Methods: The Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Self-Evaluation Scale(TCM-50) was developed by verification of dimensions, formation of item pool, verification of scoring methodology, and pilot test of scale and item analysis. Results: TCM-50 composed of 50 items that could be classified into 4 dimensions including physiology and health, psychology and health, nature and health, and society and health. An examination of reliability and validity of TCM-50 yielded Cronbach's α coefficient of 0.927, and half coefficient of r was 0.876. The intraclass correlation coefficient of total score was 0.912. After using SF-36 questionnaire to evaluate the criterion validity, the Pearson r of the score of the two scales from the same participant was 0.740. Conclusions: TCM-50 has good reliability and validity, and can yield similar levels of efficacy as SF-36 in terms of evaluating people's overall health level. As a scale based on CM theory, TCM-50 is suitable for self-measuring the general health of Chinese patients.展开更多

Methods: Patients were individually randomized into intervention group(receiving integrative education, n=120) and control group(receiving usual education, n=120). The primary outcome was the changes in glycosylated hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) levels after 3, 6, 9 and 12 months from baseline. Hierarchical linear models(HLMs) were used to assess within-group changes in outcomes over time and between-group differences in patterns of change. Secondary outcomes were KAP scores, HRQo L scores and BMI after 6 and 12 months, paired-sample t test was used to assess within-group changes in outcomes in 6 and 12 months, independent-sample t test was used to assess between-group differences in patterns of change. Results: HbA1c decreased statistically from baseline to 3 months, from 3 to 6 months, from 6 to 9 months and from 9 to 12 months in the intervention group(all P〈0.01); and decreased significantly from baseline to 3 months, and from 3 to 6 months in the control group(P〈0.01). There were significant between-group differences from baseline to 3 months(P=0.044), from 6 to 9 months(P〈0.01) and from 9 to 12 months(P〈0.01). Significant improvements in the intervention group along with significant between-group differences were found in KAP and HRQo L scores respectively(all P〈0.05). The number in the intervention group of normal weight increased from 56 at baseline to 81(6 months), 94(12 months), the number in the control group were 63(baseline), 69(6 months), 70(12 months), the χ~2 of hierarchical analysis of BMI were 6.93(P=0.075), 10.31(P=0.016), 15.53(P〈0.01), respectively. Conclusion: Health education based on integrative therapy of Chinese and Western medicine is beneficial to the control of T2DM and should be recommended for T2DM.展开更多

Firstly, the balance of redox state is the basis of homeostasis, and the balance ability of redox can reflect health state of human body. Secondly, the redox state of human body is a sensitive index of multiple risk factors of health such as age, external environment and psychological factors. It participates in the occurrence and development of multiple diseases involving metabolic diseases and nervous system diseases, and can serve as a cut-in point for treatment of these diseases. Detecting the redox state of high risk people is significantly important for early detection and treatment of disease. The blood plasma and urine could be selected to detect, which is convenient. It is pointed that the indexes not only involve oxidation product and antioxidant enzyme but also redox couple. Chinese medicine constitution reflects the state of body itself and the ability of adapting to external environment, which is consistent with the connotation of health. It is found that there are nine basic types of constitution in Chinese population, which provides a theoretical basis of health preservation, preventive treatment of disease and personalized treatment. With the combination of redox state detection and the Chinese medicine constitution theory, the heath state can be systemically assessed by conducting large-scale epidemiological survey with classified detection on redox state of human body.展开更多
