A new filamentous cyanobacterial strain(CHAB 4127)was successfully isolated from the algal mat during the field investigation of the open channel from Luanhe River to Tianjin,China.The polyphasic approach combining mo...A new filamentous cyanobacterial strain(CHAB 4127)was successfully isolated from the algal mat during the field investigation of the open channel from Luanhe River to Tianjin,China.The polyphasic approach combining morphological,ultrastructural,ecological,and molecular features was used to characterize this studied strain.The strain is morphologically similar to the Microcoleus-like cyanobacterial taxa under light microscopy,and the radial arrangement of thylakoids is also consistent with that of Microcoleus-like groups.The phylogenetic position of CHAB 4127 based on 16S rRNA gene sequences,is shown to be clearly clustered into an independent clade with the newly established genus Microcoleusiopsis.The maximum similarity of 16S r RNA gene of the studied strain with other existing related cyanobacterial taxa is 93.97%,and the ITS secondary structures is also obviously different from other members of Microcoleaceae.Based on all the above evidence,we proposed the establishment of this novel cyanobacterial genus as Neomicrocoleus,with its type species,Neomicrocoleus tianjinensis.展开更多
Bloom’s taxonomy is widely used in educational research to categorize the cognitive skills required to answer exam questions.For this study,we analyzed how students categorize exam questions(high-level question or lo...Bloom’s taxonomy is widely used in educational research to categorize the cognitive skills required to answer exam questions.For this study,we analyzed how students categorize exam questions(high-level question or low-level question,)gathered data as to their rationale for categorization,and compared their categorizations to those of experts.We found that students consistently rank high-level questions incorrectly.We analyzed student reasons for their categorizations,and found that for many of the incorrectly categorized questions the students referred to reasons related to Cognitive Load Theory.This shows that cognitive load prevents students from accurately assessing the cognitive level of an exam question.Thus,extra cognitive load in exam questions may prevent those questions from accurately measuring the skills and knowledge of the student.This points to the need for instructors to eliminate cognitive load from their exams.展开更多
Assessment using Bloom’s taxonomy levels has evolved in a variety of contexts and uses.In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic,which necessitates use of online assessment,the need for teachers to use digital-based taxono...Assessment using Bloom’s taxonomy levels has evolved in a variety of contexts and uses.In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic,which necessitates use of online assessment,the need for teachers to use digital-based taxonomy skills or Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy(BDT)has increased even more.However,the existing studies on validity and reliability of BDT items are limited.To overcome this limitation,this study aims to test whether BDT has good psychometric characteristics as a teacher’s self-assessment tool using the Rasch model analysis and to investigate the pattern of BDT usage in teaching and learning.By using a quantitative online survey design,this study involves six levels of BDT,namely,Remembering,Understanding,Applying,Analyzing,Evaluating,and Creating.The questionnaire was developed and validated by two experts prior to administration.A stratified random sampling technique was conducted on 774 secondary teachers from five geographical zones in Malaysia,and the Rasch model was analyzed using WINSTEPS 3.71 software.The performances of items improved by Rasch psychometric assessment including the application of BDT among teachers.The hierarchy level was also assessed through graphical analysis,including the Wright map and bubble chart,to demonstrate the powerful performance of the Rasch model analysis in investigating item quality and reliability.Overall,these empirically validated items using the Rasch model could advance the academic knowledge of BDT for future assessment and promote the Rasch calibration in an educational setting.展开更多

In contrast, the Health at Every Size (HAES) paradigm fosters improved health behaviors for peo...The majority of recent studies on prevention and control of childhood obesity focus on methods for achieving weight loss. In contrast, the Health at Every Size (HAES) paradigm fosters improved health behaviors for people of all sizes by emphasizing natural diversity of body type and attention to social, emotional, and spiritual factors in addition to physical ones. This study examined introduction of the HAES paradigm to student teachers using different communication models while moving across the learning domains of Bloom’s Taxonomy. The qualitative research tested a face-to-face verbal communication model and a Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) module and its blog. It was also based upon reflection diaries recorded by participants using both models. Participants included Druze, Jewish, and Bedouin students at a teacher training program in northern Israel. The student teachers succeeded in developing the HAES concepts further while demonstrating the higher domain levels across Bloom’s Taxonomy. These higher levels emerged when engaging with theoretical concepts and practical dilemmas relating to the HAES concepts of health promotion, body image, well-being, and self-worth. Challenging the appreciation of HAES using different communication models can be translated into diverse contexts of Health Education Practices.展开更多

The basic educational model proposed here is my seven-step process model of rehabilitation practice. Knowledge consists of four aspects: 1) clinical, 2) psychological, 3) environmental, and 4) disability;skills consist of two steps: 5) identifying intervention points and 6) setting feasible goals;and attitudes 7) of communicating and sharing policies and paths with patients, families, and other professionals. This constitutes the process of rehabilitation practice, and a framework that integrates the three elements is developed here. This study focuses on integrating knowledge, skills, and attitudes into what Bloom described as “the integration of instruction and assessment” so that learners and instructors can reconcile them. Therefore, a typology that explains each other for advancing and deepening individual skills is adopted. The Golden Bug-Eyed Frog, Theloderma auratum sp. nov., is distinguishable from its congeners and other small rhacophorid species based on a combination of the following morphological attributes: (1) bony ridges on head absent; (2) smooth skin completely lacking calcified warts or asperities; (3) pointed elongated tapering snout; (4) vocal opening in males absent; (5) vomerine teeth absent; (6) males of small body size (SVL 21.8-26.4 mm); (7) head longer than wide; ED/SVL ratio 13%-15%; ESL/SVL ratio 16%-20%; (8) small tympanum (TD/EL ratio 50%-60%) with few tiny tubercles; (9) supratympanic fold absent; (10) ventral surfaces completely smooth; (11 ) webbing between fingers absent; (12) outer and inner metacarpal tubercles present, supernumerary metacarpal tubercle single, medial, oval in shape; (13) toes half-webbed: I 2-21/4 II 11/^-23/~ III 2-31/4 IV 3-11/2 V; (14) inner metatarsal tubercle present, oval; outer metatarsal tubercle absent; (15) iris bicolored; (16) dorsal surfaces golden-yellow with sparse golden-orange speckling or reticulations and few small dark-brown spots; (17) lateral sides of head and body with wide dark reddish-brown to black lateral stripes, clearlyseparated from lighter dorsal coloration by straight contrasting edge; (18) ventral surfaces of body, throat, and chest greyish-blue with indistinct brown confluent blotches; (19) upper eyelids with few (3-5) very small flat reddish superciliary tubercles; (20) limbs dorsally reddish-brown, ventrally brown with small bluish-white speckles. Advertisement call and tadpole morphology of the new species are described. Several insect pests affect its production, and thrips are amongst the most important. A key step in the design of control methods is accurate species identification. Despite this, formal reports on species diversity of thrips in Mexico are very scarce. Morphological identification can sometimes be time-consuming and inconclusive. Therefore, we explored the species diversity of thrips in Mexican avocado orchards (Michoacan state) based on partial sequences of the mitochondrial gene cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COl). Forty-four specimens were analysed, which represented approximately 8% of all individuals collected from five localities distributed in three Municipalities. All specimens were analysed using the COl marker, and specimens within the genera Frankliniella were also analysed using a marker within the D2 domain of the 28S (28SD2) nuclear ribosomal DNA. Molecular identifications were confirmed using morphological taxonomy. Overall, six genera were found (Neohydatothrips, Scirtothrips, Frankliniella, Arorathrips, Caliothrips and Leptothrips). AII genera contained only one species, except Frankliniella, for which there were six species. Data from the two molecular markers suggest the existence of cryptic species within Mexican F. occidentalis populations.展开更多

This study w...This study aimed to perform the taxonomic survey of the species of periphytic Cyanobacteria in a lentic tropical environment, seeking to contribute to the knowledge on biodiversity and their distribution. This study was conducted at the Samambaia Reservoir, which is located at Federal University of Goiás, Goiania, Central West region of Brazil. In general, the water of the Samambaia Reservoir is characterized as more turbid and the increased biochemical oxygen demand as well as a higher concentration of coliforms in the rainy season. Twenty six samples were collected, ten in the dry season (09/2010 and 11/2010;07/2012) and ten in the rainy season (01/2011 and 03/2011;01/2013). Periphyton was collected from stems of aquatic plants (Cyperaceae), which were in the marginal area of the reservoir. With the floristic survey, 38 taxa of Cyanobacteria were identified in periphyton of the Samambaia Reservoir. Phormidium (family Phormidiaceae) and Aphanocapsa (Merismopediaceae) are among genera with the highest species richness. Regarding morphological types, many species of filamentous cyanobacteria were identified, followed by colonial taxa. In relation to the frequency of occurrence and the seasonal period, 14 taxa were classified in the rare category, 12 in common category and 12 in constant category. Regarding the seasonal period, Cyanophyceae were the greatest wealth in the rainy season (97.4%).展开更多

The first step is to carry out the quantity and quality analysis of the test items by using the Bloom's revised taxonomy and scale anchoring respectively to produce the characteristics for test items. A smoothing method of arbitrary anchoring revised from scale anchoring is first proposed to make tests more accurate in distinguishing test levels. In addition, raised three dimensional indicators based on the Bloom's revised taxonomy are adopted to validate test contents and therefore it concretely describes the examining function of items. The items obtained have the precise and concrete properties; an item knowledge library is therefore constructed combining teaching materials and items using the technologies of ontology and knowledge management. Finally, a knowledge library system of test items is established to achieve the purpose of adaptive learning for learners.展开更多

This study shows how Bloom’s taxonomy can be utilized to develop a clear methodology for creating a test direction when compiling reports and in conducting an experimental assessment of students’ performance.

文摘Online English learning as an outcome of the rapid development of the Internet has got a wider and wider market in China. However, problems of varieties have also occurred along its way. People never stop thinking of better strategies either in designing online course wares or tutorials to help smooth the learning process. My experience as a tutor is that interaction of affective domain and higher levels of cognitive domain of Bloom's Taxonomy plays an important role in face-to-face tutorials of online English learning.
文摘This study aimed to develop an educational model that integrates three elements: knowledge, skills, and attitudes—developing the educational model proposed in the previous Paper I—and to widely investigate and characterize previous learning-related models. The basic educational model proposed here is my seven-step process model of rehabilitation practice. Knowledge consists of four aspects: 1) clinical, 2) psychological, 3) environmental, and 4) disability;skills consist of two steps: 5) identifying intervention points and 6) setting feasible goals;and attitudes 7) of communicating and sharing policies and paths with patients, families, and other professionals. This constitutes the process of rehabilitation practice, and a framework that integrates the three elements is developed here. This study focuses on integrating knowledge, skills, and attitudes into what Bloom described as “the integration of instruction and assessment” so that learners and instructors can reconcile them. Therefore, a typology that explains each other for advancing and deepening individual skills is adopted. In Bloom’s original taxonomy of educational goals, the cognitive domain has five layers in the pyramid of knowledge;the psychomotor domain of Simpson’s has seven layers, and Bloom’s affective domain is represented by five in another pyramid. In addition, the above seven layers of the process model and the seven layers of the skill level of the Dreyfus model were brought together. The integration of the above five typologies becomes a useful educational evaluation model when the relationships are clarified.

文摘Nine species of Prionospio complex are recorded from China's waters,including one new species and six newly recorded species.Prionospio(Prionospio) pacifica sp.nov.,is characterized by having first and forth pairs of branchiae pinnate,second and third pairs of apinnate,ventral crest on Setiger 9 and dorsal crests on Setigers 10-25.Apoprionospio kirrae(Wilson,1990),Prionospio(Aquilaspio) convexa Imajima,1990,Prionospio(Minuspio) multibranchiata Berkeley,1927,Prionospio(Prionospio) bocki Sderstrm,1920,Prionospio(Prionospio) dubia Maciolek,1985 and Prionospio(Prionospio) paradisea Imajima,1990 are recorded for the first time from China's waters.

文摘We describe a new species of the genus Tylototriton from Ingyin Taung Mt.,Mohnyin Township,Kachin State,Myanmar,based on morphological and molecular evidence.The new species is assigned to the subgenus Tylototriton s.str.and is clearly distinct from all known congeners by the following characters:medium body size;thin,long tail,lacking lateral grooves;rough skin;truncate snout;wide,protruding supratemporal bony ridges on head,beginning at anterior corner of orbit;weak,almost indistinct sagittal ridge;long,thin limbs,broadly overlapping when adpressed along body;distinct,wide,non-segmented vertebral ridge;13 or 14 rib nodules;brown to darkbrown background coloration with dull orange-brown to yellowish-brown markings on labial regions,parotoids,rib nodules,whole limbs,vent,and ventral tail ridge.We also briefly discuss biogeography and species diversity of the genus Tylototriton in Myanmar.

文摘Two cyanobacterial strains CHAB5870 and CHAB5871 morphologically identifi ed as Nostoc-like species were isolated from different habitats in China,and they were phylogenetically and taxonomically characterized based on a polyphasic approach combining morphological,ecological,and molecular data.In the 16S rRNA gene phylogeny inferred using maximum likelihood,maximum-parismony,and bayesian inference methods,these two strains clustered within the Pseudoaliinostoc clade.The 16S rRNA gene sequences of these two strains displayed≥95.5%and≤98%similarity to Pseudoaliinostoc species,which indicated them to represent new species of the genus Pseudoaliinostoc.Furthermore,the unique pattern of D1-D1′and Box-B helix of the 16S–23S rRNA internal transcribed spacer(ITS)secondary structure also revealed that two strains represented novel species.These results supported the establishment of two new Pseudoaliinostoc species with the name P.jiangxiense sp.nov.and P.yunnanense sp.nov.

文摘A new species of small tree frog from a primary montane tropical forest of central Vietnam, Tay Nguyen Plateau, is described based on morphological, molecular, and acoustic evidence. The Golden Bug-Eyed Frog, Theloderma auratum sp. nov., is distinguishable from its congeners and other small rhacophorid species based on a combination of the following morphological attributes: (1) bony ridges on head absent; (2) smooth skin completely lacking calcified warts or asperities; (3) pointed elongated tapering snout; (4) vocal opening in males absent; (5) vomerine teeth absent; (6) males of small body size (SVL 21.8-26.4 mm); (7) head longer than wide; ED/SVL ratio 13%-15%; ESL/SVL ratio 16%-20%; (8) small tympanum (TD/EL ratio 50%-60%) with few tiny tubercles; (9) supratympanic fold absent; (10) ventral surfaces completely smooth; (11 ) webbing between fingers absent; (12) outer and inner metacarpal tubercles present, supernumerary metacarpal tubercle single, medial, oval in shape; (13) toes half-webbed: I 2-21/4 II 11/^-23/~ III 2-31/4 IV 3-11/2 V; (14) inner metatarsal tubercle present, oval; outer metatarsal tubercle absent; (15) iris bicolored; (16) dorsal surfaces golden-yellow with sparse golden-orange speckling or reticulations and few small dark-brown spots; (17) lateral sides of head and body with wide dark reddish-brown to black lateral stripes, clearlyseparated from lighter dorsal coloration by straight contrasting edge; (18) ventral surfaces of body, throat, and chest greyish-blue with indistinct brown confluent blotches; (19) upper eyelids with few (3-5) very small flat reddish superciliary tubercles; (20) limbs dorsally reddish-brown, ventrally brown with small bluish-white speckles. The new species is also distinct from all congeners in 12S rRNA to 16S rRNA mitochondrial DNA fragment sequences (uncorrected genetic distance P〉8.9%). Advertisement call and tadpole morphology of the new species are described. Our molecular data showed Theloderma auratum sp. nov. to be a sister species of Th. palliatum from Langbian Plateau in southern Vietnam.

文摘Avocado is one of the most important crops in the world, and Mexico is the largest producer of this fruit. Several insect pests affect its production, and thrips are amongst the most important. A key step in the design of control methods is accurate species identification. Despite this, formal reports on species diversity of thrips in Mexico are very scarce. Morphological identification can sometimes be time-consuming and inconclusive. Therefore, we explored the species diversity of thrips in Mexican avocado orchards (Michoacan state) based on partial sequences of the mitochondrial gene cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COl). Forty-four specimens were analysed, which represented approximately 8% of all individuals collected from five localities distributed in three Municipalities. All specimens were analysed using the COl marker, and specimens within the genera Frankliniella were also analysed using a marker within the D2 domain of the 28S (28SD2) nuclear ribosomal DNA. Molecular identifications were confirmed using morphological taxonomy. Overall, six genera were found (Neohydatothrips, Scirtothrips, Frankliniella, Arorathrips, Caliothrips and Leptothrips). AII genera contained only one species, except Frankliniella, for which there were six species. Data from the two molecular markers suggest the existence of cryptic species within Mexican F. occidentalis populations.
文摘This study aimed to perform the taxonomic survey of the species of periphytic Cyanobacteria in a lentic tropical environment, seeking to contribute to the knowledge on biodiversity and their distribution. This study was conducted at the Samambaia Reservoir, which is located at Federal University of Goiás, Goiania, Central West region of Brazil. In general, the water of the Samambaia Reservoir is characterized as more turbid and the increased biochemical oxygen demand as well as a higher concentration of coliforms in the rainy season. Twenty six samples were collected, ten in the dry season (09/2010 and 11/2010;07/2012) and ten in the rainy season (01/2011 and 03/2011;01/2013). Periphyton was collected from stems of aquatic plants (Cyperaceae), which were in the marginal area of the reservoir. With the floristic survey, 38 taxa of Cyanobacteria were identified in periphyton of the Samambaia Reservoir. Phormidium (family Phormidiaceae) and Aphanocapsa (Merismopediaceae) are among genera with the highest species richness. Regarding morphological types, many species of filamentous cyanobacteria were identified, followed by colonial taxa. In relation to the frequency of occurrence and the seasonal period, 14 taxa were classified in the rare category, 12 in common category and 12 in constant category. Regarding the seasonal period, Cyanophyceae were the greatest wealth in the rainy season (97.4%).
文摘A test items knowledge library system of for adaptive learning is proposed in this paper. The first step is to carry out the quantity and quality analysis of the test items by using the Bloom's revised taxonomy and scale anchoring respectively to produce the characteristics for test items. A smoothing method of arbitrary anchoring revised from scale anchoring is first proposed to make tests more accurate in distinguishing test levels. In addition, raised three dimensional indicators based on the Bloom's revised taxonomy are adopted to validate test contents and therefore it concretely describes the examining function of items. The items obtained have the precise and concrete properties; an item knowledge library is therefore constructed combining teaching materials and items using the technologies of ontology and knowledge management. Finally, a knowledge library system of test items is established to achieve the purpose of adaptive learning for learners.
