Membership and typicality values can be simultaneously produced in AFCM. Con...To improve the accuracy of text clustering, fuzzy c-means clustering based on topic concept sub-space (TCS2FCM) is introduced for classifying texts. Five evaluation functions are combined to extract key phrases. Concept phrases, as well as the descriptions of final clusters, are presented using WordNet origin from key phrases. Initial centers and membership matrix are the most important factors affecting clustering performance. Orthogonal concept topic sub-spaces are built with the topic concept phrases representing topics of the texts and the initialization of centers and the membership matrix depend on the concept vectors in sub-spaces. The results show that, different from random initialization of traditional fuzzy c-means clustering, the initialization related to text content contributions can improve clustering precision.展开更多

By integrating feature weights, a formula for weight calculation is introduced to the clustering algorithm. The selection of weight exponent is crucial for good result and the weights are updated iteratively with each partition of clusters. The convergence of the weighted algorithms is given, and the feasible cluster validity indices of data mining application are utilized. Experimental results on both synthetic and real-life numerical data with different feature weights demonstrate that the weighted algorithm is better than the other unweighted algorithms.展开更多

The H. pylori isolates were obtained freshly from a...A useful helicobacter pylori-induced gastritis model using BALB/c mice was established for mimicking of human gastritis induced by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). The H. pylori isolates were obtained freshly from a human complex ulcer patient. BALB/c mice were fasted for 24 h and then 0.25 mL of 0.2 mol·L -1 NaHCO 3 was administered after by gavage to each mouse and 0.5 mL of 10 9 colonies formation unit per milliliter (CFU/mL) of H. pylori was administered 15 min. On the 3 rd day and 5 th day, the H. pylori inoculations were repeated. The inoculated mice were sacrificed in batch on the 5 th day, in the 2 nd week, 3 rd week and 4 th week. The gastric mucous membrane near pyloric portion was removed, treated and then cultured under microaerobic condition for detection of H.pylori. The remainders of the gastric membrane were fixed by 10% formaldehyde solution for pathological detection. The results showed that the H. pylori could be separated from the gastric membranes of inoculated mice. Obvious invasion of inflammatory cells in the gastric membranes of inoculated mice could be observed from pathological sections. It can be concluded that the inoculating fresh human H. pylori isolates can produce mouse gastritis. This model of BALB/c mice can be used for evaluating the therapeutic agents for the treatment of gastritis induced by H. pylori.展开更多

METHODS: Forty-six nodules in 36 patients (29 men and 7 women) were studied by ...AIM: To investigate the value of contrast-enhanced C3-MODE technology in differentiating malignant nodules of liver from the benign ones. METHODS: Forty-six nodules in 36 patients (29 men and 7 women) were studied by contrast-enhanced C3-MODE technology and contrast-enhanced CT in 1 wk before the biopsy or operation. A low MI monitor and a high MI flash imaging were intermittently performed. After the injection of contrast agent, the period from 10 to 30 s and the time later than 100 s were respectively defined as early arterial phase and the late phase. The vascularities of the liver nodules in the two phases were combined for differential diagnosis. Corresponding to the pathological diagnosis, the accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of contrast-enhanced C3-MODE technology were compared to those of contrast-enhanced CT. RESULTS: By C3-MODE technology, 33 of the 46 liver nodules were demonstrated as defected area in the late phase and were diagnosed as malignant tumors. Of them, 28 with hypervascularity in the early arterial phase were assessed as hepatocellular carcinoma, the other five nodules with rim-like enhancement in the early arterial phase were diagnosed as metastatic tumors. Thirteen nodules were shown as iso or hypervascularity in the late phase as well as centripetal filling in the early arterial phase and we made a diagnosis of hemangioma. Corresponding to the pathological results, the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of contrast-enhanced C3-MODE technology in differentiating malignant and benign nodules in the liver were 97.0%, 92.3% and 95.7%, respectively. With comparison to those of contrast CT (sensitivity, 94.1%; specificity, 91.7%; accuracy, 93.5%), the difference was not significant. CONCLUSION: Contrast-enhanced C3-MODE technology can effectively differentiate malignant liver tumors from the benign nodules. It highly agrees diagnostically with the pathology. We suggest that it provides a new approach for differential diagnosis of liver nodules in addition to contrast-enhanced CT.展开更多

This study aimed to ident...Determining the relatively similar hydrological properties of the watersheds is very crucial in order to readily classify them for management practices such as flood and soil erosion control. This study aimed to identify homogeneous hydrological watersheds using remote sensing data in western Iran. To achieve this goal, remote sensing indices including SAVI, LAI, NDMI, NDVI and snow cover, were extracted from MODIS data over the period 2000 to 2015. Then, a fuzzy method was used to clustering the watersheds based on the extracted indices. A fuzzy c-mean(FCM) algorithm enabled to classify 38 watersheds in three homogeneous groups.The optimal number of clusters was determined through evaluation of partition coefficient, partition entropy function and trial and error. The results indicated three homogeneous regions identified by the fuzzy c-mean clustering and remote sensing product which are consistent with the variations of topography and climate of the study area. Inherently,the grouped watersheds have similar hydrological properties and are likely to need similar management considerations and measures.展开更多
