First, t...The C-C method was adopted to analyze the nonlinear characteristics of masseter electromyography （EMG） signals and the chaotic degree by the largest Lyapunov exponent （LLE） of different genders and sides. First, the embedding dimension and the delay time were obtained through this method, then the phase space was reconstructed to resume the chaotie attractor and determine the LLE. The result shows that the trajectory of attractor is denser than Chen＇s attractor, and the LLE is positive, which means that not only the signal has the character of chaos, but also the chaotic degree of masseter EMG is relatively high. According to the value of the LLE, the chaotic degree of men＇s masseter EMG is higher than that of women＇s; when the dentition is normal, the chaotic degree of two sides is almost the same. Then, a conclusion can be deduced that if the LLE of both sides are in great difference, the unilateral mastication is likely to exist, which means that the nonlinear characteristics of masseter EMG can be applied to predict the unilateral mastication.展开更多
AIM:To examine the relationship between the trends in food consumption and gastric cancer morbidity in Poland.METHODS:The study was based on gastric cancer incidence rates and consumption of vegetables,fruit,vitamin C...AIM:To examine the relationship between the trends in food consumption and gastric cancer morbidity in Poland.METHODS:The study was based on gastric cancer incidence rates and consumption of vegetables,fruit,vitamin C and salt in Poland between 1960 and 2006.Food consumption data were derived from the national food balance sheets or household budget surveys.Spearman correlation coefficients were used to estimate the relationship between the variables.RESULTS:A negative correlation was found between vegetables(-0.70 both for men and women;P < 0.0001),fruit(-0.65 and-0.66;P < 0.0001) and vitamin C(-0.75 and-0.74;P < 0.0001) consumption and stomach cancer incidence rates.The same applied to the availability of refrigerators in the household(-0.77 and-0.80;P < 0.0001).A decline in these rates could also be linked to reduction in salt intake.CONCLUSION:The decline of gastric cancer incidence probably resulted from increased consumption of vegetables,fruit and vitamin C and a decrease in salt consumption.展开更多

This study aimed to characterize physicochemical quality and minerals in the mesocarp （pulp） of grugru palm, Grugru palm fruits from NE Brazil production area were collected and analyzed. The determinations included： respiratory rate, sugars, soluble solids, pH, titratable acidity, humidity, water activity （aw）, ashes, protein, lipids, total phenolics, total carotenoids, vitamin C, color and minerals. The fruit respiration rate was 74.45 mL CO2 kg-1 h1. High levels were found for sugars, soluble solids, pH, aw, lipids and carotenoids; however, the pulp showed low acidity, moisture and ashes. The values found for lipids, minerals and vitamin C are equivalent to those observed in the literature. The grugru palm fruit has a high rate of respiration, which turns necessary the use of conservation techniques and methods. The grugru palm fruit pulp shows physical quality parameters attractive to the consumer, physicochemical quality and nutritive composition which can be considered for food ingredients and alternative source of ingredient for supplementation of diet food for needy population.展开更多
