The system is able to detect surface defects on cold rolledstrips, such as scratches, coil breaks, rusts, roll imprints, and so on. Multiple CCD area scancameras were equipped to capture images of strip surface simultaneously. Defects were detectedthrough 'Dark-field illumination' which is generated by LED illuminators. Parallel computationtechnique and fast processing algorithms were developed for real-time data processing. Theapplication to the production line shows that the system is able to detect defects effectively.展开更多

We have designed a new non-interceptive strip line beam position monitor (BPM) as a substitution for the original interceptive fluorescent target. This paper gives out the theoretical analysis and bench test result of the strip line BPM. The BPM has a characteristic impedance of (50±5)?, a reflection coefficient of less than –4 dB, a band-width of 400 MHz, a coupling coefficient of less than -15 dB, and a sensitivity of 1.16 dB/mm. Additionally, the strip line BPM has a good linearity.展开更多

The transverse compressive stress, the buckling formation during strip traveling process, the location for the buckling taking place and the buckling criterion were investigated systematically. The result shows that the transverse compressive stress increases with the increase of the tensile stress and the crown of the tapered roll. Because the contact area between the tapered roll and the strip increase with the decrease of the crown, the tensile stress distribution is more homogeneous in the transverse direction of the strip. An additional transverse compressive stress is created and a buckling is also observed due to the friction during the strip motion in the second step.Once the buckling is appearance,it is very hard to be removed only through decreasing the applied longitudinal tension, because the strip wrinkle still keeps high level due to the effect of the buckled strip, the wrinkle would evolve into buckling eventually. The buckling formation process predicted by the finite element model is very similar to those observed in industrial processing lines. It takes place on the cylindrical part of the tapped roll and the buckling is moving to the middle part of the tapped roll with the increase of the crown, its width is about 2-4 mm.The criterion for the buckle occurrence is also discussed,in the prescribed situation, the transverse shell curvature increases with the strip displacement,if the transverse shell curvature reaches 0.1 mm^(-1), the buckling would take place.展开更多

Indeed the first model is consisted by modeling two metal ribbons without bulkiness, placed one above the other at a distance of h2 equal to the thickness of the thick conductor. This approach has been implemented and tested by the iterative method. The results of simulations have been compared with those calculated by the Ansoft HFSS software, and they are in good concordance, validating the method of analysis used. The second model is based on the calculation of the effective permittivity of the medium containing the thick conductor. This medium consists of a metallic region of complex relative permittivity , the rest of this medium is filled with air er2 = 1. The effective permittivity eeff calculated from these two relative permittivity er2 and . Comparing the simulation results of this new formulation of the iterative method with those calculated by the software Ansoft HFSS shows that they are in good matching which validates the second model.展开更多

But in reality these types of structures integrate metallic copper conductors of different thicknesses. If we neglect this thickness we introduce error in the electrical parameters of the microstrip structure, which affects the effective permittivity, the characteristic impedance, the adaptation of the circuit, the resonance frequency, etc. Given the importance of this parameter (thickness of the metal of micro rubon structures), rigorous electromagnetic modeling of the thick micro rubon line based on the skin effect phenomenon (In fact at high frequency the skin effect phenomenon occurs and the current only flows on the periphery of the conductor) has been proposed to improve the studied electric model and ensure the increase in the precision of the analysis method used: Wave concept iterative process. The good agreement between the simulated and published data justifies the improvement of the model.展开更多

Micro-strip branch lines are introduced to replace multiple resistors used in multi-stage Wilkinson power dividers to increase the bandwidth of single-stage Wilkinson power dividers. To demonstrate its performance, an improved single-stage Wilkinson power divider with four micro-strip branch lines was designed. Simulated results show that the insert loss is better than 3.2 dB, the input return loss, output return loss, and isolation are better than 15 dB respectively, across a 76% bandwidth from 18 to 40 GHz. .展开更多

This will be relevant in the manufacturing industries providing an easy method for determining necessary applied rolling load. Experimental rolling was carried out to observe the shear lines in the deformation field. Construction of possible slip line field model was developed adhering strictly to assumptions of rigid plastic model. Calculation of the deforming force/load was achieved using Hencky’s equation. Results showed that the load calculations for constructed slip line field using aluminium sheet rolling as an example tallied with values obtained from Tower Aluminium rolling mill. Slip line fields constructed for the second pass described adequately the rolling pressure in the cold rolling process, giving a valid solution of the exact load estimates on comparison with the industrial load values. Roll pressure along the arc of contact rose fairly linearly from the entrance to a maximum at the exit point. This work showed that slf for the first pass in a cold rolling mill cannot be used for subsequent passes;it requires construction of slfs for each pass in the cold rolling process.展开更多
