The cyclic deformation of the material presents remarkable time-dependence and history memory phenomena. The fractional(fractional-order)derivative is an efficient tool for modeling these phenomena. Therefore, we develop a cyclic fractional-order unified visco-plastic(FVP) constitutive model. Specifically, within the framework of the cyclic elasto-plastic theory, the fractional derivative is used to describe the accumulated plastic strain rate and nonlinear kinematic hardening rule based on the Ohno-Abdel-Karim model. Moreover, a new radial return method for the back stress is developed to describe the unclosed hysteresis loops of the stress-strain properly. The capacity of the FVP model used to predict the cyclic deformation of the SS304 stainless steel is verified through a comparison with the corresponding experimental data found in the literature(KANG, G. Z., KAN, Q. H., ZHANG, J., and SUN, Y. F. Timedependent ratcheting experiments of SS304 stainless steel. International Journal of Plasticity, 22(5), 858–894(2006)). The FVP model is shown to be successful in predicting the rate-dependent ratcheting behaviors of the SS304 stainless steel.展开更多

In addition, the developed constitutive model was implemented into finite element codes in Abaqus to simulate the tensile deformation. The standard uniaxial tensile tests were carried out. The stress-strain curves from the uniaxial tensile tests show that the stress keeps decreasing after yielding and the yield stress rises with the increasing of the strain rate. It is worth noting that the craze damage is more visible with higher strain rate. The stress-whitening can be seen clearly around the fracture. The uniaxial tensile tests using specially designed specimen with circular holes weakening were performed for the validation of the developed model. The simulation results of the tensile deformation of the hole-weakened specimen suggest that the stress-whitening could be attributed to the equivalent visco-plastic strain. By comparing between the simulation analysis and the experimental results, the proposed model can describe the stress whitening phenomenon with good accuracy.展开更多

The strain energy density of PRC is analyzed based on the cell model, and the analytical formula for the macro-constitutive relation of PRC is obtained. The strength effects of volume fraction of the particle and the strain hardening exponent of matrix material on the macro-constitutive relation are investigated, the relation curve of strain versus stress of PRC is calculated in detail. The present results are consistent with the results given in the existing references.展开更多

In this model total strain of soft clay is assumed to be divided into three parts: instantaneous elastic, visco-elastic and visco-plastic. The characteristics of instantaneous and visco-elastic deformation of soft clay are simulated by Merchant's model, the plastic is by a model with two yield surfaces. And related constitutive equation is conducted. A number of stress-controlled triaxial tests are performed to calculated the model parameters. The visco-elasto-plastic model is used for analysis of the displacement of an embankment on soft ground by use of three-dimensional finite element method. The predicted settlements agree well with the measured data. It is indicated that the viscous characteristics should be taken into account in deformation analysis for soft clay.展开更多

Considering the high temperature gradient, the existing of liquid and solid regions and rolling deformation, suitable constitutive model is the key to describe the process. Anand's model is a temperature-dependent, rate-dependent and unified of creep and plasticity model and the Jaumann derivative was employed in Anand's model which makes the constitutive model frame-indifferent or objective, therefore the highly nonlinearities behavior in the twin-roll casting process can be simulated. The parameters of the Anand's model were regressed based on the compression tests of AZ31 magnesium alloy. The simulation results reveal that the Anand's model can well describe the deformation characteristics of twin-roll casting process. Based on the simulation results, the form of evolution equations in Anand's model was discussed.展开更多

On the basis of former study and the convention triaxial pressure test results ,the complete procedures curves which described the relationships between yielding strength、 peak strength、 residual strength and confining pressure was obtained. Taking the strain softening of rock into account, the bilinear elastic-linear softening-residual perfect plasticity four-linear model was put forward in this paper on the basis of the test results and theory of plasticity. This model was adopted to describe the behaviors of marble in different phases under triaxial compression with the constitutive equation of strain softening phase as focus. The results indicated that the theoretic model fitted in well with the test results.展开更多

To study these important features, a visco-elasticplastic constitutive relationship with consideration of the coupling of seepage and soil deformation is proposed, and a finite element model with variable coefficients based on the Biot's consolidation theory is built. With the groundwater exploitation and the land subsidence control in Cangzhou City, Hebei Province as an example, the variations of the under groundwater level and the deve- lopment of the land subsidence due to the groundwater exploitation are simulated and ground fissures are predicted by the horizontal displacement calculation. The results show that the lag time between the land subsidence and the under groundwater level descent is about a month, and the simulated results of fissures agree well with the observed data. The model can well reveal the characterization of the interaction between the land subsidence and the groundwater exploitation.展开更多
