High-precision RTK GPS technology was used to survey the movements of typical coastal dunes, including a coastal crescent dune and a coastal transverse ridge, in the Feicuidao region of the Changli Gold Coast in Hebei...High-precision RTK GPS technology was used to survey the movements of typical coastal dunes, including a coastal crescent dune and a coastal transverse ridge, in the Feicuidao region of the Changli Gold Coast in Hebei Province in 2006-2008. Our data provide information on the direction, type, and velocity of coastal dune movements, and indicate that the coastal dunes in this re- gion are characterized as slow and landward advancing, with to-and-fro fluctuations. The bottom of the studied coastal transverse ridge was stable during the observation period but the position of its crest advanced eastward (seaward) during summer and au- tumn, and moved landward (westward) in winter and spring. Thus, its crest moved generally landward (westward) but fluctuated to-and-fro eastward and westward. In contrast, the entire coastal crescent dune advanced landward (westward) in a to-and-fro manner, and the velocity of its movement was faster than that of the transverse ridge dune. These results are mainly related to the wind conditions in the research area, the height and volume of the two types of coastal dunes.展开更多
Macrobenthic communities in the surrounding waters of Changli were investigated during spring and summer in2016.Differences in species quantity,abundance and biomass,the dominant species and species diversity index of...Macrobenthic communities in the surrounding waters of Changli were investigated during spring and summer in2016.Differences in species quantity,abundance and biomass,the dominant species and species diversity index of macrobenthos were analyzed.The results showed that58macrobenthos species were identified in spring,and92macrobenthos species were identified in summer.The composition of dominant species seasonally varied;however,most of them were species belonging to Polychaeta.The abundance of macrobenthos in summer was slightly higher than that in spring,while the biomass in summer was significantly smaller than that in spring.Bray-Curtis cluster analysis and multi-dimentional scaling(MDS)analysis indicated that macrobenthic communities were divided into three communities in spring,and two in summer.The abundance-biomass comparison(ABC)curve method was used to monitor the disturbance of environmental pollution for macrobenthic community.The results showed that the macrobenthos in this area received serious disturbance from environmental pollution.展开更多

One of the major characteristics about the water resources and water pollution in China is that the southem part of the country is endowed with abundant water resources with serious water pollution occurring in some a...One of the major characteristics about the water resources and water pollution in China is that the southem part of the country is endowed with abundant water resources with serious water pollution occurring in some areas, whereas the northem part is endowed with limited water resources with relatively more serious water pollution existing in some areas. Urban areas have been mainiy affected by point source pollution while ecological damage is most serious in rural areas and small towns. With rapid development of socio-ecomony and urbanization, many new small towns have occurred in China, and the concemed ecological problems such as water pollution and soil erosion have been gradually changed into local point source pollution. Water envirormental problems are geding more and more serious. To resolve the above mentioned problems and to provide a mode for towns in North China, the Research Center of Water Problems of Chinese Academy of Sciences undertook the research project of comprehensive planning of urban environment of Changli County, Hebei Province. Conceming the limited financial strength of the county and its relatively low level of socio-economic development, the planning is aimed to protect and to improve Changli's environment with the least cost, to promote the suitable development of socio-economy of Changli County, and to carry out effective environmental regulations, control and managemeat.展开更多
