It is a challenge to understand and analyze the flexible energy behaviors in CNC machining systems. A method to model flexible energy behaviors in CNC machining systems based on hierarchical objected-oriented Petri net(HOONet) is proposed. The structure of the HOONet is constructed of a high-level model and detail models. The former is used to model operational states for CNC machining systems, and the latter is used to analyze the component models for operational states. The machining parameters having great impacts on energy behaviors in CNC machining systems are declared with the data dictionary in HOONet models. A case study based on a CNC lathe is presented to demonstrate the proposed modeling method. The results show that it is effective for modeling flexible energy behaviors and providing a fine-grained description to quantitatively analyze the energy consumption of CNC machining systems.展开更多

Feedrate scheduling in computer numerical control(CNC)machining is of great importance to fully develop the capabilities of machine tools while maintaining the motion stability of each actuator.Smooth and time-optimal...Feedrate scheduling in computer numerical control(CNC)machining is of great importance to fully develop the capabilities of machine tools while maintaining the motion stability of each actuator.Smooth and time-optimal feedrate scheduling plays a critical role in improving the machining efficiency and precision of complex surfaces considering the irregular curvature characteristics of tool paths and the limited drive capacities of machine tools.This study develops a general feedrate scheduling method for non-uniform rational B-splines(NURBS)tool paths in CNC machining aiming at minimizing the total machining time without sacrificing the smoothness of feed motion.The feedrate profile is represented by a B-spline curve to flexibly adapt to the frequent acceleration and deceleration requirements of machining along complex tool paths.The time-optimal B-spline feedrate is produced by continuously increasing the control points sequentially from zero positions in the bidirectional scanning and sampling processes.The required number of knots for the time-optimal B-spline feedrate can be determined using a progressive knot insertion method.To improve the computational efficiency,the B-spline feedrate profile is divided into a series of independent segments and the computation in each segment can be performed concurrently.The proposed feedrate scheduling method is capable of dealing with not only the geometry constraints but also high-order drive constraints for any complex tool path with little computational overhead.Simulations and machining experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness and superiorities of the proposed method.展开更多
Laser tracers are a three-dimensional coordinate measurement system that are widely used in industrial measurement.We propose a geometric error identification method based on multi-station synchronization laser tracer...Laser tracers are a three-dimensional coordinate measurement system that are widely used in industrial measurement.We propose a geometric error identification method based on multi-station synchronization laser tracers to enable the rapid and high-precision measurement of geometric errors for gantry-type computer numerical control(CNC)machine tools.This method also improves on the existing measurement efficiency issues in the single-base station measurement method and multi-base station time-sharing measurement method.We consider a three-axis gantry-type CNC machine tool,and the geometric error mathematical model is derived and established based on the combination of screw theory and a topological analysis of the machine kinematic chain.The four-station laser tracers position and measurement points are realized based on the multi-point positioning principle.A self-calibration algorithm is proposed for the coordinate calibration process of a laser tracer using the Levenberg-Marquardt nonlinear least squares method,and the geometric error is solved using Taylor’s first-order linearization iteration.The experimental results show that the geometric error calculated based on this modeling method is comparable to the results from the Etalon laser tracer.For a volume of 800 mm×1000 mm×350 mm,the maximum differences of the linear,angular,and spatial position errors were 2.0μm,2.7μrad,and 12.0μm,respectively,which verifies the accuracy of the proposed algorithm.This research proposes a modeling method for the precise measurement of errors in machine tools,and the applied nature of this study also makes it relevant both to researchers and those in the industrial sector.展开更多
The dimensional accuracy of machined parts is strongly influenced by the thermal behavior of machine tools (MT). Minimizing this influence represents a key objective for any modern manufacturing industry. Thermally in...The dimensional accuracy of machined parts is strongly influenced by the thermal behavior of machine tools (MT). Minimizing this influence represents a key objective for any modern manufacturing industry. Thermally induced positioning error compensation remains the most effective and practical method in this context. However, the efficiency of the compensation process depends on the quality of the model used to predict the thermal errors. The model should consistently reflect the relationships between temperature distribution in the MT structure and thermally induced positioning errors. A judicious choice of the number and location of temperature sensitive points to represent heat distribution is a key factor for robust thermal error modeling. Therefore, in this paper, the temperature sensitive points are selected following a structured thermomechanical analysis carried out to evaluate the effects of various temperature gradients on MT structure deformation intensity. The MT thermal behavior is first modeled using finite element method and validated by various experimentally measured temperature fields using temperature sensors and thermal imaging. MT Thermal behavior validation shows a maximum error of less than 10% when comparing the numerical estimations with the experimental results even under changing operation conditions. The numerical model is used through several series of simulations carried out using varied working condition to explore possible relationships between temperature distribution and thermal deformation characteristics to select the most appropriate temperature sensitive points that will be considered for building an empirical prediction model for thermal errors as function of MT thermal state. Validation tests achieved using an artificial neural network based simplified model confirmed the efficiency of the proposed temperature sensitive points allowing the prediction of the thermally induced errors with an accuracy greater than 90%.展开更多
Low stiffness and positioning problems are difficulties and challenges in the precise machining of near-net-shaped blades.This paper aims to achieve high accuracy in manufacturing by fixture-and deformation-control in...Low stiffness and positioning problems are difficulties and challenges in the precise machining of near-net-shaped blades.This paper aims to achieve high accuracy in manufacturing by fixture-and deformation-control in the adaptive CNC machining process.Adaptive CNC machining technology is first analyzed,and new fixture-evaluation criteria and methods to evaluate the adaptive CNC machining process fixture design are built.Second,a machining fixture is designed and manufactured after analyzing its positioning scheme,clamping scheme,materials(PEEK-GF30),and structure characteristics.Finally,the designed fixture is analyzed by FEA and experimentally verified by a cutting experiment.The results show that the deformation of the blade is an overall rigid-body displacement,the main deformation of the blade-fixture system occurs on the four clamping heads,and this fixture can effectively protect the blade from local deformation.The proposed clamping-sequence method reliably and effectively controls the local maximum deformation of the blade.The system stiffness is increased by 20 Hz,with each clamping force increased by 200 N.Both high-and low-frequency displacement in roughing milling or finishing milling are acceptable relative to the accuracy demand of blade machining.This fixture and an adaptive CNC machining process can achieve high accuracy in blade manufacturing.展开更多

The major goal is to examine the effect of crucial machining parameters imparted to computer numerical control machining operations when properly balanced conflicting criteria referring to part quality and process productivity are treated as a single optimization objective. Thus the different combinations of weight coefficient values were examined in terms of their significance to the problem's response. Under this concept, a genetic algorithm was applied to optimize the process parameters exist in typical; commercially available CAM systems with significantly low computation cost. The algorithm handles the simplified linear weighted criteria expression as its objective function. It was found that optimization results vary noticeably under the influence of different weighing coefficients. Thus, the obtained optima differentiate, since balancing values strongly affect optimization objective functions.展开更多

Equation about section curve of isometric polygon profile is set up by means of geometric principle. With the use of differential geometry theory, the curve is proved to be with geometric feature of convex curve. It is referred to as Isometric Polygonal Curve (IPC), because that is a kind of convex curve on which the distance between any parallel tangent lines is equal. Isometric Polygonal Profile (IPP) or Isometric Polygonal Cone Profile (IPCP) or Isometric Polygonal Topless Cone (IPTC) is formed with the IPC and straight line as generating curve. But the machining and measuring of the IPCP are so inconvenient that it has little value. Keeping in mind the characteristic of the IPP and IPTC, this paper puts forward the program method of CNC grinding machining. Isometric polygonal profile connection is a kind of polygonal profile connection. It has the superiority over keys (prismatic key & spline etc), and can be suit for the situations such as high rotative velocity, large torque, high precision, and small fixed room and vibration. Nowadays, some countries such as America, Russia, German and Switzerland applied CNC machining to the machining of polygon surface coupling parts, which makes their applications in machine productions such as motor engine, heavy machine increase day by day. But reports about concrete machining technology of isometric polygonal profile and programming of CNC machining program are very few. CNC grinding of the IPP and IPTC is one kind of the precision machining technology. It is of great importance to the popularization of the IPP and IPTC connection. From the forming mechanism, we can see that the machining and measuring of the IPP and IPTC are convenient, and therefore they have the value of the popularization. But the machining and measuring of the IPCP are so inconvenient that it has little value. In the programming the CNC grinding of the IPP and IPTC, it is more reasonable to calculate the coordinate of node according to the approaching method of equal error arc. This paper proposes a new approach for the shape design and manufacturing of the cylindrical cam. The design approach uses the relative velocity concept and the manufacturing approach uses the inverse kinematics concept. For the shape desig n, the contact points between the cam and the follower roller are calculated bas ed on relative velocity of which the direction is on the common tangential line, and then the whole shape of cam is determined from transformation of the coordi nate system. For the manufacturing procedures, the location and the orientation of cutter path can be allocated corresponding to the designed shape data. The in tegral NC code for multi-axis CNC machining center is created using the inverse kinematics concept from the data of the location and the orientation of cutter path. As the advantages of the proposed approach, the machine tool is designed t o having an alternative size in fabricating the general cam, while the tool must be fitted to diameter size of the follower in the conventional approach. Finally, CAD/CAM program, "Cylindrical DAM", is developed on C++ lan guage. This program can perform shape design, manufacturing and kinematics simul ation, which can make integral NC code for multi-axis CNC machining center. Utilizing the instruction domain, a work-process CPS model is established on the basis of the accurate, real-time mapping of the manufacturing tasks, resources, and status of the CNC machine tool. Currently, there are many review literatures intro- ducing the thermal error research of CNC machine tools, but those mainly focus on the thermal issues in small and medium-sized CNC machine tools and seldom introduce thermal error monitoring technologies. This paper gives an overview of the research on the thermal error of CNC machine tools and emphasizes the study of thermal error of the heavy-duty CNC machine tool in three areas. These areas are the causes of thermal error of heavy-duty CNC machine tool and the issues with the temperature moni- toring technology and thermal deformation monitoring technology. A new optical measurement technology called the "fiber Bragg grating (FBG) distributed sensing tech- nology" for heavy-duty CNC machine tools is introduced in detail. This technology forms an intelligent sensing and monitoring system for heavy-duty CNC machine tools. 文摘The dimensional accuracy of machined parts is strongly influenced by the thermal behavior of machine tools (MT). Minimizing this influence represents a key objective for any modern manufacturing industry. Thermally induced positioning error compensation remains the most effective and practical method in this context. However, the efficiency of the compensation process depends on the quality of the model used to predict the thermal errors. The model should consistently reflect the relationships between temperature distribution in the MT structure and thermally induced positioning errors. A judicious choice of the number and location of temperature sensitive points to represent heat distribution is a key factor for robust thermal error modeling. Therefore, in this paper, the temperature sensitive points are selected following a structured thermomechanical analysis carried out to evaluate the effects of various temperature gradients on MT structure deformation intensity. The MT thermal behavior is first modeled using finite element method and validated by various experimentally measured temperature fields using temperature sensors and thermal imaging. MT Thermal behavior validation shows a maximum error of less than 10% when comparing the numerical estimations with the experimental results even under changing operation conditions. The numerical model is used through several series of simulations carried out using varied working condition to explore possible relationships between temperature distribution and thermal deformation characteristics to select the most appropriate temperature sensitive points that will be considered for building an empirical prediction model for thermal errors as function of MT thermal state. Validation tests achieved using an artificial neural network based simplified model confirmed the efficiency of the proposed temperature sensitive points allowing the prediction of the thermally induced errors with an accuracy greater than 90%.

文摘Low stiffness and positioning problems are difficulties and challenges in the precise machining of near-net-shaped blades.This paper aims to achieve high accuracy in manufacturing by fixture-and deformation-control in the adaptive CNC machining process.Adaptive CNC machining technology is first analyzed,and new fixture-evaluation criteria and methods to evaluate the adaptive CNC machining process fixture design are built.Second,a machining fixture is designed and manufactured after analyzing its positioning scheme,clamping scheme,materials(PEEK-GF30),and structure characteristics.Finally,the designed fixture is analyzed by FEA and experimentally verified by a cutting experiment.The results show that the deformation of the blade is an overall rigid-body displacement,the main deformation of the blade-fixture system occurs on the four clamping heads,and this fixture can effectively protect the blade from local deformation.The proposed clamping-sequence method reliably and effectively controls the local maximum deformation of the blade.The system stiffness is increased by 20 Hz,with each clamping force increased by 200 N.Both high-and low-frequency displacement in roughing milling or finishing milling are acceptable relative to the accuracy demand of blade machining.This fixture and an adaptive CNC machining process can achieve high accuracy in blade manufacturing.

文摘A novel approach is proposed for correcting command points and compressing discrete axis commands into a C2 continuous curve.The relationship between values of rotation angles and tool posture errors is firstly analyzed.A segmentation method based on values of rotation angles and lengths of adjacent points is then used to subdivide these command points into accuracy regions and smoothness regions.Since tool center points generated by CAD/CAM system are usually lying in the space that is apart from the desired curve within a tolerance distance,and the corresponding tool orientation vector may change a lot while the trajectory length of the tool center point is quite small,directly machining with such points will lead to problems of coarse working shape and long machining time.A correction method for command points is implemented so that good processing effectiveness can be achieved.Also,the quintic spline is used for compressing discrete command points into a C2 continuous smooth curve.The machining experiment is finally conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
文摘This paper presents results obtained from the implementation of a genetic algorithm (GA) to a simplified multi-objective machining optimization problem. The major goal is to examine the effect of crucial machining parameters imparted to computer numerical control machining operations when properly balanced conflicting criteria referring to part quality and process productivity are treated as a single optimization objective. Thus the different combinations of weight coefficient values were examined in terms of their significance to the problem's response. Under this concept, a genetic algorithm was applied to optimize the process parameters exist in typical; commercially available CAM systems with significantly low computation cost. The algorithm handles the simplified linear weighted criteria expression as its objective function. It was found that optimization results vary noticeably under the influence of different weighing coefficients. Thus, the obtained optima differentiate, since balancing values strongly affect optimization objective functions.

文摘For the geometry characteristics of open free-form surfaces,it is hard to consider global interference during the planning of feasible domains.Therefore,the optimal kinematic orientation of tool axis will no longer be confined to the boundary of feasible domains.In this paper,according to the principle demanding that the tool should be fitted to a surface as close as possible and relevant processing parameters,a feasible domain of tool orientation for each cutter contact is planned in the local feed coordinates system.Then,these feasible domains of the tool orientation are transformed into the same coordinates system of the machine tool by the inverse kinematics transformation.The linear equations based feasible domain method and Rosen gradient projection algorithm are used to improve the optimization process in precision and efficiency of the algorithm.It constructs the variation of tool orientation optimization model and ensures the smoothness of tool orientation globally.Simulation and analysis of examples show that the proposed method has good kinematics performance and greatly improves the efficiency.

文摘Uncertain friction is a key factor that influences the accuracy of servo system in CNC machine.In this paper,based on the principle of Active Disturbance Rejection Control(ADRC),a control method is proposed,where both the extended state observer(ESO) and the reduced order extended state observer(RESO) are used to estimate and compensate for the disturbance.The authors prove that both approaches ensure high accuracy in theory,and give the criterion for parameters selection.The authors also prove that ADRC with RESO performs better than that with ESO both in disturbance estimation and tracking error.The simulation results on CNC machine show the effectiveness and feasibility of our control approaches.
文摘The formed principle and CNC grinding machining method of isometric polygonal profile are studied deeply and systematically. Equation about section curve of isometric polygon profile is set up by means of geometric principle. With the use of differential geometry theory, the curve is proved to be with geometric feature of convex curve. It is referred to as Isometric Polygonal Curve (IPC), because that is a kind of convex curve on which the distance between any parallel tangent lines is equal. Isometric Polygonal Profile (IPP) or Isometric Polygonal Cone Profile (IPCP) or Isometric Polygonal Topless Cone (IPTC) is formed with the IPC and straight line as generating curve. But the machining and measuring of the IPCP are so inconvenient that it has little value. Keeping in mind the characteristic of the IPP and IPTC, this paper puts forward the program method of CNC grinding machining. Isometric polygonal profile connection is a kind of polygonal profile connection. It has the superiority over keys (prismatic key & spline etc), and can be suit for the situations such as high rotative velocity, large torque, high precision, and small fixed room and vibration. Nowadays, some countries such as America, Russia, German and Switzerland applied CNC machining to the machining of polygon surface coupling parts, which makes their applications in machine productions such as motor engine, heavy machine increase day by day. But reports about concrete machining technology of isometric polygonal profile and programming of CNC machining program are very few. CNC grinding of the IPP and IPTC is one kind of the precision machining technology. It is of great importance to the popularization of the IPP and IPTC connection. From the forming mechanism, we can see that the machining and measuring of the IPP and IPTC are convenient, and therefore they have the value of the popularization. But the machining and measuring of the IPCP are so inconvenient that it has little value. In the programming the CNC grinding of the IPP and IPTC, it is more reasonable to calculate the coordinate of node according to the approaching method of equal error arc. According to the method of CNC grinding mentioned above to design the grinding machine, the structure is simple and of economical and practical.

文摘A case of remanufacturing used lathes via CNC technology is introduced, whose environmental and economic benefits are evaluated respectively. The results indicate that these environmental and economic benefits are remarkable, which are directly affected by remanufacturing design, more than 90% materials in used lathes are reused. Finally, the causes of economic and environmental benefits of remanufacturing machine tools are put forward. The remanufacturing design method, implementation procedure, and evaluation method of economic and environmental benefits presented are helpful for other equipment remanufacturing.

文摘To cope with the market demand dynamically,enterprise needs to obtain the production status of work in process real-timely,but the information of machining progress has feature of uncertainty and can not reflect the status of production field effectively.In this work,to overcome the ineffectiveness of computer numerical control(CNC) machining progress information extraction and its application restriction in practice because of heterogeneous system of CNC machine,based on information fusion by analyzing multi-sources information,estimating CNC machining status and predicting the machining progress through tracking tool coordinates,a CNC machining progress monitoring method is presented.The multi-sources heterogeneous information includes machining path,real-time spindle power information,manual input data and tool position.On the method of obtaining this multi-sources heterogeneous information,the method which helps explore numerical control(NC) program,monitor spindle power of CNC,collect human-computer interaction(HCI) information,obtain real-time tool coordinates and express the knowledge concerned in this field is analyzed; The decision rule of CNC machining status in the way of fusing multi-sources information in manufacturing process is summarized,as well as the machining progress tracking method in accordance with real-time tool coordinates and machining path is presented.Finally,the method discussed is proved feasible by the verification of machining progress tracking through simulation experiment.The proposed research realizes the effective integration of CNC machining progress information,and enables enterprises an efficient way to share CNC information and configure CNC resources optimally.
文摘A conventional non-computerized numerical control (CNC) machine is updated by mounting a six degree-of-free (DOF) parallel mechanism on it, thus obtaining a new CNC one. The structure of this CNC milling machine is introduced, and the workpiece locating system and the post processing system of the cutter location (CL) data file are analyzed. The new machine has advantages of low costs, simple structure, good rigidity, and high precision. It is easy to be transformed and used to process the workpiece with a complex surface.
文摘Cylindrical Cam Mechanism which is one of the best eq uipments to accomplish an accurate motion transmission is widely used in the fie lds of industries, such as machine tool exchangers, textile machinery and automa tic transfer equipments. This paper proposes a new approach for the shape design and manufacturing of the cylindrical cam. The design approach uses the relative velocity concept and the manufacturing approach uses the inverse kinematics concept. For the shape desig n, the contact points between the cam and the follower roller are calculated bas ed on relative velocity of which the direction is on the common tangential line, and then the whole shape of cam is determined from transformation of the coordi nate system. For the manufacturing procedures, the location and the orientation of cutter path can be allocated corresponding to the designed shape data. The in tegral NC code for multi-axis CNC machining center is created using the inverse kinematics concept from the data of the location and the orientation of cutter path. As the advantages of the proposed approach, the machine tool is designed t o having an alternative size in fabricating the general cam, while the tool must be fitted to diameter size of the follower in the conventional approach. Finally, CAD/CAM program, "Cylindrical DAM", is developed on C++ lan guage. This program can perform shape design, manufacturing and kinematics simul ation, which can make integral NC code for multi-axis CNC machining center. The proposed method can be applied easily on fields of industries.
文摘In this paper, the G-coding method in computerized numerical machining of a printed circuit board (PCB) is presented. PCB design data, which will be generated as the input data of standard G-code, is available to be obtained with ASCH or Excel format through the data exchange inte^ace of an EDA software Protel. With this open numerical control engraving system based on "PC + motion controller", it is possible to realize rapid PCB plotting in a small quantity, which is characterized by low cost and high accuracy, signifwantly shortening the R&D cycle of electronic products.

文摘Building cyber-physical system(CPS) models of machine tools is a key technology for intelligent manufacturing. The massive electronic data from a computer numerical control(CNC) system during the work processes of a CNC machine tool is the main source of the big data on which a CPS model is established. In this work-process model, a method based on instruction domain is applied to analyze the electronic big data, and a quantitative description of the numerical control(NC) processes is built according to the G code of the processes. Utilizing the instruction domain, a work-process CPS model is established on the basis of the accurate, real-time mapping of the manufacturing tasks, resources, and status of the CNC machine tool. Using such models, case studies are conducted on intelligent-machining applications, such as the optimization of NC processing parameters and the health assurance of CNC machine tools.

文摘Thermal error monitoring technology is the key technological support to solve the thermal error problem of heavy-duty CNC (computer numerical control) machine tools. Currently, there are many review literatures intro- ducing the thermal error research of CNC machine tools, but those mainly focus on the thermal issues in small and medium-sized CNC machine tools and seldom introduce thermal error monitoring technologies. This paper gives an overview of the research on the thermal error of CNC machine tools and emphasizes the study of thermal error of the heavy-duty CNC machine tool in three areas. These areas are the causes of thermal error of heavy-duty CNC machine tool and the issues with the temperature moni- toring technology and thermal deformation monitoring technology. A new optical measurement technology called the "fiber Bragg grating (FBG) distributed sensing tech- nology" for heavy-duty CNC machine tools is introduced in detail. This technology forms an intelligent sensing and monitoring system for heavy-duty CNC machine tools. This paper fills in the blank of this kind of review articlesto guide the development of this industry field and opens up new areas of research on the heavy-duty CNC machine tool thermal error.
