The result shows： （1） ＂Chinese Cultural Aphasia＂ phenomenon does exist in Senior High English teaching, and students＇ ability of expressing Chinese culture in English is worse than expected. （2） The reasons that are responsible for the phenomenon are in the following： Both students and teachers lack Chinese cultural consciousness, including that teachers＇ teaching idea is not correct and teaching method is single. What＇s more, in textbooks the proportion of Chinese culture content is too little. Accordingly, some proposals are put forward to solve the problem： （1） Students should pay attention to English expressions of Chinese culture. （2） Teachers should develop double culture ability, change attitude to English teaching, change the teaching method, use the textbooks neatly, increase the check of expressions related to Chinese culture. （3） Increase the proportion of Chinese culture in the textbooks展开更多
With the release of English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School,the cultivation of students’key competencies of English subject has become the major concern of many English teachers in senior high schools.As ...With the release of English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School,the cultivation of students’key competencies of English subject has become the major concern of many English teachers in senior high schools.As an important part of English teaching,reading teaching is supposed to take the responsibility of helping students form key competencies.In this study,the current situation of English reading teaching in senior high schools is investigated to find out whether English teachers fully and efficiently carry out the cultivation of key competencies of English subject in practical teaching.Data from questionnaires and interviews of teachers indicate practical problems exist in cultivating students’key competencies in English subject in senior high school,so teachers need to have a further understanding of them and take more innovative activities to help students develop their language competence,cultural disposition,thinking quality and learning ability.展开更多

Hence in order to gain a better understanding of the issue in Chinese senior high school context, the present research seeks to examine teachers' and students' attitudes and beliefs with respect to their perceived functions and effects in incorporating L1 in classrooms. In accordance with previous literature, The research indicated positive role of L1, especially in enhancing students' understanding of difficult concepts and creating comfortable learning environment. In addition, it is notable that, in difference from other studies, the National College Entrance Examination has exercised considerable influence on the perceptions of participants.展开更多
