How can technology and efficiency alleviate the dilemma of economic growth and carbon emissions in China's industrial economy? A metafrontier decoupling decomposition analysis

This paper attempts to explore the decoupling relationship and its drivers between industrial economic increase and energy-related CO_(2) emissions(ICE). Firstly, the decoupling relationship was evaluated by Tapio index. Then, based on the DEA meta-frontier theory framework which taking into account the regional and industrial heterogeneity and index decomposition method, the driving factors of decoupling process were explored mainly from the view of technology and efficiency. The results show that during2000-2019, weak decoupling was the primary state. Investment scale expansion was the largest reason hindering decoupling process of industrial increase from ICE. Both energy saving and production technology achieved significant progress, which facilitated the decoupling process. Simultaneously, the energy technology gap and production technology gap among regions have been narrowed, and played a role in promoting decoupling process. On the contrary, both scale economy efficiency and pure technical efficiency have inhibiting effects on decoupling process. The former indicates that the scale economy of China's industry was not conducive to improve energy efficiency and production efficiency, while the latter indicates that resource misallocation problem may exist in both energy market and product market. 展开更多

Some QC experts attribute catastrophic risks that unrestr... Quantum Computing (QC) is hailed as the future of computers. After Google’s claim of achieving Quantum Supremacy in 2019, several groups challenged the claim. Some QC experts attribute catastrophic risks that unrestrained QC may cause in the future by collapsing the current cryptographic cybersecurity infrastructure. These predictions are relevant only if QC becomes commercially viable and sustainable in the future. No technology can be a one-way ticket to catastrophe, and neither can the definition of superiority of that technology be. If there are catastrophic risks, large-scale QC can never enter the public domain as a minimum viable product (MVP) unless there are safeguards in place. Those safeguards should obviously become an integral part of the definition of its superiority over the legacy systems. NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology) is pursuing the standardization of Post Quantum Cryptography (PQC) as that safeguard. However, with all the 82 candidate PQCs failing and companies already offering QC as a service, there’s an urgent need for an alternate strategy to mitigate the impending Q-Day threat and render QC sustainable. Our research proposes a novel encryption-agnostic cybersecurity approach to safeguard QC. It articulates a comprehensive definition of an MVP that can potentially set a sustainable gold standard for defining commercially viable quantum advantage over classical computing. 展开更多

Increased human activities in China's coastal zone have resulted in the depletion of ecological land resources.Thus,conducting current and future multi-scenario simulation research on land use and land cover change(LUCC)is crucial for guiding the healthy and sustainable development of coastal zones.System dynamic(SD)-future land use simulation(FLUS)model,a coupled simulation model,was developed to analyze land use dynamics in China's coastal zone.This model encompasses five scenarios,namely,SSP1-RCP2.6(A),SSP2-RCP4.5(B),SSP3-RCP4.5(C),SSP4-RCP4.5(D),and SSP5-RCP8.5(E).The SD model simulates land use demand on an annual basis up to the year 2100.Subsequently,the FLUS model determines the spatial distribution of land use for the near term(2035),medium term(2050),and long term(2100).Results reveal a slowing trend in land use changes in China's coastal zone from 2000–2020.Among these changes,the expansion rate of construction land was the highest and exhibited an annual decrease.By 2100,land use predictions exhibit high accuracy,and notable differences are observed in trends across scenarios.In summary,the expansion of production,living,and ecological spaces toward the sea remains prominent.Scenario A emphasizes reduced land resource dependence,benefiting ecological land protection.Scenario B witnesses an intensified expansion of artificial wetlands.Scenario C sees substantial land needs for living and production,while Scenario D shows coastal forest and grassland shrinkage.Lastly,in Scenario E,the conflict between humans and land intensifies.This study presents pertinent recommendations for the future development,utilization,and management of coastal areas in China.The research contributes valuable scientific support for informed,long-term strategic decision making within coastal regions. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Pulse oximetry has become a cornerstone technology in healthcare,providing non-invasive monitoring of oxygen saturation levels and pulse rate.Despite its widespread use,the technology has inherent limitations and challenges that must be addressed to ensure accurate and reliable patient care.AIM To comprehensively evaluate the advantages,limitations,and challenges of pulse oximetry in clinical practice,as well as to propose recommendations for optimizing its use.METHODS A systematic literature review was conducted to identify studies related to pulse oximetry and its applications in various clinical settings.Relevant articles were selected based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria,and data were synthesized to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic.RESULTS Pulse oximetry offers numerous advantages,including non-invasiveness,real-time feedback,portability,and costeffectiveness.However,several limitations and challenges were identified,including motion artifacts,poor peripheral perfusion,ambient light interference,and patient-specific factors such as skin pigmentation and hemoglobin variants.Recommendations for optimizing pulse oximetry use include technological advancements,education and training initiatives,quality assurance protocols,and interdisciplinary collaboration.CONCLUSION Pulse oximetry is crucial in modern healthcare,offering invaluable insights into patients’oxygenation status.Despite its limitations,pulse oximetry remains an indispensable tool for monitoring patients in diverse clinical settings.By implementing the recommendations outlined in this review,healthcare providers can enhance the effectiveness,accessibility,and safety of pulse oximetry monitoring,ultimately improving patient outcomes and quality of care. 展开更多

Objective:To evaluate the clinical advantages of laparoscopic transverse abdominal wall suspension in treating pelvic organ prolapse.Methods:Sixty patients diagnosed with moderate to severe pelvic organ prolapse and underwent surgical treatment in our hospital between January 2022 and December 2023 were selected.According to different surgical methods,they were divided into an observation group(given laparoscopic transverse abdominal wall suspension)and a control group(given transvaginal mesh implantation),with 30 subjects/group.The data on perioperative-related indicators,quality of life scores,postoperative recurrence,and complications of the two groups of patients were collected.Results:The postoperative hospitalization days and intraoperative bleeding volume of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group,but had longer operation time than that of the control group(P<0.05).The differences between the two groups were statistically significant 6 months after surgery,and the Pelvic Floor Disease Quality of Life Impact Questionnaire(PFIQ-7)score of the observation group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05).Both groups of patients completed 12 months of follow-up without any postoperative recurrence.The number of complications in the observation group was slightly lower than that of the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion:Laparoscopic transverse abdominal wall suspension was more effective in treating pelvic organ prolapse and is an ideal surgical procedure. 展开更多

Sea area is an important area of oil and gas exploration in China.It has been found that China's sea area mainly consists of coal type oil and gas,and the exploration of coal-bearing series source rocks has become an important part of oil and gas exploration there.Through years of comprehensive geological research in China's sea area,it has been revealed that it has undergone multiple occurrences of tectonic opening and closing movements in varying degrees in the Paleogene,forming 26 Cenozoic sedimentary basins of various types,such as active continental margin,passive continental margin,transitional continental margin and drift rift basins.In the present study,it is observed for the first time that coal type source rocks are mainly developed in 14 continental margin basins in China's sea area,revealing that a very large C-shaped coal-bearing basin group developed there in the Cenozoic.Next,based on the coupling analysis of paleoclimate,paleobotany,paleogeography and paleostructure,it is observed that there are five coal-forming periods in China's sea area,namely the Paleocene,Eocene,early Oligocene,late Oligocene and Miocene-Pliocene,and the coal-forming age is gradually new from north to south.It is also found that the coal seams in the sea area are mainly developed in three coal-forming environments in Cenozoic,namely delta,fan delta and tidal flat-lagoon.The coal seams developed in different environments are characterized by thin thickness,many layers and poor stability.However,the coal-bearing series source rocks in China's sea area have a wide distribution range,very high thickness and large amount,thus forming a material basis for the formation of rich coal type oil and gas. 展开更多

In response to the high cost and difficulty of high-speed development and testing data in offshore oil fields, this paper proposes to use the most easily available production performance data as the basis and use the grey correlation method to calculate the correlation coefficient between oil and water wells to characterize the degree of development of advantageous channels. The consistency between the calculated results of this method and the tracer test results is over 80%. Based on the fitting results, the correlation coefficient exceeds 0.74 to determine the existence of an advantageous channel. According to the research results of grey correlation method, Bohai K oilfield has completed the combined profile control and flooding measures, and the daily oil production has increased by 20 m3</sup>/d. This method is simple, fast, and can achieve quantitative evaluation, which saves time and investment compared to offshore testing. It has strong application and reference value for the development of other offshore water injection oilfields. 展开更多

As important supplementary to major edible oils, comparative chemical advantages of minor edible oils decidetheir development and usage. In this study, chemical composition of 13 kinds of specific edible vegetable oilswere investigated. The comparative advantages of chemical compositions of these edible oils were obtained asfollows: (1) camellia, tiger nut and almond oil were rich in oleic acid, the contents of which accounted for79.43%, 69.16% and 66.26%, respectively;(2) safflower oil contained the highest content of linoleic acid(76.69%), followed by grape seed (66.85%) and walnut oil (57.30%);(3) perilla seed, siritch, peony seed andherbaceous peony seed oil were rich in α-linolenic acid (59.61%, 43.74%, 40.83% and 30.84%, respectively);(4)the total phytosterol contents of these oils ranged from 91.46 mg/100 g (camellia oil) to 506.46 mg/100 g (siritchoil);and (5) The best source of tocopherols was sacha inchi oil (122.74 mg/100 g), followed by perilla seed oil(55.89 mg/100 g), peony seed oil (53.73 mg/100 g) and herbaceous peony seed oil (47.17 mg/100 g). Based on heterogeneity in firm's sales destinations and trade patterns, this paper estimates China's ratio of value-added exports(RVAE) using value-added trade accounting, and discusses the evolution of China's comparative advantages from the perspective of value-added trade. Our research findings suggest that without taking into account heterogeneity in firm's sales destinations and trade patterns,China's RVAE will be overestimated. Conventional gross trade accounting underestimates the export competitiveness of China's labor-intensive and capital intensive sectors, but overestimates the export competitiveness of China's technology-intensive sectors,which leads to a significant reversal of comparative advantages. Conventional gross trade accounting method overestimates the trade surplus of China's manufacturing and technology-intensive sectors with the US by about 60% and 85% respectively. 展开更多

农村土地制度是国家的基础性制度,其变革关系到资源配置、百姓福祉和社会稳定,中国式现代化的发展离不开农村土地制度的支持与保障。回顾中国式现代化发展历程,农村土地制度这一根本性、基础性生产关系的变革与调适,对不同阶段主要发展... 农村土地制度是国家的基础性制度,其变革关系到资源配置、百姓福祉和社会稳定,中国式现代化的发展离不开农村土地制度的支持与保障。回顾中国式现代化发展历程,农村土地制度这一根本性、基础性生产关系的变革与调适,对不同阶段主要发展任务的完成起到了至关重要的作用。在中国式现代化视域下农村土地制度具有五大独特优势,分别是能够在人口规模巨大条件下保障我国的粮食安全和社会稳定,能够以释放土地财产收益为抓手夯实全体农民共同富裕的物质基础,能够以赓续农耕文明、改善乡村公共文化服务为载体支持农村精神文明建设,能够以退耕还林还草还湖工程、发展生态农业、防治耕地污染、农村人居环境整治为路径促进人与自然和谐共生,能够以支撑内生型发展模式为手段保证我国走和平发展道路。面对当前农村土地制度的发展困境,需要进一步深化农村土地制度改革,着力加强农村土地的粮食安全保障、财产性收益提升、精神文明和生态文明建设、社会秩序稳定功能。 展开更多

甘肃西秦岭矿床成矿系列及其量化评价

本文以中国矿产地质志项目规定的矿种为基本因素,厘定甘肃西秦岭矿床成矿系列及其各种归并形式,并通过量化评价结果反映其找矿意义。基于39种既有矿产的分布特征,按照矿床成矿系列厘定原则,在甘肃西秦岭厘定了21个矿床成矿系列和84个矿... 本文以中国矿产地质志项目规定的矿种为基本因素,厘定甘肃西秦岭矿床成矿系列及其各种归并形式,并通过量化评价结果反映其找矿意义。基于39种既有矿产的分布特征,按照矿床成矿系列厘定原则,在甘肃西秦岭厘定了21个矿床成矿系列和84个矿床式。根据矿床成矿系列对应的成矿作用、成矿地质环境和构造旋回,将该区域的矿床成矿系列归并为5个矿床成矿系列组合、12个矿床成矿系列类型和4个矿床成矿系列组;针对华力西—燕山期构造旋回中存在构造亚旋回的特点,在其中划分出了矿床成矿系列亚组;探讨了矿床成矿系列在构造旋回中的演化规律。提出了资源当量和当量密度概念,结合其他成矿广度指数和成矿强度指数,有效地进行了矿床成矿系列及其3种归并形式的量化评价。结果表明:矿床成矿系列的成矿多样性与中酸性岩浆活动强度正相关;优势矿床成矿系列是中秦岭华力西—印支期岩浆相关矿床成矿系列、中秦岭晚古生代沉积矿床成矿系列、中秦岭华力西—印支期含矿流体矿床成矿系列、南秦岭印支—燕山期岩浆相关矿床成矿系列、南秦岭古生代—三叠纪沉积矿床成矿系列和南秦岭华力西—印支期含矿流体矿床成矿系列;优势矿床成矿系列类型是前陆盆地叠加后碰撞矿床成矿系列类型和岩浆弧叠加后碰撞矿床成矿系列类型。 展开更多
