A nov...Successful prediction of protein domain boundaries provides valuable information not only for the computational structure prediction of muhi-domain proteins but also for the experimental structure determination. A novel method for domain boundary prediction has been presented, which combines the support vector machine with domain guess by size algorithm. Since the evolutional information of multiple domains can be detected by position specific score matrix, the support vector machine method is trained and tested using the values of position specific score matrix generated by PSI-BLAST. The candidate domain boundaries are selected from the output of support vector machine, and are then inputted to domain guess by size algorithm to give the final results of domain boundary, prediction. The experimental results show that the combined method outperforms the individual method of both support vector machine and domain guess by size.展开更多

This article mainly presents the prosodic hierarchy of Uyghur language, which belongs to Turkish language family of Altaic language system and further verifies the reliability of proposed Uyghur prosodic boundary annotation rules by acoustic analysis. In the prediction part, a two-layer shifting hierarchical approach based on decision tree is used for predicting prosodic word and prosodic phrase boundary, and the influence of different feature sets on the Uyghur prosodic boundary prediction is also investigated. Experimental results clearly show the acoustical changes and automatic prediction performance of different prosodic boundaries of Uyghur language, thus laying a good foundation for further research.展开更多

Concerning this system with a concise interface, plentiful data input/output interfaces, it is featured with high integration, simple and convenient operations of applications. In order to analyze the stress and strain fields in the fibers and the matrix in composite materials,a fiber-scale unit cell model is established and the corresponding periodical boundary conditions are introduced.Ass...In order to analyze the stress and strain fields in the fibers and the matrix in composite materials,a fiber-scale unit cell model is established and the corresponding periodical boundary conditions are introduced.Assuming matrix cracking as the failure mode of composite materials,an energy-based fatigue damage parameter and a multiaxial fatigue life prediction method are established.This method only needs the material properties of the fibers and the matrix to be known.After the relationship between the fatigue damage parameter and the fatigue life under any arbitrary test condition is established,the multiaxial fatigue life under any other load condition can be predicted.The proposed method has been verified using two different kinds of load forms.One is unidirectional laminates subjected to cyclic off-axis loading,and the other is filament wound composites subjected to cyclic tension-torsion loading.The fatigue lives predicted using the proposed model are in good agreements with the experimental results for both kinds of load forms.展开更多
