A new segmentation method, called multi-resolution Ganssian mixture model method, is proposed. First, an image pyramid is constructed and son-father link relationship is built between each level of pyramid. Then the mixture model segmentation method is applied to the top level. The segmentation result on the top level is passed top-down to the bottom level according to the son-father link relationship between levels. The proposed method considers not only local but also global information of image, it overcomes the effect of noise and can obtain better segmentation result. However, multiattributes are not effectively used in 3D modeling. To solve this problem, we propose a novel method for building of 3D model of geological anomalies based on the segmentation of multiattribute fusion. First, we divide the seismic attributes into edge- and region-based seismic attributes. Then, the segmentation model incorporating the edge- and region-based models is constructed within the levelset- based framework. Finally, the marching cubes algorithm is adopted to extract the zero level set based on the segmentation results and build the 3D model of the geological anomaly. Combining the edge-and region-based attributes to build the segmentation model, we satisfy the independence requirement and avoid the problem of insufficient data of single seismic attribute in capturing the boundaries of geological anomalies. We apply the proposed method to seismic data from the Sichuan Basin in southwestern China and obtain 3D models of caves and channels. Compared with 3D models obtained based on single seismic attributes, the results are better agreement with reality.展开更多

The most common primary brain tumors are gliomas, evolving from the cerebral supportive cells. For clinical follow-up, the evaluation of the preoperative tumor volume is essential. Tumor portions were automatically segmented from 2D MR images using morphological filtering techniques. These segmented tumor slices were propagated and modeled with the software package. The 3D modeled tumor consists of gray level values of the original image with exact tumor boundary. Axial slices of FLAIR and T2 weighted images were used for extracting tumors. Volumetric assessment of tumor volume with manual segmentation of its outlines is a time-consuming process and is prone to error. These defects are overcome in this method. Authors verified the performance of our method on several sets of MRI scans. The 3D modeling was also done using segmented 2D slices with the help of medical software package called 3D DOCTOR for verification purposes. The results were validated with the ground truth models by the Radiologist.展开更多

The approach consists of two succes- sive stages. Firstly, the KFCM is used to make a coarse segmentation, which achieves the automatic selection of initial contour. Then an improved CV model is utilized to subdivide the image. Fuzzy membership degree from KFCM clus- tering is incorporated into the fidelity term of the 2-phase piecewise constant CV model to obtain accurate multi-object segmentation. Experimental results show that the proposed model has advantages both in accuracy and in robustness to noise in comparison with fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering, KFCM, and the hybrid model of FCM and CV on brain MRI segmentation.展开更多

In this paper, a coastal zone segmentation model is proposed based on Potts model. By introducing edge self-adaption parameter and modifying noisy data term, the proposed variational model provides a good solution for the coastal zone SAR image with common characteristics of inherent speckle noise and complicated geometrical details. However, the proposed model is difficult to solve due to to its nonlinear, non-convex and non-smooth characteristics. Followed by curve evolution theory and operator splitting method, the minimization problem is reformulated as a constrained minimization problem. A fast alternating minimization iterative scheme is designed to implement coastal zone segmentation. Finally, various two-stage and multiphase experimental results illustrate the advantage of the proposed segmentation model, and indicate the high computation efficiency of designed numerical approximation algorithm.展开更多

文摘Spatially Constrained Mixture Model(SCMM)is an image segmentation model that works over the framework of maximum a-posteriori and Markov Random Field(MAP-MRF).It developed its own maximization step to be used within this framework. This research has proposed an improvement in the SCMM’s maximization step for segmenting simulated brain Magnetic Resonance Images(MRIs).The improved model is named as the Weighted Spatially Constrained Finite Mixture Model(WSCFMM).To compare the performance of SCMM and WSCFMM,simulated T1-Weighted normal MRIs were segmented.A region of interest(ROI)was extracted from segmented images. The similarity level between the extracted ROI and the ground truth(GT)was found by using the Jaccard and Dice similarity measuring method.According to the Jaccard similarity measuring method,WSCFMM showed an overall improvement of 4.72%,whereas the Dice similarity measuring method provided an overall improvement of 2.65%against the SCMM.Besides,WSCFMM signicantly stabilized and reduced the execution time by showing an improvement of 83.71%.The study concludes that WSCFMM is a stable model and performs better as compared to the SCMM in noisy and noise-free environments.

文摘In this paper, we present a new deformable model for shape segmentation, which makes two modifications to the original level set implementation of deformable models. The modifications are motivated by difficulties that we have encountered in applying deformable models to segmentation of medical images. The level set algorithm has some advantages over the classical snake deformable models. However, it could develop large gaps in the boundary and holes within the objects.Such boundary gaps and holes of objects can cause inaccurate segmentation that requires manual correction. The proposed method in this paper possesses an inherent property to detect gaps and holes within the object with a single initial contour and also does not require specific initialization. The first modification is to replace the edge detector by some area constraint, and the second modification utilizes weighted length constraint to regularize the curve under evolution. The proposed method has been applied to both synthetic and real images with promising results.

文摘To extract region of interests (ROI) in brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with more than two objects and improve the segmentation accuracy, a hybrid model of a kemel-based fuzzy c-means (KFCM) clustering algorithm and Chan-Vese (CV) model for brain MRI segmentation is proposed. Experimental results show that the proposed model has advantages both in accuracy and in robustness to noise in comparison with fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering, KFCM, and the hybrid model of FCM and CV on brain MRI segmentation.
文摘Tracking and segmentation of moving objects are suffering from many problems including those caused by elimination changes, noise and shadows. A modified algorithm for the adaptive background model is proposed by linking Gaussian mixture model with the method of principal component analysis PCA. This approach utilizes the advantage of the PCA method in providing the projections that capture the most relevant pixels for segmentation within the background models. We report the update on both the parameters of the modified method and that of the Gaussian mixture model. The obtained results show the relatively outperform of the integrated method.
文摘Aiming to solve the inefficient segmentation in traditional C-V model for complex topography image and time-consuming process caused by the level set function solving with partial differential, an improved Chan-Vese model is presented in this paper. With the good per)brmances of maintaining topological properties of the traditional level set method and avoiding the numerical so- lution of partial differential, the same segmentation results could be easily obtained. Thus, a stable foundation tbr rapid segmenta- tion-based on image reconstruction identification is established.
文摘With the widespread application of deep learning in the field of computer vision, gradually allowing medical image technology to assist doctors in making diagnoses has great practical and research significance.Aiming at the shortcomings of the traditional U-Net model in 3D spatial information extraction, model over-fitting,and low degree of semantic information fusion,an improved medical image segmentation model has been used to achieve more accurate segmentation of medical images. In this model,we make full use of the residual network(ResNet)to solve the over-fitting problem. In order to process and aggregate data at different scales, the inception network is used instead of the traditional convolutional layer, and the dilated convolution is used to increase the receptive field. The conditional random field(CRF)can complete the contour refinement work.Compared with the traditional 3D U-Net network, the segmentation accuracy of the improved liver and tumor images increases by 2.89%and 7.66%,respectively.As a part of the image processing process, the method in this paper not only can be used for medical image segmentation, but also can lay the foundation for subsequent image 3D reconstruction work.

文摘Effective and efficient SAR image segmentation has a significant role in coastal zone interpretation. Finally, various two-stage and multiphase experimental results illustrate the advantage of the proposed segmentation model, and indicate the high computation efficiency of designed numerical approximation algorithm.
