The refrigerant mixture of ethanol aqueous was applied to the parallel type pulsating heat pipe (PHP). The operation characteristics of the PHP were analyzed by means of experiment and nonlinear chaotic theory. Moreover, the relationship between the running state and attractor was described. The results indicate that starting power, stable running power and dry burning transition power are about 64.08 W, 148.68 W and 234.0 W respectively. The cycle and amplitude of PHP initially decrease and then increase with the increasing power. However, the data are welldistributed in a certain range. The running state is in agreement with the attractors, and the changing process for attractors is as follows: the attractors first disperse in the whole phase space, then present mass status, and finally show band distribution. 展开更多

The gauged river data play an important role in modeling, planning and management of the river basins. Among the hydrological data, the daily discharge data seem to be more significant for determining the amount of energy production and the control the risks of floods and drought. Hence, the data need correct measurement, analysis, and reliable estimates. The purpose of the paper is to investigate the question whether all the stations in a river basin exhibit chaotic behavior. For this purpose, the daily discharge data of four gauge stations are examined by using three nonlinear data analysis methods: 1) phase space reconstruction;2) correlation dimension;and 3) local approximation where all those methods provide identification of chaotic behaviors. The results show that all stations exhibit chaotic character. Taking into account the proven chaotic characteristic of the stations, local approximation method is applied to observe the prediction accuracy. Considering the fact that global warming is a serious threat on natural resources, the prediction accuracy is becoming a key factor to ensure sustainability. Hence, this study is a good example on the implementation of chaotic analysis by means of the obtained results from the methods. 展开更多

Then, DLEs are used to analyze the eigenstructure of the output phase space around the equilibrium points. Finally, the impacts of the superlattice parameter changes on the characteristics of the output chaotic signal are analyzed. The experimental results show that parameter changes of the superlattice will affect the eigenstructure around the equilibrium points in the output phase space, and DLEs are sensitive to these changes. 展开更多

GP is used here to search for appropriate model structures in function space, and the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is used for Nonlinear Parameter Estimation (NPE) of dynamic model structures. In addition, GPM integrates the results of Nonlinear Time Series Analysis (NTSA) to adjust the parameters and takes them as the criteria of established models. The chaotic scale-up approach by matching the Kolmogorov entropy(E_K) proposed by Schouten et al.(1996) was assessed in two geometrically similar gas–solid fluidized bed columns of 0.14 and 0.44 m diameter.We used four conditions of our validated new mechanistic scale-up method based on matching the radial profiles of gas holdup where the local dimensionless hydrodynamic parameters were similar as measured by advanced measurement techniques.These experimental conditions were used to evaluate the validity of the chaotic scale-up method,which were selected based on our new mechanistic scale-up methodology.Pressure gauge transducer measurements at the wall and inside the bed at various local radial locations and at three axial heights were used to estimate KE.It was found that the experimental conditions with similar or close radial profiles of the Kolmogorov entropy and with similar or close radial profiles of the gas holdup achieve the similarity in local dimensionless hydrodynamic parameters,and vice versa. 展开更多
