After the rapid large-scale but rough development in China since 1978,environmental issues occurred at the same time.As a result,China started to pay attention to environmental protection and try to seek a way of deco...After the rapid large-scale but rough development in China since 1978,environmental issues occurred at the same time.As a result,China started to pay attention to environmental protection and try to seek a way of decoupling economic growth and the environment.Eco-city is regarded as a solution widely supported by the central government.After learning from international experience,China has explored a distinctive way to develop eco-cities within the specific Chinese context.This paper aims to evaluate the development of Chinese eco-cities.Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city is taken as a case study to analyze based on daily lifestyle of its residents.A total of 22 interviews,and three days of potential observations were collected in this study as a database.Summative content analysis is applied with 15 keywords and three categories.Policy suggestions are provided at the end aiming to overcome the current existing weakness.展开更多

In Chinese EFL context,reading course is considered as the most important way to acquire linguistic skills compared with other skills such as listening,speaking and writing.In university,the students whose majors are ...In Chinese EFL context,reading course is considered as the most important way to acquire linguistic skills compared with other skills such as listening,speaking and writing.In university,the students whose majors are non-English need to take part in CET 4(College English Test Band 4)which is closely relevant to bachelor degree or a promising prospect if they are able to pass the test with a high score.Therefore,a large amount of time is devoted to reading by English learners,while what most of the teachers tend to do is focusing on drills of grammatical rules,sentence analyzing and word memorization,neglecting the part that the students actually have to apply in the real context.It should be noted that reading plays a vital role in the daily life,such as"to get information,to respond to curiosity about a topic,to follow instructions,to perform a task,for pleasure,amusement,and personal enjoyment;to keep in touch with friends and colleagues;to know what is happening in the world;and to find out when and where things are"Rivers&Temperley(1978:187).Additionally,readers can get enjoyment through reading,which can be embodied in various aspects such as reading stories,novels,or poems and so on.However,to some extent,reading has become a way to gain knowledge or pass examination for EFL learners.The common reading problems of the students in my context will be identified in this essay.Meanwhile,it is generally believed that most of the students have no motivation at all in terms of reading.How can reading be taught efficiently and effectively?Considering the features of the students in Chinese university context,what kind of approaches should be the most suitable?展开更多

Data an...This study develops and tests a full mediation model that examines the mediating role of job satisfaction in the Chinese context, based on a survey of 424 employees in three small and medium sized enterprises. Data analysis shows a good fit with the full mediation and all four classes of antecedents (i.e., perceived organizational support, procedural, distributive, and interactional justice). Particularly, procedural justice contributes to the prediction of satisfaction. Job satisfaction is also shown to mediate most antecedent- consequence relationships, except the two between perceived organizational support (POS)--turnover and procedural justice--consequences. Furthermore, there are only four direct links, including POS to citizenship behaviors directed at individuals, distributive justice to turnover intention, interactional justice to citizenship behaviors directed at organizations and turnover. These direct links suggest that job satisfaction does not fully mediate the relationships.展开更多
