[Methods] The active substances of Huoshan large-leaf yellow tea were extracted by hot-water extraction, and the freeze-dried powder of Huoshan large-leaf yellow tea was obtained by freeze drying. The antibacterial activity of the extract was preliminarily confirmed using the Oxford cup method, and its antimicrobial spectrum was analyzed using 14 strains. A xylene-induced mouse auricle swelling test was carried out to detect the swelling inhibition rate of the extract and analyze its in-vitro detumescent activity. Then, the antioxidant activity of the extract was identified through a DPPH free radical scavenging capacity test and a ferric reducing antioxidant power assay. [Results] The extract had significant inhibitory effects on various bacteria. The extract could effectively inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus hirae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis , and other strains. The diameter of the inhibition zone increased with the increase of sample concentration. The extract had a significant inhibitory effect on auricle swelling induced by xylene in mice. When the concentration of the drug reached 1.0 mg/mL, its inhibition rate on mouse auricle swelling reached 55.2% ( P <0.01), slightly lower than the swelling inhibition rate of the aspirin group (66.52%, P <0.01). The results of the antioxidant test showed that large-leaf yellow tea extract also had strong activity. Within the concentration range of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL, its DPPH radical scavenging rate increased with the increase of sample concentration. Within the concentration range of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL, its DPPH radical scavenging rate increased with the increase of sample concentration. When the concentration reached 1.0 mg/mL, the scavenging rate reached 69.75%. The Fe 3+ -reduction capacity of the extract also increased with the increase of sample concentration within the concentration range of 0.1-2.5 mg/mL. When the concentration was 2.5 mg/mL, the reducing power of the extract reached 1.43±0.04. However, its DPPH free radical scavenging rate and reducing power were slightly lower than the capacity of V C at the same concentration. [Conclusions] The extract of Huoshan large-leaf yellow tea obtained by hot-water extraction had strong activity in many aspects, including inhibiting the growth of various microbes, subsiding swelling in vitro and resisting oxidation. These experimental results provide certain guiding significance for the basic research of Huoshan large-leaf yellow tea extract, as well as experimental data support for the subsequent development of functional foods and drugs of Huoshan large-leaf yellow tea.展开更多

To explore effective ways to maintain the postharvest quality of Chinese chive, the effect of exogenous application of 6-benzylaminopurine(6-BA) on postharvest quality and antioxidant activity of chive was evaluated, and the mechanism of the physiological responses of chive to 6-BA treatment was explored. Chives were sprayed for 10 min with 100, 300, or 500 mg L–1 6-BA or with alkaline solution as the control, then stored at(2±1)°C with a relative humidity(RH) of 80–85%. We found that 300 mg L–1 6-BA significantly delayed yellowing and chlorophyll degradation, maintained the total phenolic and flavonoid content, and improved the activities of antioxidant enzymes, including superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT) and peroxidase(POD). In conclusion, we identified exogenous application of 6-BA as an effective method for maintaining postharvest quality of Chinese chive. In addition, our finding that the activities of antioxidant enzymes increase in response to exogenous 6-BA provides new insights into the mechanism of cytokinin-based postharvest fresh-keeping.展开更多

Except for the negative control group, all the animals were intubated with A'-nitrosomethyibenzylamine (NMBzA, 5 mg/kg body wt/week). Half of the animals in each group were sacrificed after 6 weeks and the remaining animals at the end of 12 weeks. The incidences of esophageal mucosa lesions (16-59%) at the end of6 weeks were significantly lower in the tea-treated rats than in the positive control group (100%). The incidences of esophageal tumor at the end of 12 weeks (42-67%) were also significantly lower in the tea-treated groups than in the positive control group (90%). The same phenomenon was found with respect to the size and number of tumors in each tumor-bearing animal. The relative anticarcinogenic effects of the five varieties of Chinese tea were different. The Fujian oolong tea and jasmine tea exhibited the strongest effects. The results suggest that Chinese tea can effectively inhibit the carcinogenesis Caused by an N-nitroso compound. 1990 Academic Press.Inc.展开更多

Treatments were control (no CHM supplementation) and three formulations of CHM (CHM-A, CHM-B and CHM-C) that were arranged as completely randomized design. The calves were fed in indoor individual feeding barn with total mixed ration for 90 d. The CHM-A, CHM-B, and CHM-C was incorporated into the diet at the level of 20 g kg-1 DM (dry matter) of concentrate. The cattle were weighted at the beginning, at the end and every 15 d between to determine growth rate. Blood sample was taken every 30 d to analyze activities of total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA). The cattle were slaughtered at the end of experiment and chymus samples from various section of the post-ruminal digestive tract were collected to analyze enzymes activities. All cattle had similar average daily gain, but cattle supplemented with CHM-A tended faster growth (P=0.08) compared to the control and other CHM treatments. Supplementation of CHM did not affect pH of chymus in any section of the post-ruminal digestive tract. Activities of pepsin, trypsin, chymotrypsin, and lipase in chymus samples were enhanced (P0.05) to various extents by supplementation of CHM-A, CHM-B, and CHM-C depending on the enzymes and the site of the digestive tract. Amylase activity was increased only by CHM-A and CHM-C from chymus sample collected at the ileum. Supplementation of CHM-A and CHM-B reduced (P0.05) concentration of MDA, but did not affect GSH-PX activity in the serum of cattle throughout the entire experimental period. Cattle supplemented with CHM-B also had higher (P0.05) T-SOD activity in the serum at day 30 and 60 as compared with the control and the other two CHM treatments. Chinese herbal mixtures supplemented at the levels of 20 g kg-1 DM of concentrate increased post-ruminal digestive enzymes activity and enhanced serum antioxidant status. Inclusion of CHM-A and CHM-B in the diet may be favourable for ruminant production.展开更多

In addition, the antioxidant activity was assessed by the CUPRAC method and the free-radical scavenging activity was determined using the antioxidant-promoting decay of the stable free-radical DPPH. Caffeine and the most important catechins were identified using RP-HPLC previously validated method. Results from this study suggest that teas, even though they content similar amounts of caffeine, differ considerably in polyphenolic content and therefore in antioxidant and free-radical scavenging activities, depending on the part of the plant used and the process applied to the material for the preparation of the final tea presentation. Correlations among Folin-Ciocalteau’s reactivity of tea samples, the neocuproine reactivity, the DPPH decolourization and the HPLC analysis suggest that the antioxidant activity is due essentially to polyphenolic compounds present in teas, mainly EGCG. The best extraction method of tea powder was the one indicated by dealers. In general, the richest samples belong to green teas and the poorest samples belong to the black teas.展开更多

1990 Academic Press.Inc.
文摘In cases of measurement, like the beverage discrimination or waste water monitoring, since sensors with direct measuring for specific variables cannot be practically applied, the interest in soft sensor technology, which is based on the acquisition and analysis for a lot of information variables, has rapidly increased. This article presents a novel soft sensor which activates a voltage signal between two specially-designed electrodes, inside the Chinese tea solution, and measures the produced current. The proposed sensor discriminated four different kinds of tea,and the dissolution processes of two of them are described as curves on a bidimensional plane. The results indicate that the proposed approach can also be adapted in characterization or discrimination for other solutions.

文摘China has traditional tea and ceramics cultures. They supplement each other. In a certain historical period, tea promoted the development of ceramic. The purple earthenware is a kind of ceramic. The development of this kind of teapot was closely related with Chinese tea. In ancient China, the tea was boiled instead of being infused, as at present. At that time, most of the tea was in compressed form, not in bulk form, so no particular tea utensil was necessary. Since the Ming dynasty (1368-1644), the

文摘Sixteen Limousin×Luxi crossbred beef cattle [(199.4±8.67) kg] were used to evaluate the effects of Chinese herbal mixtures (CHM) on growth, activities of post-ruminal digestive enzymes and serum antioxidant status of beef cattle. Inclusion of CHM-A and CHM-B in the diet may be favourable for ruminant production.

文摘The effects of exogenous nitric oxide (NO) on plant growth, chlorophyll contents, photosynthetic and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters as well as lipid peroxidation and activities of antioxidant enzymes were investigated in Chinese cabbage plants exposed to iron (Fe) deficiency. Iron deficiency led to serious chlorosis in Chinese cabbage leaves, and resulted in significant decrease in plant growth, photosynthetic pigments, net photosynthetic rate, Fv/Fm, Ф ps Ⅱ and activities of antioxidant enzymes, and increase in lipid peroxidation. While treatment with SNP, a NO donor, it could revert the iron deficiency symptoms, increased photosynthetic rate as well as activities of antioxidant enzymes, and protected membrane from lipid peroxidation, as a result, the growth inhibition of Chinese cabbage by Fe deficiency was alleviated.

文摘Background:Vine tea from fermented Ampelopsis grossedentata leaves has been used as a herbal tea and folk medicine in the southern region of China for hundreds of years. The aim of this investigation was to analyze the total flavonoids found in vine tea, including three bioactive flavonoids, and the total phenolic contents in the aqueous methanol extracts of 10 vine tea samples. In addition, this study also aimed to examine the antioxidant activity of dihydromyricetin and vine tea’s flavonoid-rich extract. Methods:The total flavonoids and total phenolic content assay of extracts from vine tea were performed by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and epoch microplate spectrophotometer, respectively.Three bioactive flavonoids were quantified simultaneously using high performance liquid chromatography. The antioxidant activity of dihydromyricetin and vine tea’s flavonoid-rich extract was evaluated in vitro using six different methods. Results:Vine tea contained a large number of flavonoids, with dihydromyricetin as its main constituent. The flavonoid-rich extract exhibited a significant scavenging effect on superoxide anion radicals, and on 3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radicals. It also possessed definite activity in lipid peroxidation inhibition, ferric reduction, and the moderation of Fe2+ion chelation ability. There was a significant negative correlation between dihydromyricetin content and antioxidant activity in the vine tea samples, including superoxide anion radical scavenging activity(P=−0.754,P<0.05),lipid peroxidation inhibition activity(P=−0.759,P<0.05),ferric-reducing antioxidant power(P=−0.843,P<0.01),respectively.Dihydromyricetin played a dominant role in the antioxidant activities of the flavonoid-rich extract. Conclusion:Vine tea’s flavonoid-rich extract could be used as a new antioxidant source to safeguard against oxidative stress.
文摘Extracts of 40 green, black or oolong high quality tea samples from China, Japan or India among others, have been prepared according to the manufacturer instructions and assayed for total polyphenols content using the Folin-Ciocalteu phenol reagent. In general, the richest samples belong to green teas and the poorest samples belong to the black teas.

文摘The current work explores the potential use of commercial Chinese bayberry tannin(BT)to develop antioxidant PVA-based films using solvent casting process for packaging applications. The effect of BT concentration on opa-city,water resistance and antioxidant capacity of resulting films was investigated.Properties like tensile strength, thermal behavior, and morphological aspects were also characterized. The experimental results showed that PVA/BT films formed with uniformly brown color and generally good transparency, offering good antioxidant ability. The PVA film containing BT presented slightly higher water resistance according to the results of moisture content and water vapor permeability, especially at low BT content(<10 wt%).The PVA can be compounded with up to 10 wt%BT without any obvious deterioration in the tensile strength. The PVA/BT films exhibited better thermal degradation behavior compared with PVA alone because of the chemical bonds of PVA-BT and the for-mation of char at high temperature.Based on the results,PVA incorporated with Chinese bayberry tannin may provide broader formulation options for packaging materials with antioxidant action.
