General objective: To study the knowledge, attitude and practice of health professionals of the hospital of the district of the commune IV on breast cancer. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional, prospective, descriptive, qualitative and quantitative study. The study period was from 01 October 2022 to December 2022. Results: In one week of survey, 110 health workers (intern, obstetrician nurse, general practitioners and specialists) received the survey sheet, 80 health workers informed it, a participation rate of 73%. The male sex was most represented at 63.75% with a sex ratio of 1.76. The average age was 39.59 years with extremes of 22 and 61 years. The clinical signs evoked by the participants were: breast nodule (81.25%), followed by breast discharge (48.75%). In relation to risk factors: interns and obstetrician nurses had no good knowledge, 51.72% of general practitioners had good knowledge, 43.48% of specialist doctors had good knowledge, and 5.88% of the wise had good knowledge. Conclusion: Breast cancer is a common pathology around the world, health professionals are at the forefront of the fight against breast cancer, and this fight cannot be effective without trained personnel.展开更多

In Saudi Arabia, breast cancer ranked the first among females in 2014, accounting for 15.9% of all cancers reported among Saudi nationals and 28.7% of all cancers reported among females of all ages. Early detection of breast cancer could decrease the risks, have a better prognosis, and have better outcomes/more successful treatments. Prevalence of breast cancer reached more than 25% of all diagnosed cancer in the kingdom among women. Aim: This study aims to assess the knowledge and performance of women attending primary care centers about breast self-examination and mammogram screening for prevention and early detection of breast cancer in Abha city primary healthcare centers, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Research Method: cross sectional design was conducted by using questionnaire, which was distributed to primary care center nurses. The collected data was statistically analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences, version 25. Results: The study found that participants had poor awareness and knowledge about breast self-examination, risk factors for breast cancer, and trends and practices in early diagnosis of breast cancer. Conclusion and Recommendations: It recommends increasing awareness campaigns and providing educational programs to improve knowledge and practices.展开更多

Objectives: To investigate the level of physical activity engagement after breast cancer in survivors and healthy controls. Design: A descriptive casecontrol study on survivors and matched (ethnic, gender, age) healthy controls was surveyed using a pre-post questionnaire and a 1-minute cancer control media. The socio- and medical demographic data, physical activity status information were obtained from self report questionnaires. Results: Breast cancer survivors (n = 51) were found to participate in low-moderate level of physical activity while healthy controls (n = 45) participated in moderate-vigorous level of physical activity. Healthy adults reported more barriers and excuses but all participants (90% survivors and control) were unaware of the strong inverse relationship between level of physical activity and risks of cancer recurrence. The post test on video showed an increased awareness and intention to re-engagement in physical activity for cancer control (M = 7.1 ± 1.53, p < 0.01). Conclusion: The finding suggests that simple public health message within the Model of cancer survivorship care must be disseminated. The “teachable moments” after a cancer diagnosis should be optimised to promote rehabilitation for physically active lifestyle.展开更多

During this time, focus on the whole woman and medical concerns beyond the breast cancer diagnosis itself is essential. In this comprehensive review, we critically review and evaluate recent evidence regarding several topics pertinent to and specific for the woman living with a prior history of breast cancer. More specifically, we discuss the most recent recommendations for contraceptive options including long-acting reversible contraception and emergency contraception, fertility and pregnancy considerations during and after breast cancer treatment, management of menopausal vasomotors symptomsand vulvovaginal atrophy which often occurs even in young women during treatment for breast cancer. The need to directly query the patient about these concerns is emphasized. Our focus is on non-systemic hormones and non-hormonal options. Our holistic approach to the care of the breast cancer survivor includes such preventive health issues as sexual and bone health, which are important in optimizing quality of life. We also discuss strategies for breast cancer recurrence surveillance in the setting of a prior breast cancer diagnosis. This review is intended for primary care practitioners as well as specialists caring for female breast cancer survivors and includes key points for evidence-based best practice recommendations.展开更多

Perceived health-related stigma(PHS)refers to the attachment of negative connotations to some types of disease diagnoses. PHS is common among patients with breast cancer and is associated with adverse emotions, attitudes and behaviors. This article summarizes the latest advances and new perspectives on PHS of breast cancer patients and approaches to block this deleterious process. Effects of PHS on patients with breast cancer, in this paper, and measures, predictors and interventions of PHS have been discussed in depth. Future studies should continue to develop more effective instruments that are specialized for measuring PHS of breast cancer patients, explore the predictors of PHS, and discuss effective interventions on the basis of the predictors.展开更多
