The model is a nonlinear system of partial differential equations (PDEs) that read as an initial and boundary value problem (IBVP). For the numerical solution of the IBVP, we investigate an explicit second-order Lax- Wendroff type scheme for nonlinear parabolic PDEs. We present the numerical solutions graphically as a temperature profile, which shows good qualitative agreement with natural phenomena of heat transfer. We estimate the thermal pollution of water caused by industrialization on the bank of a river.展开更多

The upwind scheme is used to avoid the numerical instabilities. The Burgers’ equation subjected to deterministic boundary conditions and random viscosity is solved. The solution uncertainty is quantified for different values of viscosity. Monte-Carlo simulations are used to validate and compare the developed solver. The mean, standard deviation and the probability distribution function (p.d.f) of the stochastic Burgers’ solution is quantified and the effect of some parameters is investigated. The large sparse linear system resulting from the stochastic solver is solved in parallel to enhance the performance. Also, Monte-Carlo simulations are done in parallel and the execution times are compared in both cases.展开更多

Understanding this equation is crucial for addressing challenges in fluid, chemical kinetics and population dynamics. We tackle this task by employing the Riccati equation and employing various function transformations to solve the Burgers-Fisher equation. By adopting different coefficients in the Riccati equation, we obtain a wide range of exact solutions, many of which have not been previously documented. These abundant solitary wave solutions serve as valuable tools for comprehending the Burgers-Fisher equation and contribute to expanding our knowledge in this field.展开更多

In this work, we want to study the case where it does depend on t(and xas well). For this purpose, we make a change of unknown function V=ϕSin order to obtain a saturation-like (advection-diffusion) equation. A priori estimates and regularity results are established for the new equation based in part on what is known from the saturation equation, when ϕis independent of the time t. These results are then extended to the full saturation equation with time-dependent porosity ϕ=ϕ(x,t). In this analysis, we make explicitly the dependence of the various constants in the estimates on the porosity ϕby the introduced transport vector w, through the change of unknown function. Also we do not assume zero-flux boundary, but we carry the analysis for the case Q≡0.展开更多
