This study investigated the effects of adding graphene nanoplates(GNPs)and carbon nanotubes(CNTs)into the Al7075 matrix via the stir casting method on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the fabricated composites.By increasing the volume fraction of rein-forcements,the fraction of porosity increased.The X-ray diffraction results showed that the addition of reinforcements into the Al7075 changed the dominant crystal orientation from(002)to(111).Field emission scanning electron microscopy images also showed the distribution of clustered reinforcements in the matrix.Between the two reinforcements,the addition of CNTs generated a lower fraction of porosities.Through the addition of 0.52vol%GNPs into the matrix,the hardness,ultimate tensile strength and uniform elongation increased by 44%,32%,and 180%,respectively.Meanwhile,the presence of 0.71vol%CNTs in the matrix increased the hardness,tensile strength and uniform elongation by 108%,129%,and 260%,respectively. 展开更多

The mathematical models are developed to evaluate the ultimate tensile strength( UTS) and hardness of CNTs / Al2024 composites fabricated by high-energy ball milling. The effects of the preparation variables which are milling time,rotational speed,mass fraction of CNTs and ball to powder ratio on UST and hardness of CNTs / Al2024 composites are investigated. Based on the central composite design( CCD),a quadratic model is developed to correlate the fabrication variables to the UST and hardness. From the analysis of variance( ANOVA),the most influential factor on each experimental design response is identified. The optimum conditions for preparing CNTs / Al2024 composites are found as follows: 1. 53 h milling time,900 r / min rotational speed,mass fraction of CNTs 2. 87% and Ball to powder ratio 25 ∶ 1. The predicted maximum UST and hardness are 273.30 MPa and 261.36 HV,respectively. And the experimental values are 283.25 MPa and256.8 HV,respectively. It is indicated that the predicted UST and hardness after process optimization are found to agree satisfactory with the experimental values. 展开更多

采用熔融铸造法制备了12vol%CNTs(碳纳米管)/Al-Zn-Mg-Cu复合材料,再对该复合材料进行T6热处理。利用MG-200型摩擦磨损试验机研究了热处理前后CNTs/Al-Zn-Mg-Cu复合材料的干滑动摩擦磨损性能。试验结果表明:CNTs对Al-Zn-Mg-Cu合金有细... 采用熔融铸造法制备了12vol%CNTs(碳纳米管)/Al-Zn-Mg-Cu复合材料,再对该复合材料进行T6热处理。利用MG-200型摩擦磨损试验机研究了热处理前后CNTs/Al-Zn-Mg-Cu复合材料的干滑动摩擦磨损性能。试验结果表明:CNTs对Al-Zn-Mg-Cu合金有细晶强化作用,提高了合金的硬度,固溶处理消除了铸造复合材料中的第二相偏析,并且在时效处理之后MgZn2强化相的析出大幅度提升了材料的性能。在40 N的载荷和200 r/min转速时,T6态CNTs/Al-Zn-Mg-Cu复合材料的磨损率和摩擦系数分别为0.0489 g/mm和0.281,与铸造复合材料相比,材料的磨损率和摩擦系数分别降低64.79%和28.47%。这是由于热处理之后试样的强度和硬度增大,从而有效改善了材料的耐磨性能。未热处理的复合材料主要存在黏着磨损和磨粒磨损,而热处理之后复合材料的主要磨损机理为磨粒磨损。 展开更多

Carbon nauotube( CNT) reinforced aluminum metal matrix composites were welded by electron beam welding and the microstructures of welded joints were investigated. The result showed that the interracial reaction happened between the CNTs and Al matrix, which resulted in producing brittle Al4 C3 compounds in electron beam welds. The extent of interfacial reaction varies gradually in the depth and width direction. The length of the reactants Al4C3 became short duo to the temperature gradient in the molten pool. The quantity and size of Al4 C3 compounds increased with the increase of beam current and the decrease of welding speed in the middle zone of weld. However, no needle-like phase Al4C3 was observed in HAZ. 展开更多

目的研究双模CNT/Al复合材料在塑性加工过程中的微观结构演变行为。方法通过ABAQUS/Python二次开发,对双模CNT/Al复合材料代表性体积单元(RVE)进行参数化建模,并基于显式动力学求解器和欧拉-拉格朗日耦合技术,对双模CNT/Al复合材料RVE... 目的研究双模CNT/Al复合材料在塑性加工过程中的微观结构演变行为。方法通过ABAQUS/Python二次开发,对双模CNT/Al复合材料代表性体积单元(RVE)进行参数化建模,并基于显式动力学求解器和欧拉-拉格朗日耦合技术,对双模CNT/Al复合材料RVE模型的单向压缩过程和挤压过程进行数值模拟分析。结果单向压缩模拟结果显示,结构心部异质区两侧的等效塑性应变较大,结构边缘基体区域的等效塑性应变相对较小;最大等效应力位于结构边角处的基体区域,而结构心部异质区的等效应力则相对较小。通过对异质区材料和形态的影响规律进行分析发现,当异质区为粗晶材料时,其变形后的形态更趋于扁平,而当异质区为细晶材料时,其变形后的形态更接近椭圆。通过挤压过程的模拟,实现了对变形过程中双模组织结构变化的分析,模拟结果显示,材料表面与模具贴合良好,异质区随变形的进行被不断拉长,部分异质区由于拉伸程度过大,甚至出现了分离的情况。结论提出的模拟方法为双模CNT/Al复合材料的挤压变形工艺设计和变形后组织结构预测提供了有效手段。 展开更多

The interaction between Zn-AI eutectic alloy and Al203p/6061AI composites in the vacuum furnace was investigated. Great attention has been paid to the elements diffusion, the microstructure and formation of the interface between Zn-AI eutectic alloy and Al2O3p/6061AI composites. Experimental results show that Zn-AI eutectic alloy has a good wetting ability to Al2O3p/6061 Al composites and the wetting angle decreases with increasing the temperature in vacuum. After the interaction, an interaction layer forms between Zn-AI alloy and Al2O3p/6061 Al composites. The phases in the interaction layer mainly consist of α-AI(Zn), Al2O3 and CuZn5 resulted from the diffusion of elements from the Zn-AI alloy. Several porosities distribute in the region near the interface of the Zn-AI alloy/interaction layer. The amount of shrinkage voids in the interacting layer is relevant to the penetration of Zn element into Al2O3p/6061Al composites which is a function of temperature. So it is necessary to lower heating temperature in order to limit the Zn penetration. 展开更多

The mechanical properties and friction behaviors of CNT/AlSi10Mg composites produced by spark plasma sintering (SPS) were investigated. The results showed that the densities of the sintered composites gradually increased with increasing sintering temperature and that the highest microhardness and compressive strength were achieved in the specimen sintered at 450A degrees C. CNTs dispersed uniformly in the Al-Si10Mg matrix when the addition of CNTs was less than 1.5wt%. However, when the addition of CNTs exceeded 1.5wt%, the aggregation of CNTs was clearly observed. Moreover, the mechanical properties (including the densities, compressive strength, and microhardness) of the composites changed with CNT content and reached a maximum value when the CNT content was 1.5wt%. Meanwhile, the minimum average friction coefficient and wear rate of the CNT/AlSi10Mg composites were obtained with 1.0wt% CNTs. 展开更多

The aim of present study is to analyze the influence of volume percentage(vol.%) of nano-sized particles(TiB_2: average size is 35 nm) on microstructure, mechanical and tribological behavior of 6061-T6 Al alloy surface nano composite prepared via Friction stir process(FSP). The microstructure of the fabricated surface nanocomposites is examined using optical microscopy(OM) and scanning electron microscope(SEM) for distribution of TiB_2 nano reinforcement particles, thickness of nano composite layer formed on the Aluminum alloy substrate and fracture features. The depth of surface nano composite layer is measured as 3683.82 m m along the cross section of stir zone of nano composite perpendicular to FSP. It was observed that increase in volume percentage of TiB_2 particles, the microhardness is increased up to132 Hv and it is greater than as-received Al alloy's microhardness(104 Hv). It is also observed that at 4volume percentage higher tensile properties exhibited as compared with the 2 and 8 vol. %. It is found that high wear resistance exhibited at 4 volume percentage as-compared with the 2 and 8 vol. %. The observed wear and mechanical properties are interrelated with microstructure, fractography and worn morphology. 展开更多

To improve the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys, a 5 kW continuous wave CO2 laser was used to investigate the laser surface cladding on AZ31 B magnesium alloys with Al-Si/Al2O3-TiO2 composite powders. A detailed microstructure, chemical composition, and phase analysis of the composite coatings were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The laser cladding shows good metallurgical bonding with the substrate. The composite coatings are composed of Mgl7Al12, Al3Mg2, Mg2Si, Al2O3, and TiO2 phases. Compared to the average microhardness (50HV0.05) of the AZ3 1 B substrate, that of the composite coatings (230HV0.05) is improved significantly. The wear resistances of the surface layers were evaluated in detail. The results demonstrate that the wear resistances of the laser surface-modified samples are considerably improved compared to the substrate. It also show that the composite coatings exhibit better corrosion resistance than that of the substrate in 3.5wt% NaCI solution. 展开更多

Cylindrical components of in situ functionally gradient composite materials of Al-19Si-5Mg alloy were manufactured by centrifugal casting. Microstructure characteristics of the manufactured components were observed and the effects of the used process factors on these characteristics were analyzed. The results of observations shows that, in thickness, the components possess microstructures accumulating lots of Mg2Si particles and a portion of primary silicon particles in the inner layer, a little MgzSi and primary silicon particles in the outer layer, and without any Mg2Si and primary silicon particle in the middle layer. The results of the analysis indicate that the rotation rate of centrifugal casting, mould temperature, and melt pouring temperature have evidently affected the accumulation of the second phase particles. Also, the higher the centrifugal rotation rate, mould temperature, and melt pouring temperature are, the more evident in the inner layer the degree of accumulation of Mg2Si and primary silicon particles is. 展开更多

Because of the different conductivities between the primary phase (low electric conduc tivity) and the metal melt, electromagnetic force scarcely acts on the primary phase. Thus, an electromagnetic repulsive force applied by the metal melt exerts on the pri mary phase when the movement of the melt in the direction of electromagnetic force is limited. As a result, the repulsive force exerts on the primary phase to push them to move in the direction opposite to that of the electromagnetic force when the metal melt with primary phase solidifies under an electromagnetic force field. Based on this, a new method for production of in situ surface composite and gradient material by electromagnetic force is proposed. An in situ primary Si reinforced surface composite of Al-15wt%Si alloy and gradient material of Al-l9wt%Si alloy were produced by this method. The microhardness of the primary Si is HV1320. The reinforced phase size is in the range from 40μm to 100μm. The wear resistance of Al-Si alloy gradient material can be more greatly increased than that of their matrix material. 展开更多

Alumina or aluminosilicatefiibers reinforced Al-Si alloy matrix composite has more excellent synthetical properties at elevated temperature than the matrix alloys. A partially reinforced Al-Si alloy matrix composite piston produced by squeeze casting technique has a firm interface between reinforced and unreinforced areas, low reject rate and good technical tolerance. As a new kind of piston material, it has been used for mass production of about 400,000 pieces of automobile engines piston. China has become one of a few countries in which aluminum alloy matrix composite materials have been used in automobile industry and attained industrialization. 展开更多

During stirring γ-Al2O3 particles are formed by the decomposing reaction of AACH. It is found that the γ-Al2O3 particles distribute more uniformly in the matrix by adding AACH than by adding γ-Al2O3 directly. The wear tests show that the volume loss of the unreinforced Al-Si alloy matrix is about 3 times larger than that of the γ-Al2O3 reinforced composites and that of the composites fabricated by adding γ-Al2O3 is larger than that by adding AACH. 展开更多
