RFID’s Impacts on Business Value:A Case Study of Supply Chain in the Discrete Manufacturing Industry

Radio frequency identification （RFID） shall be a revolutionary technological innovation in recent years. Various solutions employing RFID technology have proved their functionality already in such industries as pharmaceuticals, express parcel carrying, and automotive manufacturing, and the increased efficiency and effectiveness has provided a good payback for the investments. But, up to now, fewer researches concentrate on applying REID to heavy-machinery manufacturing enterprises, which are a typical kind of enterprises in discrete manufacturing industry. The main objective of this case study is to extend our understanding of the potential for RFID to delivery of the heavy-machinery manufacturing enterprise, which involves one specific supply chain. A trial to automate the verification activities of delivery is designed and performed. Results show that the stops currently designed into the processes can be eliminated by employing RFID technology and that RFID should be a revolutionary technology as it redesigns the existing processes, eliminate some current inefficiency, improve the accuracy of delivering the products, increases information sharing between supply chain members.

A Boosted Tree-Based Predictive Model for Business Analytics

Business Analytics is one of the vital processes that must be incorpo-rated into any business.It supports decision-makers in analyzing and predicting future trends based on facts(Data-driven decisions),especially when dealing with a massive amount of business data.Decision Trees are essential for business ana-lytics to predict business opportunities and future trends that can retain corpora-tions’competitive advantage and survival and improve their business value.This research proposes a tree-based predictive model for business analytics.The model is developed based on ranking business features and gradient-boosted trees.For validation purposes,the model is tested on a real-world dataset of Universal Bank to predict personal loan acceptance.It is validated based on Accuracy,Precision,Recall,and F-score.The experimentfindings show that the proposed model can predict personal loan acceptance efficiently and effectively with better accuracy than the traditional tree-based models.The model can also deal with a massive amount of business data and support corporations’decision-making process.

Study on blockchain technology from an information system perspective

Blockchain,as a decentralized platform and distributed ledger technology,will complement and promote the existing centralized system to form a relatively comprehensive ecosystem.A systematic review of blockchain research on information system(IS)disciplines during the five years from 2016 to 2020 selected dozens of papers from 16 leading IS journals.The technological characteristics and implementation models of blockchain are introduced,highlighting and discussing its research status and development in context.Moreover,the future research directions for blockchain in IS are illustrated.It aims to discuss the decentralized and emerging technology of blockchain in its early development stage and to depict the relevant IS issues that are worthy of further investigation.

Understanding Big Data for Industrial Innovation and Design:The Missing Information Systems Perspective

This paper identifies a need to complement the current rich technical and mathematical research agenda on big data with a more information systems and information science strand, which focuses on the business value of big data. An agenda of research for information systems would explore motives for using big data in real organizational contexts, and consider proposed benefits, such as increased effectiveness and efficiency, production of high-quality products/services, creation of added business value, and stimulation of innovation and design. Impacts of such research on the academic community, the industrial and business world, and policy-makers are discussed.

Design of Creative Incentive Contract of Cultural and Creative Industry Chain from Dual Perspective

The duality of cultural and creative industry can maintain the independence of creative birth and management as well as taking into account of the artistic and marketability of creativity.Income distribution contracts that link the design process to the commercial value of creative ideas can solve the problem of quantitative incentives for creative subjects.At the same time,it can encourage creative subjects to complete commercial and artistic design activities.The principal-agent relationship between the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain is utilized to stimulate the creation of creative ideas in line with market conditions,so as to solve the problem of duality reconciliation of cultural and creative industries.Through the design of the cultural creative industry chain dual task creative incentive contract,in the process of encouraging creative design subjects to complete the design of the work to give consideration to the coordination of duality.By analyzing the influences of design capability,risk,cost coefficient and binary correlation on the optimal investment level and the optimal risk sharing level of creative subjects in two types of design activities,the input transfer caused by the variation of the above conditions is further discussed.
