Influences of Uncaptured Electron on Energy Conversion of Photon Compton Scattering in High Power Laser-plasma

Using the single particle theory and the non-flexibility collision model of electron and photon, the influence of the uncaptured electrons on the energy conversion efficiency of multi-photon nonlinear Compton scattering in the extra stationary laser-plasma is investigated. It shows that in extra stationary laser-plasma,the uncaptured electrons make the Δω of the scattering frequency of the multi-photon Compton fall down with the increases of the incident radiation electron speed,the materials of the incident collision of electron and photon, and the number of the photons which work with the electrons at the same time. Under the modulation of the uncaptured electrons to the laser field, the energy conversion efficiency between electrons and photons will fall down with the increase of the electron incident radiation speed, using the low-power electrons for incident source, the loss can be efficiently reduced. 展开更多

The semiclassical non-perturbative atomic orbital close-coupling approach has been employed to study the electron capture and excitation processes in He^(2+)-H(1s)and He^(2+)-H(2s)collision systems.In order to ensure the accuracy of our calculated cross sections,a large number of high excited states and pseudostates are included in the expansion basis sets which are centered on the target and projectile,respectively.The total and partial charge transfer and excitation cross sections are obtained for a wide-energy domain ranging from 1 keV/amu to 200 keV/amu.The present calculations are also compared with the results from other theoretical methods.These cross section data are useful for the investigation of astrophysics and laboratory plasma. 展开更多

The total absolute cross sections of single-and double-electron capture (SEC and DEC) in the collisions of He^(2+)with He and Ne^(8+)with O_(2),N_(2),and CH_(4) were studied in the energy ranges 3.5–50 keV/u and 2.8–40 keV/u,respectively.Through a deep analysis of the experimental systematic uncertainties in the measurement procedure and data evaluation,the error in the experimental results of the SEC cross sections is less than 9%.Within the uncertainties,the present results of the He^(2+)–He collision show good consistency with previous measurements,validating the experimental system and paving the way for precise measurements of EC cross sections for a variety of ions and neutral gases.The present measurements allow for a test of EC theory and provide crucial EC cross section data for the establishment of plasma models in fusion research and astrophysical X-ray studies. 展开更多

The electron capture in N^(5+)-H collisions imbedded in a Debye plasma is studied by using the two-center atomic orbital close-coupling method in the energy range from 1 keV/u to 200 keV/u.The atomic orbitals and electron binding energies of atomic states are calculated within the Debye-Huckel approximation of the screened Coulomb potential and used in atomic orbital close-coupling dynamics formalism to calculate the electron capture cross sections.The electron capture cross sections and the charge transfer spectral lines of N^(4+)(1s^(2)nl)for a number of representative screening parameter values are presented and discussed.It is found that the screening of Coulomb interactions affects the entire collision dynamics and the magnitude and energy behavior of state-selective cross sections.The changes in electron binding energies and capture cross sections when the interaction screening varies introduce dramatic changes in the radiation spectrum of N^(4+)(1s^(2)nl)capture states with respect to the unscreened interaction case. 展开更多

Taking into account the effect of electron screening on electron energy and electron capture threshold energy, by using the method of Shell-Model Monte Carlo and random phase approximation theory, we investigate the capture rates of chromium isotopes with strong electron screening according to the linear response theory screening model. Strong screening rates can decrease by about 40.43% (e.g., for 6Cr at T9 = 3.44, Ye = 0.43). Our conclusions may be helpful to researches on supernova explosions and related numerical simulation methods. 展开更多

In this paper a projectile ions recoil ions coincidence technique is employed to investigate the target ionization and projectile charge state changing processes in the collision of 0.22-6.35 MeV Cq^+ (q = 1 - 4) ions with argon atoms. The partial cross section ratios of the double, triple, quadruplicate ionization to the single ionization (or the single capture) of argon associated with single electron loss (or single electron capture) by the projectile are measured and compared with the previous experimental results. In the present experiment, it is observed that the ratios of ionization cross sections R associated with single loss and single capture depend strongly on the projectile charge state and vary significantly with different reaction channels as impact energy increases. In addition, this paper gets empirical scaling laws for the ionization cross section ratios R corresponding to the projectile single loss and finds that the ratios of the double ionization to the single ionization associated with single electron capture remain constant in the present energy range. 展开更多

The relative importances of the single ionization (SI) to the single capture (SC) are investigated for the N^q+ (q= 5, 6, 7) projectiles, respectively. The SI/SC cross section ratio for the N7+ projectile obtained from our calculations is in excellent agreement with the experimental data. The ratio curves also show us distinct behaviours when the charge of the projectile is different. The partial electron capture cross sections for different projectiles indicate that the electron on the target He atom tends to be captured by the projectile into its lower orbital of the outer shell with the decreasing projectile charge. 展开更多

This paper uses the two-centre atomic orbital close-coupling method to study the ionization and the single electron capture in collision of highly charged Ar^16+ ions with He atoms in the velocity range of 1.2-1.9 a.u.. The relative importance of single ionization (SI) to single capture (SC) is explored. The comparison between the calculation and experimental data shows that the SI/SC cross section ratios from this work are in good agreement with experimental data. The total single electron ionization cross sections and the total single electron capture cross sections are also given for this collision. The investigation of the partial electron capture cross section shows a general tendency of capture to larger n and l with increasing velocity from 1.2 to 1.9 a.u.. 展开更多

Neutrino energy loss by electron capture on strongly screened iron group nuclei

The influences on the neutrino energy loss rates in iron group nuclei at the same density are investigated in the presence of strong electron screening and in the absence of electron screening. The results show that at a temperature of 15 × 10^9 K, the neutrino energy loss rates which come from the electron capture process for most iron group nuclei decrease no more than 2 orders of magnitude but for the others (such as ^53,55,56,57,58,59,6o Co, ^56,59Ni) they can decrease about 3 orders of magnitude due to strong electron screening (SES), whereas, at a temperature of 10^9K the neutrino energy loss rates of the most iron group nuclei can be diminished greatly due to the SES. For example, ^61Fe, ^60Fe, and ^62Ni the neutrino energy loss rates decrease about 4, 15 and 16 orders of magnitude and for ^57Cr, ^58Cr, and ^60Cr decrease about 18, 12, and 10 orders of magnitude respectively. According to our calculations the neutrino energy loss rates of nuclei ^58Mn, ^59Mn, ^60Mn, and ^62Mn may decrease about 13 orders of magnitude at a temperature of 10^9 K due to the SES. 展开更多

Electron cyclotron emission imaging(ECEI) can provide measurements of 2D electron temperature fluctuation with high temporal and spatial resolution in magnetic fusion plasma devices. Two ECEI systems located in different toroidal ports with 67.5 degree separation have been implemented on J-TEXT to study the 3D structure of magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) instabilities. Each system consists of 12(vertical) × 16(horizontal) = 192 channels and the image of the 2nd harmonic X-mode electron cyclotron emission can be captured continuously in the core plasma region. The field curvature adjustment lens concept is developed to control the imaging plane for receiving optics of the ECEI systems. Field curvature of the image can be controlled to match the emission layer. Consequently, a quasi-3D image of the MHD instability in the core of the plasma has been achieved. 展开更多

The accurate measurement of concentration is the basis for determining emission sources and sinks of nitrous oxide (N2O). The detection of N2O showed that the presence of carbon dioxide (CO2) biased the N2O response when pure nitrogen (N2) was used as a carrier gas for gas chromatography (GC) equipped with an electron capture detector (GC-ECD). In this study, laboratory experiments were carried out to explore how the presence of CO2 interferes with the accurate determination of N2O. The aims were to address the extent of the influence to try and explain the underlying mechanism, and to uncover technical options for solving the problem. Three GC carrier gases are discussed: pure nitrogen (DN); a mixture of argon and methane (AM); and a high concentration CO2, which was introduced into the ECD cell with a low flow rate based on DN (DN-CO2). The results show that when DN was used, the existence of CO2 in the ECD cell greatly enhanced the response of N2O, which increased with CO2 content and remained constant when the content reached a limit. Comparisons between the three methods show that the DN method is defective for the accurate determination of N2O. The bias is caused by different electron capture mechanisms of CO2 and N2O and depends heavily on the detector temperature. New GC carrier gas types with make-up gases that can remove the CO2-induced influence, such as the DN-CO2 and DN-CH4 methods reported in this paper, are recommended for the accurate measurement of N2O. 展开更多

lmprovement of the charge separation of titanosilicate molecular sieves is critical to their use asphotocatalysts for oxidative organic transformations.In this work,MFI TS-1 molecular sievenanosheets(TS-1 NS)were synt... lmprovement of the charge separation of titanosilicate molecular sieves is critical to their use asphotocatalysts for oxidative organic transformations.In this work,MFI TS-1 molecular sievenanosheets(TS-1 NS)were synthesized by a low-temperature hydrothermal method using a tai-lored diquaternary ammonium surfactant as the structure-directing agent.Introducing Ni^2+cationsat the ion-exchange sites of the TS-1 NS framework significantly enhanced its photoactivity in aero-bic alcohol oxidation.The optimized Ni cation-functionalized TS-1 NS(Ni/TS-1 NS)provide impres-sive photoactivity,with a benzyl alcohol(BA)conversion of 78.9%and benzyl aldehyde(BAD)se-lectivity of 98.8%using O as the only oxidant under full light irradiation;this BAD yield is approx-imately six times greater than that obtained for bulk TS-1,and is maintained for five runs.The ex-cellent photoactivity of Ni/TS-1 NS is attributed to the significantly enlarged surface area of thetwo-dimensional morphology TS-1 NS,extra mesopores,and greatly improved charge separation.Compared with bulk TS-1,Ni/TS-1 NS has a much shorter charge transfer distance.Theas-introduced Ni species could capture the photoelectrons to further improve the charge separa-tion.This work opens the way to a class of highly selective,robust,and low-cost titanosilicate mo-lecular sieve-based photocatalysts with industrial potential for selective oxidative transformationsand pollutant degradation. 展开更多

The ratios of transfer ionization (TI) to single-electron capture (SC) cross sections have been measured for the collisions of partially stripped C^q+ ions (q = 1-4) with He. The collision velocity ranges from 0.7 to 4.4 vo (vo is the Bohr velocity). The projectile-ion and recoil-ion coincidence technique is used to separate the processes of TI and SC. The ratios reach the maximum when the velocity is about 3.7 vo. This can be explained qualitatively based on the two-step mechanism. The experimental results are also compared with the results calculated using the classical trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC) method. The CTMC results are in agreement with the experimental data basically. The discrepancies in higher velocity region are interpreted by the effective charge effect. 展开更多

Point defects in the crystal lattice of SiC,known as color centers,have recently emerged as one of the most promising single-photon emitters for non-classical light sources.However,the search for the best color center that satisfies all the requirements of practical applications has only just begun.Many color centers in SiC have been recently discovered but not yet identified.Therefore,it is extremely challenging to understand their optoelectronic properties and evaluate their potential for use in practical single-photon sources.Here,we present a theoretical approach that explains the experiments on single-photon electroluminescence(SPEL)of novel color centers in SiC p-i-n diodes and gives the possibility to engineer highly efficient single-photon emitting diodes based on them.Moreover,we develop a novel method of determining the electron and hole capture cross sections by the color center from experimental measurements of the SPEL rate and second-order coherence.Unlike other methods,the developed approach uses the experimental results at the single defect level that can be easily obtained as soon as a single-color center is identified in the i-type region of the SiC p-i-n diode. 展开更多

The nonradiative charge-transfer processes of Be3+(1s)/B4+(1s)colliding with He(1s2)are investigated by the quantum-mechanical molecular orbital close-coupling(QMOCC)method from 10 eV/u to 1800 eV/u.Total and state-selective cross sections are obtained and compared with other results available.Although the incident ions have the same number of electrons and collide with the same target,their cross sections are different due to the differences in molecular structure.For Be3+(1s)+He(1s2),only single-electron-capture(SEC)states are important and the total cross sections have a broad maximum around E=150 eV/u.While for B4+(1s)+He(1s2),both the SEC and double-electron-capture(DEC)processes are important,and the total SEC and DEC cross sections decrease rapidly with the energy decreasing. 展开更多
