does not always provide encouragement and support and typically there are more disputes than agreements. Implementation of Belt and Road is going to reconstruct regional interests and balance powers throughout the world. There are many difficulties in achieving the goal, so China has to realize the true situation in neighboring countries and provide more chances for Non-Governmental Organizations as well as illustrating to the world how China will do in the future.展开更多

The report of 19 th CPC National Congress indicates that China is committed to proactive mitigation under the Paris Agreement and further participating in global environmental governance under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and both of which are largely integrated to the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI). BRI are also closely linked with South-South environmental and climate cooperation proposed by China from previous UN summits. Based on shared ideas, intersected agendas, and compatible governance approaches, BRI and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development grow increasingly relevant and they might form synergies based on increasingly interactive relations. In sum,seeking and intensifying the linkages between BRI and 2030 sustainable development goals(SDGs) could address global environmental governance deficits and enhance cooperation among nations.展开更多

The economic development of Arab states faces long-time impediments,including the paradox between security and development,de-industrialisation,and market fragmentation.Reflecting on the above-mentioned problems,the A...The economic development of Arab states faces long-time impediments,including the paradox between security and development,de-industrialisation,and market fragmentation.Reflecting on the above-mentioned problems,the Arab states have put forward development strategies for themselves in the first two decades of the 21st century.There are different focuses in the three categories of these strategies,namely labour-intensive industrialisation and urbanisation plans adopted typically by Egypt,Morocco,and Tunisia,economic diversification plans adopted mainly by the Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC)countries,as well as post-conflict reconstruction and development plans of Iraq and Syria.This paper argues that,in terms of trade and investment,capacity relocation and technology transfer,as well as infrastructure construction and market integration,these development plans have considerable potential to be strategically synergized with China’s Belt and Road Initiative,and the various featured paths of synergy of development strategies(SDS)have emerged accordingly.To better implement the Sino-Arab SDS,both sides have created various major“interfaces,”including multilateral and bilateral governmental dialogue mechanisms,the participation of China’s state-owned enterprises in the landmark projects of Arab states,and the market-oriented cooperation between their private sectors.展开更多
Echinococcosis is a neglected zoonotic disease,causing great morbidity and mortality due to the wide distribution of its endemic areas.China holds a high percentage in the global burden of both cystic and alveolar ech...Echinococcosis is a neglected zoonotic disease,causing great morbidity and mortality due to the wide distribution of its endemic areas.China holds a high percentage in the global burden of both cystic and alveolar echinococcosis.A national survey conducted between 2012 and 2016 showed that an estimated 50 million people are at risk of contracting the disease in western China,of whom about 0.17 million are cases with echinococcosis.Despite this,research and development on echinococcosis in China is greatly inadequate compared to that in other countries.In this paper,we argue that there is a need for more research and work to be conducted in China on echinococcosis,including researching techniques in regards to diagnosis,treatment,and vaccination,and developing products through technical transformation and piloting strategies to control and even elimination.However,great opportunities exist for China to strengthen the research and development on this disease through initiatives such as Health China 2030,the Belt and Road Initiative,the China-Africa cooperation,as well as through further cooperation between China and the World Health Organization.All of these can bring us closer to controlling echinococcosis in China as well as in other countries.One element of crucial importance will be the training and development of professionals,which can be strengthened through international cooperation.展开更多
