The work principle and design of the system's hardware and software are explained. The realization of the system's hardware and software is detailed from aspects of improving system's anti-jamming and fault self-examined capability, and the block diagram of each part's circuit is given. Finally, features of the system are summarized, and a comparison with the system based on RS485 was made to prove the advantages of the system. The appearance of shared and on-deman... Public transport services, particularly bus services, play an important role in a sustainable transportation system. However, despite various efforts, bus ridership has decreased. The appearance of shared and on-demand vehicle services is one of the main reasons for this issue. In addition, bus tourism services have been successfully developed to meet the exigent needs of tourists. Therefore, a new level of daily bus service is necessary to adapt to the changing demands of customers. Bus interaction (BI) plays an important role in bus services. Nevertheless, the conventional concept of BI mainly refers to users, physical interaction, and safety, but it does not address non-users, non-physical interactions, service quality, and other aspects. This study aims to elaborate on a new concept of bus services. Based on this, we developed a theoretical framework for BI. A meta-analysis was then conducted to identify the achievements and untouched aspects. The results of this study provide three main contributions. First, an unprecedented novel concept of BI is defined, including 13 types of interactions. Second, a comprehensive theoretical framework of BI is established based on the relationships between eight sustainable bus system sub-aspects and 13 BI types. Third, based on the theoretical framework and findings of the reviewed studies, a common finding comprehensive framework of BI is completed, which is accompanied by 1) key findings of the 13 BI types, 2) conclusions of traffic conditions affecting BI research, 3) BI research gaps, and 4) 16 main suggestions for future BI research. 展开更多

Improved transportation services are a crucial component of urban growth, particularly in emerging cities like Dhaka. Ensuring an improved public bus service quality is a challenge for the city’s transport planners and policy makers. Nevertheless, this challenge can’t be met without the support of the residents of this city. This study intends to evaluate the commuters’ willingness to pay (WTP) for an improved and better public bus service quality in Dhaka city. It also attempts to explore the factors affecting the commuters’ WTP amounts. In order to accomplish the study’s goals, a stated preference survey was designed to enquire into the whys and wherefores of female passengers’ harassment on public buses and also to prefer some influential service quality features. WTP values of respondents were calibrated using binary and ordinal logistic models, and these models were developed using SPSS version 26. The results indicate that the majority of respondents were willing to pay more for better service facilities, and they point to security as the most important factor in determining how much extra fare commuters are willing to pay. The results also demonstrate that commuters’ WTP amounts are highly influenced by the respondents’ monthly income. Results from this study have important policy implications, such as protecting women’s safety on public transportation and taking commuters’ socio-demographic characteristics into account before enacting any legislation or increasing fares. 展开更多

Problems such as bus being late all the time seem to become common. It usually annoys the customers and have a bad influence on bus companies.It's crucial to improve the bus service. This report adapts and applies a modified SERVQUAL approach to estimate the service quality in public transport. Wessex Red servcie, bus service in England UK, operated in partnership with the University of the West of England and the University of Bristol, is evaluated in the report being representative for bus service. In this study, the author has applied the SERVQUAL questionnaire among the three groups of customers in Bristol UK based on these five dimensions of SERVQUAL:"Tangibles, Responsiveness, Assurance, Reliability and Empathy"(Parasuraman, 1988). The results illustrates a high degree of importance placed on reliability, in which bus being late is an issue most concerned. The author analyzes the problem and finally provides suggestions and recommendation for the issue. This study is to provide a quality evaluation tool readily usable by transport operators willing to certify the service offered and it also offers a tool for practioners characterized by flexibility so as to fit individual needs. In addition, this study is beneficial to students who are learning Marketing. The study provides students a methodology in their marketing research. In order to evaluate how bus users make trade-offs across travel cost,time,reliability,etc.,and to investigate the extent to which the components of service quality vary according to relevant trip characteristics,this paper analyzes service quality of bus transit with the conjoint analysis. Through data analysis,the levels 'utility values of reliability,waiting time,walking time,etc.,on the commuter trip and the non-commuter trip are gotten,so it is the utility function of the transit system. Then the factors' weights are obtained through the utility values. The results show that on the commuter trip,passengers value reliability the most,which is followed by waiting time and walking time,while in-bus environment,price and station environment's weights are small. While on the non-commuter trip,the weights in a higher order to lower order are the first for reliability,the second for in-bus environment,the third for walking time,the fourth for station environment and the last for ticket price. 展开更多

Since public bus service is frequently available and reasonably priced in major cities of Bangladesh including Dhaka, the capital city, a significant number of economically active women regularly commute to work utilizing public buses. Since female commuters experience unique challenges compared to their male counterparts, a gap analysis on the perception of men and women, as well as the difference between the female commuters’ perceptions and expectations, could help to pinpoint the issues. The aim of this paper is to determine the gap between female commuters’ perceptions and expectations of bus service quality in Bangladesh, as well as the current perception of both male and female passengers. In this paper, the data obtained is studied to determine the service quality needs which should be improved by analyzing the perception and expectation gaps for female passengers. SERVQUAL models were used to examine the disparities between perceptions and aspirations in Bangladesh’s major cities. Tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy are the five dimensions of SERVQUAL. The data for this study was collected from 1500 commuters in Bangladesh’s largest cities, including Dhaka, Gazipur, and Narayanganj. Primary data was gathered using a purpose-built questionnaire survey. The Gap values are negative in all dimensions, according to the findings of the study. In the data analysis, a negative gap value indicates that the expectation exceeds the perception. According to the gap analysis, the quality of bus service for passengers is insufficient. Bus service quality is seen and expected to be quite varied. It is vital to improve bus service to meet the needs of women. The findings could be valuable in planning future transportation policies that take female commuters’ needs into account. 展开更多

Bangladesh is one of the most populated developing countries where public bus service plays a vital role as a public transport mode since it is easily available and cost-effective. In the social, commercial, educational, and administrative spheres, women’s participation in the labor force in economic enterprises is steadily expanding in the country. Very little research considers only women commuters to analyze the service quality of public buses and they selected only Dhaka city as a study area. However, a large number of trips were generated by women commuters in the industrial and commercial zones such as Gazipur, Narayanganj, and Dhaka. This paper ascertains the public bus service attributes that affect women commuters’ satisfaction as well as finds out the major problems of women commuters while traveling on public buses and the possible solutions to them. This survey included 766 women commuters from Dhaka, Narayanganj, and Gazipur who were interviewed face to face. Structural Equation Model (SEM) was used as the instrument for identifying the service quality (SQ) attributes that influenced the women commuters’ satisfaction. A series of models were developed based on the trial-and-error method and the model M<sub>3</sub> is selected as the best fit according to SEM fit indices values. The study’s main goal was to compile a list of service quality attributes that influence women commuters’ satisfaction. Major issues with the current public bus service in terms of safety and security, as well as remedies, were identified through discussions with experienced female commuters. These findings reveal that women commuters’ satisfaction is primarily influenced by safety and security, as well as the degree of comfort provided by bus service because they frequently encounter major safety and security issues on public buses and want an immediate remedy. This paper offers some potential strategies for addressing the issues, which may prompt policymakers to pay more attention to these aspects in transportation planning. 展开更多

To guarantee bus priority with a minimum impact on car traffic at intersections, an optimal control system of the intermittent bus-only approach (IBA) was proposed. The problems of the existing system are first solved through optimization: the judgment time of the IBA system was advanced to allow a bus to jump car queues if the bus was detected to arrive at the intersection, and the instant that the IBA lane became available to cars was controlled dynamically to increase the capacity of the IBA lane. The total car delay in one cycle was then analyzed quantitatively when implementing the optimal control system. The results show that in comparison with the existing system of the IBA, the car delay is greatly reduced and the probability of a car stopping twice is low after optimizing the IBA system. 展开更多

Public medical facilities that are closely related to the health of residents have been recognised as one of the most crucial elements in sustainable urban planning.For the sake of social equality of medical services(especially for emergency medical conditions),the spatial distributions of medical resources need to be accurately measured and continuously optimized.This study presents an effective method to examine night emergency hospital visit and analyse its spatiotemporal characteristics using float car data(FCD).By extracting the hospital service areas,the two-step floating catchment area(2SFCA)methodology was improved to calculate hospital accessibility.Then,the balance between hospital accessibility and population density was analysed.In addition,we investigated the relationship between individual hospital choice preferences and hospital level and analysed several factors that affect individual choices.These results help us understand the special requirements and need of emergency hospital travel in cities and identify areas where medical resources are scarce.They can be used as guidance for urban hospital planning and construction.And the approach of hospital access behaviour investigation and the improved 2SFCA method can also provide insights for other activity-based travel behaviour research. 展开更多

Public buses play an important role in public transportation in most parts of the world and it is still the dominant public transportation mode in some regions. Nowadays, as people switch to a mobile lifestyle, they spend significant amount of time on the traveling to work, back and forth. However, not much research has been done on how to provide some on-board service for those commuters in the public bus. This paper presents a Bluetooth-based system which is inexpensive, yet flexible, and scalable to serve commuters in a personalized manner using Bluetooth enabled mobile phones. However, from the Bluetooth specification, one Bluetooth dongle can connect to at most seven other Bluetooth devices. As we expect more than 7 users to use the services provided in the Bluetooth-based system (a full double-deck bus can carry around 100 passengers), we need to work out an effective scheduler to schedule all the private services on the Bluetooth servers in the bus. This paper also describes a scheduling algorithm that exploits the park mode feature of the Bluetooth specification to allow more users to have access to the Bluetooth services on the bus. 展开更多

Although CCS brings convenience and effectiveness, it also triggers some new problems like vicious competition. This work studies the duopoly competition between CCS company and taxi company, in terms of different average cost and number of vehicles of two companies. To find the solutions like the pricing scheme to ease the vicious competition, Hotelling model is introduced. The Hotelling-type model is used to present passengers’ preferences to the companies. Besides, failing situation is taken into account in the Hotelling model to describe the situation where passenger’s demand is not satisfied in reality. This work theoretically analyzes the price scheme and equilibrium market segmentation based on the average cost and number of vehicles of each company. Furthermore, companies’ profits, passengers’ utility and social welfare in equilibrium are revealed based on the game theory. The study shows that both of companies can get optimal profits by setting effective price scheme. The company which has higher price, definitely gets less market share. In addition, moderate competition can lead to positive influence on social welfare. 展开更多

Today, large quantities of vehicle data(FCD:floating car data) are widely used by traffic service providers to create and broadcast traffic states in road networks. As a first processing step, all raw position data received from Global Positioning Systems(GPS) have to be map matched in a digital road map. The technical aspects of such a matching process for GPS data are described in this report. After the matching process, spacetime-diagrams are created of the probe data showing traffic situation details over space and time. Various examples illustrate how traffic service quality depends on the number of matched GPS raw data; it will be stated that when 2% of connected vehicles in the total traffic flow are sending their GPS data in shorter time intervals, a high quality and precise reconstruction of the current traffic phases is achieved. Traffic reconstruction is followed by a translation into traffic information messages, which can be sent and used in vehicle navigation systems for driver information and dynamic route guidance. 展开更多

我国既有铁路客车保有量大、运用时空环境复杂,其服役性能的演变对运行安全和运维保障带来极大挑战。为系统掌握铁路客车服役状态,调研我国普速客车运营现状,并以车体钢结构为例,开展影响客车服役性能的因素分析。调研发现,大部分普速... 我国既有铁路客车保有量大、运用时空环境复杂,其服役性能的演变对运行安全和运维保障带来极大挑战。为系统掌握铁路客车服役状态,调研我国普速客车运营现状,并以车体钢结构为例,开展影响客车服役性能的因素分析。调研发现,大部分普速客车已逐步进入服役中后期,5T等信息化手段实现了对客车的全面监控。不同运用环境下,钢结构腐蚀情况不同,随着运行时间/运行里程的增加,钢结构腐蚀有明显加剧趋势。针对服役期间RW25G车体和209P型转向架疲劳强度开展研究,各关键部位均满足服役寿命30年设计要求;针对服役期间YZ25T车体和CW-200K型转向架开展跟踪测试,发现转向架个别关键承载位置产生损伤值较大。针对服役期间25T型客车动力学性能开展研究,采用TPDS、TCDS和添乘等手段开展跟踪测试,并结合实测车轮磨耗数据和减振器劣化数据开展仿真分析,结果表明,在1个旋修周期内,车辆运行安全性存在一定冗余;随服役时间增加,转向架关键部件的性能劣化或失效会对车辆蛇行稳定性和运行平稳性产生不利影响;开展随机参数的动力学仿真,发现极端工况下轮重减载率上升明显,应予以充分关注。 展开更多
