Deconvolution Method for Determination of the Nitrogen Content in Cellulose Carbamates

Cellulose carbamates (CC) were synthesized with microcrystalline cellulose as raw materials. The Fourier transform infrared spectra of CC with different nitrogen content were recorded. The accurate results of the nitrogen content for CC can be obtained by using the deconvolution method when the nitrogen content is less than 3.5%. The relationship between the nitrogen content and the absorption intensity ratio of the corresponding separated absorption peaks in FTIR spectra has been expressed bg an equation precisely.

A Novel Synthesis of N-Methyl-N-aryl Carbamates from Aromatic Amines and Dimethyl Carbonate Catalyzed by K_2CO_3/Bu_4NBr

A facile synthesis of N-methyl-N-aryl carbamates from aromatic amines and dimethyl carbonate (DMC) has been achieved with high yields in the presence of potassium carbonate (K2CO3)and tetrabutylammonium bromide (Bu4NBr) under solvent-free conditions.

Metallaphotoredox-Catalyzed Three-Component Couplings for Practical Synthesis of Ureas and Carbamates

Ureas are widely used in drugs,materials and catalysts because of their diamide structure,which can form strong hydrogen bonds.Therefore,it is of great scientific significance to develop efficient and green methods for the synthesis of urea compounds,especially unsymmetrical ureas.Here,we have disclosed novel and highly efficient three-component coupling reactions of organic halides,sodium cyanate and amines enabled by nickel/photoredox dual catalysis for the preparation of unsymmetrical ureas.The reaction features simple and safe operations,broad substrate scopes,and product diversities.It allows the facile synthesis of N-aryl/vinyl ureas from readily available,user-friendly feedstocks under mild conditions(27 examples,36%—98%yields).In addition,this method is further derived to alcohols as nucleophiles to synthesize a series of carbamates(15 examples,40%—95%yields).The mechanism experiment shows that the isocyanate produced by the coupling of halide and sodium cyanate may be the key intermediate in this reaction.

Recent advances in transition-metal catalyzed nitrene transfer reactions with carbamates

Nitrene transfer reactions are powerful tools in synthetic organic chemistry.In recent years,transitionmetal catalyzed nitrene transfer reactions with carbamates as the nitrene precursors have been widely pursued.Such species undergoes facile C-H amination,aziridination,and bifunctionalization of alkenes under the catalysis of different transition metals including Rh,Fe,Ru and others,enabling the efficient construction of various nitrogen-containing molecules.In this review,the recent developments in nitrene transfer reactions with carbamates via N-O bond cleavage were introduced based on different types of reaction,and the key mechanistic information and synthetic applications of the methodologies were discussed.

Palladium-catalyzed regioselective cascade reaction of carbon dioxide,amines and allenes for the synthesis of functionalized carbamates

A palladium-catalyzed regioselective three-component cascade reaction of carbon dioxide,amines and allenes has been developed,providing an expedient and practical method for the construction of a range of functionalized carbamates containing dihydrobenzofuran or indole moiety in moderate to excellent yields.The broad substrate scope,good functional group tolerance and excellent chemo-and regioselectivity are the features of the transformation.

A novel and efficient strategy for the synthesis of various carbamates using carbamoyl chlorides under solvent-free and grinding conditions using microwave irradiation

We present an efficient, fast and simple strategy of generating the intermediate carbamoyl chlorides from secondary amines using stoichiometric amounts of bis（trichloromethyl）carbonate （BTC） in solution and solvent-free conditions with excellent yields. The results obtained showed the yield increasing on whether a base was used. Finally, an efficient and rapid synthesis of variety carbamate derivatives was developed by the reaction with a high variety of different alcohols, phenols, diols and this intermediate at room temperature with grinding and in solvent-free conditions under microwave irradiation. The presence of various safe bases is shown to be effective in reducing the reaction times, increasing the yields and easing purification. The present method does not involve any hazardous phosgene.

Effect of pesticides on phosphorylation of tau protein,and its influence on Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is a progressive and neurodegenerative illness which results in alterations in cognitive development.It is characterized by loss/dysfunction of cholinergic neurons,and formation of amyloid plaques,and formation of neurofibrillary tangles,among other changes,due to hyperphosphorylation of tau-protein.Exposure to pesticides in humans occurs frequently due to contact with contaminated food,water,or particles.Organochlorines,organophosphates,carbamates,pyrethroids and neonicotinoids are associated with the most diagnosed incidents of severe cognitive impairment.The aim of this study was to determine the effects of these pesticides on the phosphorylation of tau protein,and its cognitive implications in the development of AD.It was found that exposure to pesticides increased the phosphorylation of tau protein at sites Ser198,Ser199,Ser202,Thr205,Ser396 and Ser404.Contact with these chemicals altered the enzymatic activities of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 and glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta,and protein phosphatase-2A.Moreover,it altered the expression of the microtubule associated protein tau gene,and changed levels of intracellular calcium.These changes affected tau protein phosphorylation and neuroinflammation,and also increased oxidative stress.In addition,the exposed subjects had poor level of performance in tests that involved evaluation of novelty,as test on verbal,non-verbal,spatial memory,attention,and problem-solving skills.

混配农药中毒防治研究

首次在我国开展大规模的混配农药中毒流行病学调查,发现接触混配农药是当前发生农药中毒的重要危险因素,为针对性的预防提供了科学依据。毒理学研究证实多数农药混剂呈增毒效应或协同作用,且与其毒代动力学变化有密切关系,为今后开发高效、低毒的混配农药提供了毒理学依据。在国内外首次建立甲基对硫磷单克隆抗体酶联免疫测定法,并成功研制便携式血胆碱酯酶快速测定仪;这些检测接触、效应生物标志物的灵敏、特异、便捷的方法已试用于现场,并具有开发为产品的前景。同时还发现对氧磷酶基因在192位点的单核苷酸多态性,可能是甲基对硫磷免疫毒性作用的易感性生物标志物之一。在总结不同类别农药混配后所致中毒的临床表现特点和规律的基础上,修订现行的农药中毒诊断标准,增添了有机磷单剂及混剂中毒所致“中间期肌无力综合征”的新内容,将提高我国农药中毒的诊治水平。本研究主要成果达国内领先和国际先进水平。

地表水中氨基甲酸酯农药及代谢物多组分分析方法研究进展

N-methyl carbamate has been widely used in agriculture,and may be transformed into several metabolites,which can be more toxic and persistent than the parent.Thus carbamate residue in environment aroused a great deal public concern,especially in drinking water.In this paper,analytical methods for carbmate in water are reviewed,including pretreatment methods and instrument analysis methods,which is aimed to accelerate the proceeding of establishing Chinese standard method on carbamate in water and waste water.

Resistance status of main malaria vector, Liston (Diptera:Culicidae) to insecticides in a malaria Endemic Area,Southern Iran

Objective: To evaluate the susceptibility of Anopheles stephensi(An. stephensi) Liston, the main malaria vector in southern Iran, to WHO recommended insecticides. Methods: Larvae of An. stephensi were collected from three different larval habitats in both urban and rural area of Bandar Abbas city and one rural area in Rudan county southern Iran. WHO standard method was used for evaluation of adult and larval mosquito susceptibility. Bendiocarb, permethrin, lambda-cyhalothrin, deltamethrin as insecticide and temephos and chlorpyriphos as larvicide were used at the diagnostic dosages recommended by WHO. Results: Findings of this study showed all larval populations of An. stephensi were completely susceptible to temephos and candidate for resistance to chlorpyriphos. Adult mosquitoes in rural areas of Bandar Abbas city were resistant to pyrethroid and carbamate insecticides. Conclusion: Comparison of the results of this survey with previous studies indicates that the resistance to pyrethroids and carbamates in this malaria endemic region is increasing. Wide use of pesticides in agriculture is certainly effective in increasing resistance. The inter-sectoral coordination and collaboration in health and agriculture seem to be necessary to manage insecticide resistance in malaria vectors.

An Efficient and Novel Synthesis of Carbamate Esters from the Coupling of Amines, Halides and Carbon Dioxide in the Presence of Basic Resin

A convenient, efficient, one-pot, novel process has been developed for the synthesis of carbamates from corresponding alkyl halides and amines using basic resin/CO2 system.

Insecticide susceptibility in larval populations of the West Nile vector Culex pipiens L.(Diptera: Culicidae) in Saudi Arabia

Objective: To investigate the susceptibility to some conventional and non-conventional insecticides in laboratory and field larval populations of the West Nile vector Culex pipiens L.(Cx. pipiens), the dominant species in Jeddah Province, Saudi Arabia.Methods: The tested conventional insecticides were Actikil and Pesgard, while the nonconventional ones were Bacilod, Dudim and Baycidal. Probit analysis and photomicroscopical observations were carried out to shed light on acute toxicity in laboratory and field Cx. pipiens strains.Results: Cx. pipiens were more susceptible to Pesgard(LC50: 0.045 and 0.032 mg/L)than Actikil(0.052 and 0.038 mg/L) and Bacilod(0.129 and 0.104 mg/L), for the field and laboratory strains, respectively. Results showed that treatments with the chitin synthesis inhibitor Dudim and Baycidal evoked morphological effects similar to those induced by other insect growth regulators. According to IC50 values obtained(concentration which to inhibit the emergence of 50% of mosquito adults), the compound Dudim(0.000 3 and 0.000 1 mg/L) was more effective against Cx. pipiens L. mosquitoes than Baycidal(0.000 4 and 0.000 3 mg/L) for both the field and laboratory strains, respectively.Conclusions: Our results provide baseline data to enhance control programs and orient public health decisions on the selection of pesticides against mosquito vectors in Saudi Arabia.

Studies on the Purification and Characterization of Soybean Esterase,and Its Sensitivity to Organophosphate and Carbamate Pesticides

Soybean esterase, a cholinesterase-like enzyme, was purified by differential centrifugation firstly, then, ammonium sulfate precipitation, dialysis, and finally, DEAE-cellulose-32 ion-exchange chromatography after extracting it from soybean seeds with phosphate buffer （0.3 mol L^-1, pH 7.0）. The extract recovery rate of the purified enzyme was 8.18% and purification fold was 91.58. The soybean esterase appeared as two bands on the denaturing SDS-PAGE with molecular weights of 24 and 37.2 kDa, respectively, which proved that it is a dimer protein consisting of two subunits. The result of nondenaturing PAGE revealed that the soybean esterase is a single band with cholinesterase-like activity using α- naphthyl acetate as the substrate and fast blue B salt as coloring agent. The esterase showed very high sensitivity to 18 kinds of organophosphate pesticides and 6 kinds of carbamate pesticides with the lowest detective limits of 0.03125- 0.0625 and 0.03125-0.25 mg kg^-1, respectively, and can meet the demands of MRL specified by the most countries.

Novel method for the determination of five carbamate pesticides in water samples by dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction combined with high performance liquid chromatography

A novel method for the determination of five carbamate pesticides （metolcarb, carbofuran, carbaryl, isoprocard and diethofencard） in water samples was developed by dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction （DLLME） coupled with high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector （HPLC-DAD）. Some experimental parameters that influence the extraction efficiency were studied and optimized to obtain the best extraction results. Under the optimum conditions for the method, the calibration curve was linear in the concentration range from 5 to 1000 ng mL^-1 for all the five carbamate pesticides, with the correlation coefficients （r^2） varying from 0.9984 to 0.9994. Good enrichment factors were achieved ranging from 80 to 177- fold, depending on the compound. The limits of detection （LODs） （S/N = 3） were ranged from 0.1 to 0.5 ng mL^-1. The method has been successfully applied to the analysis of the pesticide residues in environmental water samples.

Probit Analysis of Carbamate-Pesticide-Toxicity at Soil-Water Interface to N_2-Fixing Cyanobacterium Cylindrospermum sp.

Toxicity-data of two carbamate insecticides, carbaryl and carbofuran, and three fungicides, ziram, zineb and mancozeb with rice-field N2-fixing cyanobacterium Cylindrospermum sp., obtained by in vitro growth and at soil-water interface, were analyzed by the probit method. Growth enhancing concentration, no-observed effective concentration, minimum inhibitory concentration, the highest permissive concentration and lethal concentration100 （LCloo） were determined experimentally. The LC^o values of carbaryl, carbofuran, ziram, zineb and mancozeb in N2-fixing liquid medium were 56.2, 588.8, 0.07, 4.2 and 3.4 IJg/mL, respectively, whereas the corresponding LCloo values were 100.0, 1500.0, 0.17, 25.0 and 9.0 IJg/mL, respectively. The LC50 values of these pesticides in succession in N2-fixing agar medium were 44.7, 239.9, 0.07, 1.8 and 2.3 IJg/mL, respectively, whereas the corresponding LC100 values were 100.0, 600.0, 0.17, 10.0 and 7.0 IJg/mL, respectively. Similar results with nitrate supplemented liquid and agar media indicated that nitrate supplementation had toxicity reducing effect. The LCso and LC^oo values of toxicity in the N2-fixing liquid medium at soil-water interface were 91.2 and 200.0 IJg/mL for carbaryl, 2 317 and 6 000 pg/mL for carbofuran, 0.15 and 0.50 pg/mL for ziram, 16.4 and 50.0 pg/mL for zineb, and 7.2 and 25.0 pg/mL for mancozeb, respectively. Each LC^oo value at soil- water interface with a pesticide was significantly higher than its corresponding LCloo value at liquid/agar media. It can be concluded that, under the N2-fixing conditions, the cyanobacterium tolerated higher levels of each pesticide at soil-water interface.

Enzyme Inhibition Rate Method for Rapid Detection of Organophosphorus and Carbamate Pesticides in Cowpea

[Objectives ] The paper was to explore enzyme inhibition rate method for rapid detection of organophosphorus and carbamate pesticides in cowpea. [ Methods ] Acetylcholinesterase （ACHE） was added to cowpea extract, to determine the inhibition rate of extract against enzyme. The influences of different sampiing methods and sampling parts on detection results were compared. [ Results] The positive rate of standard sampling was 18.18% higher than that of non-stand- ard sampling, and the positive rate of samples collected from cowpea tail was 16.67% higher than that collected from other parts. [ Condmions] Enzyme inhibi- tion rate method is suitable for rapid detection of organophosphorus and carbamate pesticides in cowpea.

Carbamate Synthesis from Aromatic Amines and Dimethyl Carbonate Using Lead Acetate as Catalyst

Carbamates are important intermediates in the syntheses of pesticides, herbicides, drugs, polyurethane-based polymers, and other fine and commodity chemicals.

The vapor pressures of n-butyl carbamate were measured in the temperature range from 372.37 K to 479.27 K and fitted with Antoine equation. The compressibility factor of the vapor was calculated with the Virial equation and the second virial coefficient was determined by the Vetere model. Then the standard enthalpy of vaporization for n-butyl carbamate was estimated. The heat capacity was measured for the solid state(299.39–324.2 K) and liquid state(336.65–453.21 K) by means of adiabatic calorimeter. The standard enthalpy of formation ΔfH[crystal(cr),298.15 K] and standard entropy S(crystal,298.15 K) of the substance were calculated on the basis of the gas-phase standard enthalpy of formation ΔfH(g,298.15 K)and gas-phase standard entropy S(g,298.15 K), which were estimated by the Benson method. The results are acceptable, validated by a thermochemical cycle.
