On Answering the Question Related to the Legal Regulation of Working Hours in the New Era:Western Experience and Chinese Approach

The popularity of flexible working hours around the world has slowed down the historical trend of reducing working hours.It even shows signs of regression.Whether and how to guide the cur-rent society with flexible working hours to return to the historical track of reducing working hours,improve the quality of working hours,and promote a smooth transition from the era of traditional standard work-ing hours to the era of flexible working hours has become a question related to the legal regulation of working hours in the new era.In this regard,although Western countries have proposed new regulatory concepts and carried out legislative practices with distinctive charac-teristics,the limitations of legal regulation capabilities have prevented them from proposing a package of institutional solutions.The advan-tage of China in the ability of legal regulation of working hours has been gradually formed in the legislation on working hours unnder the leadership of the CPC in the past century.It enables China to break through the limitations of the West and propose a Chinese approach to answer the question of the legal regulation of working hours in the new era from three aspects:limiting the extension of working hours,improving the quality of flexible working hours,and optimizing the funnctions of the multi-funnctional regulatory system for working hours.

Intercultural Trust in Global Contexts:Synthesizing a Western Nomological Approach with a Chinese Systems Approach

Intercultural trust in global contexts plays a central role in helping people from different cultures to communicate comfortably,which is essential for cooperation.Attempting to construct a framework that might foster international cooperation,and thus be helpful for coping with global emergencies,we relate a Western nomological approach to an Eastern systems approach to analyse intercultural trust in global contexts.Considering cultural impacts on intercultural trust and the nomological framework of cultural differences,we propose an intercultural trust model to interpret how cultural differences influence trust.A qualitative study of Chinese-Irish interactions was conducted to interpret this model.We organized 10 seminars on intercultural trust,and interviewed 16 people to further explore the respondents'deeper feelings and experiences about intercultural trust in global contexts.Through this study,we have identified factors impacting on intercultural trust,and found that intercultural trust can be developed and improved in various ways.To llustrate these ways,we have provided tactics and methods for building intercultural trust in global contexts.Implications are highlighted for organizations to avoid cultural clashes and relevant political or economic risks.

General Survey of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine Researches on Tumor Metastasis

Metastasis and recurrence of tumors is the chief cause of death for such patients. Therefore, researches on the mechanism of its metastasis, prevention and treatment are the focal points in the field of traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） and Western medicine （WM） at present. WM practitioners＂ study on tumor metastasis involved its occurrence and development including every detail and process, and now it even has developed into the molecular biological field. py is used as the main means, but the efficacy is not n treatment surgical operation and radio- chemotheratoo optimistic. In recent years, TOM, as part of the comprehensive therapy, has been gradually gaining attention of oncologists. Aimed at solving the difficult problems in metastasis of tumor, many TOM practitioners on the basis of syndrome differentiation have raised theories about the cause of tumor metastasis. On the basis of these theories, some TOM recipes against tumor metastasis have been developed to serve as an effective supplement to surgical operation, radio- and chemotherapy. The present article summarizes research results in recent years about the cause of formation of tumor and its metastasis by TOM and WM, so as to offer some theoretical clues to the study of tumors metastasis.

Research on predicting prosodic parameters for Chinese synthesis by data mining approach

Prosodic control is an important part of speech synthesis system. Prosodic parameters choice right or wrong influences the quality of synthetic speech directly. At present, text to speech system has less effective describe to reflect data relationships in the corpus. A new research approach - data mining technology to discover those relationships by association rules modeling is presented. And a new algorithm for generating association rules of prosodic parameters including pitch parameters and duration parameters from corpus is developed. The output rules improve the correctness of syllable choice in text to speech system.

A forced alignment approach to detect Chinese repetitive stuttering

A forced alignment based algorithms to detect Chinese repetitive stuttering is studied. According to the features of repetitions in Chinese stuttered speech,improvement solutions are provided based on the previous research findings.First,a multi-span looping forced alignment decoding networks is designed to detect multi-syllable repetitions in Chinese stuttered speech.Second,branch penalty factor is added in the networks to adjust decoding trend using recursive search in order to reduce the error from the complexity of the decoding networks. Finally,we re-judge the detected stutters by calculating confidence to improve the reliability of the detection result.The experimental results show that compared to previous algorithm,the proposed algorithm can improve system performance significantly,about 18%average detection error rate relatively.

INTEGRATION OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE WRITING AND PROCESS WRITING APPROACHES IN TEACHING EFL WRITING

This paper adopts a pedagogical approach to theteaching of English writing to EFL learners of interme-diate or advanced level in China.The teaching ofwriting has been a problem to Chinese EFL teachers fora long time.On the one hand,they want to make anattempt to adopt fashionable and effective Englishwriting approaches,like process writing.On the otherhand,they are frustrated by the traditional Chinesewriting method.Some of our language educators arealways struggling against the influence of our tradi-tional Chinese writing method.A negative attitudetowards our mother tongue writing approach has beenestablished or accepted by most of our EFL teachers,which result in the EFL learners’panic in their Eng-lish writing course because they are afraid of being ac-cused of writing a Chinese composition in Englishwords.Needless to say,this kind of teaching stylecannot be effective and is frustrating instead.The au-thor presents an integrated and practical solution tothis problem and discusses the applicability of the ap-proach.The author discusses how we can effectivelyintegrate the traditional Chinese writing method andthe popular process writing approach in teaching Eng-lish writing.

China’s Traditional Chinese Medicine-Style(TCM)Governance in Participation in the Middle Eastern Issues:Theories,Practices and Prospects

The concepts of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)are rooted in the profound traditional Chinese culture and philosophy.There is an old Chinese saying that‘outstanding doctors can be masterful enough to govern a country.’This means some concepts of TCM is compatible with the ones of governing political systems.At first,on the basis of the concepts of TCM treatment,this study puts forward a theoretical framework of TCM-based governance for China to participation in Middle Eastern issues.If we compare the Middle East to a human body with different systems and levels of organisations,its problems are its‘illnesses,’so to cure them and achieve the ultimate balance,as TCM focuses on,it is necessary to fundamentally improve the inner and outer political and economic environments of the Middle East,and its own‘immune system.’Secondly,the study will combine the concept of‘holistic view’with China’s participation in the governance of Middle Eastern issues before to prove the feasibility of the governance methods based on the TCM concepts.Furthermore,this study,to analyse the key factors of current conflicts in the region,‘takes pulses’to find out the root cause of those issues,and‘prescribe Chinese medicine’for different cases.It is our hope to promote the governance methods with Chinese wisdom.
