After preprocessing original data,6114 data records of milk protein percentage and 5871 data records of milk fat percentage were obtained. This study discusses effects of natural months, lactation parity and their interaction on changes of milk protein percentage and milk fat percentage, and the model is established using GLM procedure of SAS software. At last, results are as follows: (i) Duncan multiple comparison of natural months, regardless of parity (only parity 1 to 4) ,indicates that milk composition takes on significant difference between different months (P < 0. 05) . And milk protein percentage reaches highest in September (3. 187%), drops to the lowest in July (3. 016%); the milk fat percentage reaches highest in February (4. 137%),and drops to the lowest in July (3.845%) . (ii) Duncan multiple comparison of different parity, regardless months (January to December) ,shows that milk composition of different parity also takes on significant difference (P < 0. 05) although the difference between parities are not significant; milk protein percentage reaches highest in the 2nd parity (3. 114%)and drops to the lowest in the 4th parity (3. 066%); milk fat percentage reaches highest in the 2nd and 3rd parity (3. 983% and 3. 973%),and drops to the lowest in the 4th parity (3. 923%). (iii) Using Wood model, the relational expression between milk protein percentage (MPP,%)and milk fat percentage (MFP,%)of different parity and natural month,i. e. MPP = 3. 094x - 0. 046 4 × e 0. 011 7x and MFP = 4. 211 6x - 0. 034 4 × e 0. 027 6x (x stands for month) . According to the above results,it is concluded that natural months, lactation parity and their interaction significantly influence milk protein percentage and milk fat percentage (P < 0. 001) ,and milk protein percentage and milk fat percentage take on Wood model change characteristics with natural months respectively. This study is intended to explore change regulation of milk composition, and to provide decision reference for properly regulating feeding management and nutrition supply of cattle, and thereby guaranteeing the quality of raw milk in certain month reach sales standard.展开更多

Two districts from midland and lowland agroecology were purposively selected. Moreover, two kebeles were also selected purposively from each district based on dairy cattle population and accessibility. A total of 120 households were selected for survey data collection from the three agroecologies. For the monitoring study, 4 lactating cows in each lactation stage for each rural kebeles as well as for each breed were used. A total of 112 lactating cows were used. The result of the study indicates that the majority (85.8%) of respondents use local breed cow for milk production and the remaining 14.2% of respondents are used cross breed. Average daily milk production was 2.98 litters/day/cow and the average price of one liter milk in the study area at the study period was 23.63 birr. There was a significant difference between the two breeds on the mean age at first calving. Local zebu cow has significantly (P < 0.05) higher mean age at first calving 46.73 ± 0.30 than cross breed cows 31.41 ± 0.53 at the study area. Cross breed cows had significantly shorter (14.44 ± 0.43) months of CI than that of local zebu cow (16.02 ± 0.29). Majority of the respondents ranked feed shortage as the first constraint and also mastitis as the first economically important disease problem.展开更多

Data included 49,709 records of 305-d milk yield collected between 1996 and 2003 from 114 dairy herds. The postulated major gene was assumed to be additive biallelic locus with Mendelian transmission probabilities and priors used for variance components were uniform. Gibbs sampling was used to generate a chain of 500,000 samples, which were used to obtain posterior means of genetic parameters. Estimated marginal posterior means ± posterior standard deviations of variance components of milk yield were 402866.28 ± 23629.97, 271256.66 ± 34477.83, 68276.83 ± 233027.62 and 1098855.75 ± 10009.52 for polygenic variance (σ2u), permanent environmental variance (σ2ne), major gene variance (σ2G) and error variance (σ2e), respectively. The main finding of this paper showed the postulated major locus was not significant, since the 95% highest posterior density regions (HPDs95%) of most major gene parameters included 0, and particularly for the major gene variance. Estimated transmission probabilities for the 95% highest posterior density regions (HPDs95%) were overlapped. Genetic parameters of 305-d milk yield were very similar under both mixed inheritance and polygenic models. These results indicated that the genetic determinism of milk yield in Tunisian Holstein dairy cattle population is purely polygenic. Based on 50,000 Gibbs samples, heritability and repeatability estimates using polygenic model were h2 = 0.22 ± 0.012 and r = 0.38 ± 0.006, respectively.展开更多

Seasons were classified as rainy (May-October) and dry (November-April). The stochastic production frontier model through the Cobb-Douglas specification was used to provide the technical efficiency score and its determinants for the production data of the 2009 rainy season and the 2010 dry season of the DPCS farms from South East El Salvador. The results showed that the mean technical efficiency was 14% higher for the dry season than for the rainy season. Moreover, more farms obtained higher efficiency scores in the dry season. In the rainy season, milk production was attributed to labor and farmland, whereas in the dry season, it was attributed to the decrease of herd size. Therefore, we suggest adopting strategies such as increased cow productivity and improved feed quality to increase the overall technical efficiency of DPCS farms.展开更多

[Method] With 500 local beef cattle as female parents and Fleckvieh cattle as male parents, hybridization improvement was conducted via artificial insemination. The growth performance, slaughter performance, milk performance and milk components of F1 and F2 hybrids were measured. [Result] The birth body weights of F2 were significantly higher than those of local beef cow,but there was no remarkable difference between F1 and local beef cow or F1 and F2. The growth rates of F1 and F2 at different stages were higher than those of local beef cattle. The slaughter performance, such as carcass weight( P < 0. 05),dressing percentage, net meat rate( P < 0. 05),marbling score of F1 and F2 were higher than those of local beef cow. Milk production performance, such as actual milk yield,305 d corrected milk yield and 4% standard milk yield of F2 were signally higher than those of F1 and local beef cattle( P< 0. 05),and F1 was markedly higher than local beef cattle( P < 0. 05). For milk composition, although milk fat percentage, milk protein rate, lactose rate and total solids( TS) of F1 and F2 were slightly lowered compared with local beef cattle at varying degrees, they were still at high levels compared with Holstein cows.[Conclusion]Fleckvieh cattle,as a male parent, can significantly improved growth performance, slaughter performance and milk performance of offsprings. It would also increases the economic efficiency of local beef cattle by higher quality and price,as well as changing production model from beef to dual purpose of beef and milk.展开更多

The results showed that the first-filial generation of Montbeliard had a very significant difference in gestation period from Chinese Holstein cattle ( P 〈0.01). The parity of Fleckvieh s first-filial generation had a very significant effect on 305 d milk yield ( P 〈0.01); and for the first-filial generation of Montbeliard, mating times and open days significantly affected 305 d milk yield ( P 〈0.05), and its total milk yield had a significant difference from Chinese Holstein cattle ( P 〈0.05). Comprehensively, the reproduction traits of Montbeliard s first-filial generation are better than other two varieties.展开更多

The 10 524 test-day records of 568 Chinese Holstein Cattle were obtained from 2 commercial herds in Xi'an region of China during February 2002 to March 2009. Milk yield, fat percentage, fat and protein yield initially increased and then dropped down with parity, whereas protein percentage decreased and SCC increased. Analysis of variance showed highly significant effects of different subclasses SCC on milk yield and composition (P〈 0.01). Compared with milk yield with SCC ≤ 200 000 cells mL-1, milk yield losses with SCC of 200 000-500 000 cells mL-1, 501000-1 000 000 cells mL-1, ≥ 1 000 000 cells mL-1 were 0.387, 0.961 and 2.351 kg, respectively. The highly significant negative correlation coefficient between somatic cell score (SCS) and milk and protein yield, milk yield and fat and protein percentage, protein percentage and fat yield were -0.084, -0.037, -0.061, -0.168, and -0.088, respectively (P〈 0.01). The highly significant positive correlation coefficients between SCS and fat yield and fat and protein percentage, milk yield and fat and protein yield, fat percentage and protein percentage and fat yield, protein yield and protein percentage and fat yield were 0.041, 0.177, 0.105, 0.771, 0.865, 0.122, 0.568, 0.318, and 0.695, respectively (P〈 0.01). There was no significant relationship between fat percentage and protein yield (P 〉 0.05). The results of the present study first time provide the relevant base-line data for assessing milk production at Xi'an region of China.展开更多

Pathogens, cows and farmers (via management) all play a role. It is costly and annoying for the farmer and threatens the image of the entire dairy industry. Prevention and control of mastitis is based on multiple principles that have been known for a long time. To implement them successfully, they should be put forward by a motivated and motivating advisor that transfers the existing knowledge to the farmer. When the changes are data-driven, applied by an encouraged farmer through a farm-specific implementation, prevention and control of mastitis will be successful and result in happy cows, happy farmers, happy advisors, happy consumers, and a happy industry. Nationwide projects focussing on communication and transfer of existing knowledge in prevention and control are very helpful in reaching high numbers of farmers and advisors and harmonizing the message brought by different parties. This paper gives an overview of multifactorial approach of mastitis management and prevention with a focus on milking, bedding and data-analysis.展开更多

At the beginning of the experiment, the cows were 150±25 day in milk (DIM). Total duration of the experiment was six weeks. Measurements were made during the last three weeks. Cows in four treatments were fed with a basal diet (CT) or basal diet supplemented with either whole full fat soybean (WFS), full fat expanded soybean (FPS) or whole full fat soybean with whole cottonseed and full fat expanded soybean (MIX). The composition of the milk fat was analyzed by gas chromatography. Relative to control, the conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) concentration in milk fat from cows on FPS was significantly increased by 83.88% (P〈 0.05). The proportions of C12:0 were decreased by 35.7, 35.51, and 38.65% in milk fat from cows on WFS, MIX, and FPS compared with cows on CT. Similar decreases in C 14:0 were 23.83, 24.85, and 31.48% in WFS, MIX, and FPS treatments, respectively. Feeding vegetable oilseeds increased the proportion of healthy FAs (mainly CLA), whereas decreased the concentratiofi of C12:0 and C14:0. Therefore, milk and dairy products would have higher nutritive and therapeutic value.展开更多

Twenty Holstein cows, with the similar age, parity, lactating month, gestation period, milk quantity and body weight, were randomly divided into two groups. The cows in two groups were fed with either common compound premix as control or 5% biological compound premix as treatment group. Two treatments contained same basal diet but different composi- tions of premix. The feeding experiment lasting 74 days displayed that daily milk quantity in treatment group was significantly higher than control group (P 〈 0.05 ). The milk fat percentage was increased significantly in treatment group with the extended lactation time than control group (P 〈 0.05 ). The milk protein and solids percentage were raised, but no significant difference was found between the two treatments (P 〉0.05 ). The results indicated that 5% biological compound premix supplied in basal diet could facilitate to increase the milk performance and to ameliorate the milk quality of dairy cows.展开更多

The camel milk plays a vital role in the food of the Algerian nomads in the Sahara. During February and September, 20 samples of the raw camel's milk were taken starting from different livestock of camels from three different Sahariennes regions (Bechar, EI-Bayadh and Naama). These 20 collected samples were analyzed by physico-chemical and microbiological methods. The results of physicochemical analyze obtained from two hot and cold seasons are respectively the following: T ~C (35.83 and 33.95), pH (6.36 and 6.49), density (1.031 and 1.032), dornic acidity (18.6 and 18.3 ~D), dry matter (93.4 and 144.8 g/L), fat contents (30 and 52.1 g/L), total protein (26.3 and 33.1 g/L) and ashes (7.46 and 8.66 g/L). The protein profile obtained by electrophoretic analysis (SDS-PAGE) showed that camel milk contains several types of proteins and some have a molecular weight identical to major proteins of the cow's milk. The final results showed that camel milk has generally a comparable composition to that of bovine milk. The microbiological analysis, of these samples, detected a significant number of the total microflora, Staphylococcus aureus and total coliforms. The absence of Clostridium and fecal coliforms was observed. Several species of lactic acid bacteria were detected such as Lactococcus lactis subsp, lactis, Lactococcus lactis subsp, lactis biovar, diacetylactis, Weissella cibaria and Enteroccocusfeacalis.展开更多

This study is intended to explore change regulation of milk composition, and to provide decision reference for properly regulating feeding management and nutrition supply of cattle, and thereby guaranteeing the quality of raw milk in certain month reach sales standard.
文摘The study was conducted in West Hararge Zone Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia with the objective to describing the dairy production and reproduction performance, identifying and prioritizing researchable issues which make an impact on the development of dairy sector, identifying factors influencing dairy production, constraints and opportunities and forwarding suggestions for the development of dairy sector. Majority of the respondents ranked feed shortage as the first constraint and also mastitis as the first economically important disease problem.
文摘The genetic determinism of 305-d milk yield and its genetic parameters were investigated in Tunisian Holstein dairy cattle population through Bayesian segregation analyses using a Monte Carlo Markov Chains (MCMC) method. Based on 50,000 Gibbs samples, heritability and repeatability estimates using polygenic model were h2 = 0.22 ± 0.012 and r = 0.38 ± 0.006, respectively.
文摘The objective of this research was to calculate the technical efficiency and its determinants in seasonal milk production of dual-purpose cattle system farms of El Salvador (DPCS). Therefore, we suggest adopting strategies such as increased cow productivity and improved feed quality to increase the overall technical efficiency of DPCS farms.
文摘The study aimed to research the forage value of Pennisetum purpureum Schum cv.Guiminyin in dairy industry and then provide scientific support for feeding jersey cattle with P.purpureum Schum cv.Guiminyin.Totally 20 jersey cattle at lactation stage were selected and divided into two groups randomly,10 cattle each group. The cattle were fed with P.purpureum Schum cv.Guiminyin and P.purpureum cv.Mott×(P.americanum×P.purureum)cv.Guimu No.1,respectively.The results showed that P.purpureum Schum cv.Guiminyin performed well in both nutritional value and palatability, and received remarkable effects on jersey cattle. The milk yield was 5.4%higher than that of before test, and the average daily milk yield was(11.65±0.07)kg/cattle.Compared with control group, milk fat percentage, lactoprotein content and overall milk-solid content were improved somewhat.Feeding jersey cattle with P.purpureum Schum cv.Guiminyin at lactation stage could increase their milk yield and milk quality.

文摘Milk fat globule membrane(MFGM),which contains abundant glycoproteins and phospholipids, exerts beneficial effects on intestinal health and immunomodulation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the protective effects and possible underlying mechanisms of MFGM on cow’s milk allergy(CMA)in aβ-lactoglobulin(BLG)-induced allergic mice model.MFGM was supplemented to allergic mice induced by BLG at a dose of 400 mg/kg body weight. Results demonstrated that MFGM alleviated food allergy symptoms, decreased serum levels of lipopolysaccharide,pro-inflammatory cytokines, immunoglobulin(Ig)E,Ig G1,and Th2 cytokines including interleukin(IL)-4,while increased serum levels of Th1 cytokines including interferon-γand regulatory T cells(Tregs)cytokines including IL-10 and transforming growth factor-β.MFGM modulated gut microbiota and enhanced intestinal barrier of BLG-allergic mice,as evidenced by decreased relative abundance of Desulfobacterota,Rikenellaceae,Lachnospiraceae, and Desulfovibrionaceae, while increased relative abundance of Bacteroidetes,Lactobacillaceae and Muribaculaceae, and enhanced expressions of tight junction proteins including Occludin,Claudin-1 and zonula occludens-1.Furthermore,MFGM increased fecal short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)levels, which elevated G protein-coupled receptor(GPR)43 and GPR109A expressions. The increased expressions of GPR43 and GPR109A induced CD103+dendritic cells accumulation and promoted Tregs differentiation in mesenteric lymph node to a certain extent. In summary,MFGM alleviated CMA in a BLG-induced allergic mice model through enhancing intestinal barrier and promoting Tregs differentiation, which may be correlated with SCFAs-mediated activation of GPRs.These findings suggest that MFGM may be useful as a promising functional ingredient against CMA.

文摘Over the last 100 years, significant advances have been made in the characterisation of milk composition for dairy cattle improvement programs.Technological progress has enabled a shift from labour intensive,on-farm collection and processing of samples that assess yield and fat levels in milk,to large-scale processing of samples through centralised laboratories, with the scope extended to include quantification of other traits.Fourier-transform midinfrared(FT-MIR)spectroscopy has had a significant role in the transformation of milk composition phenotyping, with spectral-based predictions of major milk components already being widely used in milk payment and animal evaluation systems globally.Increasingly, there is interest in analysing the individual FT-MIR wavenumbers, and in utilising the FT-MIR data to predict other novel traits of importance to breeding programs. This includes traits related to the nutritional value of milk, the processability of milk into products such as cheese, and traits relevant to animal health and the environment. The ability to successfully incorporate these traits into breeding programs is dependent on the heritability of the FT-MIR predicted traits, and the genetic correlations between the FT-MIR predicted and actual trait values.Linking FT-MIR predicted traits to the underlying mutations responsible for their variation can be difficult because the phenotypic expression of these traits are a function of a diverse range of molecular and biological mechanisms that can obscure their genetic basis. The individual FT-MIR wavenumbers give insights into the chemical composition of milk and provide an additional layer of granularity that may assist with establishing causal links between the genome and observed phenotypes.Additionally, there are other molecular phenotypes such as those related to the metabolome, chromatin accessibility, and RNA editing that could improve our understanding of the underlying biological systems controlling traits of interest. Here we review topics of importance to phenotyping and genetic applications of FT-MIR spectra datasets, and discuss opportunities for consolidating FT-MIR datasets with other genomic and molecular data sources to improve future dairy cattle breeding programs.
文摘BACKGROUND Preterm birth is the leading cause of mortality in newborns, with very-low-birthweight infants usually experiencing several complications.Breast milk is considered the gold standard of nutrition, especially for preterm infants with delayed gut colonization, because it contains beneficial microorganisms, such as Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria.AIM To analyze the gut microbiota of breastfed preterm infants with a birth weight of 1500 g or less.METHODS An observational study was performed on preterm infants with up to 36.6 wk of gestation and a birth weight of 1500 g or less, born at the University Hospital Dr.JoséEleuterio González at Monterrey,Mexico.A total of 40 preterm neonates were classified into breast milk feeding(BM)and mixed feeding(MF)groups(21 in the BM group and 19 in the MF group),from October 2017 to June 2019.Fecal samples were collected before they were introduced to any feeding type. After full enteral feeding was achieved, the composition of the gut microbiota was analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing.Numerical variables were compared using Student’s t-test or using the Mann–Whitney U test for nonparametric variables.Dominance, evenness, equitability,Margalef’s index,Fisher’s alpha,Chao-1 index, and Shannon’s diversity index were also calculated.RESULTS No significant differences were observed at the genus level between the groups.Class comparison indicated higher counts of Alphaproteobacteria and Betaproteobacteria in the initial compared to the final sample of the BM group(P<0.011).In addition, higher counts of Gammaproteobacteria were detected in the final than in the initial sample(P=0.040).According to the Margalef index,Fisher’s alpha, and Chao-1 index,a decrease in species richness from the initial to the final sample, regardless of the feeding type, was observed(P<0.050).The four predominant phyla were Bacteroidetes,Actinobacteria,Firmicutes, and Proteobacteria, with Proteobacteria being the most abundant. However,no significant differences were observed between the initial and final samples at the phylum level.CONCLUSION Breastfeeding is associated with a decrease in Alphaproteobacteria and Betaproteobacteria and an increase of Gammaproteobacteria, contributing to the literature of the gut microbiota structure of very low-birth-weight,preterm.

文摘[Objective] The paper aimed to study the improved effect of local beef cattle with Fleckvieh cattle and provide theoretical basic data for local cattle industry in central plain agricultural area in China. It would also increases the economic efficiency of local beef cattle by higher quality and price,as well as changing production model from beef to dual purpose of beef and milk.

文摘In order to overcome the problems such as decline in adaptability, low fertility and few utilization years due to continuously increasing coefficient of inbreeding of Chinese Holstein cattle, three dairy-beef dual-purpose cattle varieties (purebred Simmental, Montbeliard and Fleckvieh) were introduced as the male parents to be hybridized with Chinese Holstein cattle, so as to study the improvement effect in the reproduction performance and milk production performance of the hybrid cattle. Comprehensively, the reproduction traits of Montbeliard s first-filial generation are better than other two varieties.

文摘The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship of somatic cell count (SCC) with milk yield, fat and protein percentage, fat and protein yield using analysis of variance and correlation analysis in Chinese Holstein population. The results of the present study first time provide the relevant base-line data for assessing milk production at Xi'an region of China.
文摘Mastitis is a complex, multifactorial disease. This paper gives an overview of multifactorial approach of mastitis management and prevention with a focus on milking, bedding and data-analysis.
文摘To determine the effect of dietary supplementation with vegetable oilseeds on the composition of bovine milk fatty acids (FAs), 40 Holstein dairy cows were used with a complete randomized design. Therefore, milk and dairy products would have higher nutritive and therapeutic value.

文摘This study was to investigate the effect of biological compound premix on the performance and milk quality in dairy cows. The results indicated that 5% biological compound premix supplied in basal diet could facilitate to increase the milk performance and to ameliorate the milk quality of dairy cows.

文摘Objective To investigate relations between milk consumption and lactose intolerance (LI) in adults and to explore the effect of milk consumption on lactase activity. Methods Total of 182 subjects aged 20‐70 years were recruited and interviewed by questionnaires, and their accumulative cow's milk intake (AMI) was calculated.LI was evaluated by hydrogen breath test (HBT).Results A negative correlation was found between AMI and severity of observed LI symptom (r=-0.2884;P0.05).Binary logistic regression analysis showed a negative correlation between LI and duration and frequency of milk consumption (OR,0.317 and 0.465,respectively;both P0.05) and a positive correlation between LI and amount of milk consumed per sitting (OR,6.337;P0.05).Conclusion LI is related to various milk consumption behaviors. Most Chinese adults with LI may tolerate moderate milk consumption 160 mL.
文摘The dromedary camel (Camelus dromedarius) is a significant socioeconomic importance in several arid and semi-arid regions of North Africa and Middle East, and its milk constitutes an important component of human diets in these regions. Several species of lactic acid bacteria were detected such as Lactococcus lactis subsp, lactis, Lactococcus lactis subsp, lactis biovar, diacetylactis, Weissella cibaria and Enteroccocusfeacalis.
文摘Milk is related to many gastrointestinal disorders from the cradle to the grave due to the many milk ingredients that can trigger gastrointestinal discomfort and disorders.Cow’s milk protein allergy(CMPA)is the most common food allergy, especially in infancy and childhood, which may persist into adulthood. There are three main types of CMPA;immunoglobulin E(IgE)-mediated CMPA,non-IgEmediated CMPA,and mixed type.CMPA appears before the first birthday in almost all cases.Symptoms may start even during the neonatal period and can be severe enough to simulate neonatal sepsis.CMPA(often non-IgE mediated)can present with symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux, eosinophilic esophagitis, hemorrhagic gastritis, food protein-induced protein-losing enteropathy, and food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome. Most CMPAs are benign and outgrown during childhood.CMPA is not as common in adults as in children, but when present,it is usually severe with a protracted course.Lactose intolerance is a prevalent condition characterized by the development of many symptoms related to the consumption of foods containing lactose.Lactose intolerance has four typical types:Developmental, congenital, primary, and secondary.Lactose intolerance and CMPA may be the underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms for many functional gastrointestinal disorders in children and adults. They are also common in inflammatory bowel diseases.Milk consumption may have preventive or promoter effects on cancer development.Milk may also become a source of microbial infection in humans, causing a wide array of diseases, and may help increase the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance. This editorial summarizes the common milk-related disorders and their symptoms from childhood to adulthood.
