The annual diet composition, monthly variations in the diet composition, the variations of diet with length and the intensity of feeding were studied. Boops hoops feed on a wide variety of prey types: Crustacean (49.0%), Porifera (22.7%), Coelenterate (10.2%), Seagrasses (9.2%), Mollusca (8.1%) and Protozoa (0.9%). The Crustacean, Porifera, Coelenterate, Seagrasses and Mollusca were the major food item all year round and it was found in all length groups. In the present study, Crustacean, Porifera, Seagrasses and Mollusca increased as the size increased while Coelenterate and Protozoa decreased as the fish size increased. The feeding intensity was quite high during the autumn and summer.展开更多
Objective:To determine the fecundity of Boops boops(B.boops)from Aegean Sea coast of Turkey.Methods:A total of 470 specimens of B.boops were collected monthly from November in 2008 to October of 2009 in Izmir Bay(cent...Objective:To determine the fecundity of Boops boops(B.boops)from Aegean Sea coast of Turkey.Methods:A total of 470 specimens of B.boops were collected monthly from November in 2008 to October of 2009 in Izmir Bay(central Aegean Sea).Total length and total weight of each fish were measured and the maturity stages of gonads were determined.About 30 mature ovariums were taken to determine fecundity and oocysts were counted by using gravimetric method.Results:About 210 were females(44.7%)and 226 males(48.1%)while 34(7.2%)were hermafrodite in terms of sexuality with sex ratio(female:male)of 0.93:1.00.The fecundity of the bogue was assessed by the gravimetric method with 30 ovaries from females between the total length of 19.6 and 27.6 cm[(mean:23.5±2.1)cm].Estimates of total fecundity varied between 33072 and 66123 oocytes(mean:49008±8826)and fecundity-total length,fecundity-weight relationships were expressed as:F=8207.6e^(0.075TL),F=30297e^(0.003TW)respectively.Conclusions:The results of the study will contribute to the reproductive biology of B.boops and will be useful for management of fisheries.展开更多

There are several known causes of BOOP, and several systemic disorders have BOOP as an associated primary pulmonary lesion. Numerous agents including cytotoxic and noncytotoxic drugs have the potential to cause pulmonary toxicity. Descriptions of amiodarone-related BOOP continue to be reported throughout the world. Case Report: We reported a patient with original clinical presentation who developed recurrent sustained ventricular tachycardia (SVT) despite the presence of implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), hypoxaemia and interstitial pneumonitis in both lung bases. After percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, he developed bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP). Conclusions: To our knowledge, such complications after percutaneous coronary procedure in patients with amiodarone therapy for arrhythmia prophylaxis, are not very frequent in literature.展开更多
