THE traditional Chongyanag Festival-also known as the Festival of the Elderly-falls on the ninth day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar.Legend has it that during the Eastern Han Dynasty(25-220),there was a Taoist named Huanjing,whose hometown,Shangcai,now a county in north China’s Henan Province,was ravaged by plague and people were living in miserable conditions.On the ninth day of the ninth lunar month,Huanjing brought dogwood twigs and chrysanthemum liquor back home to relieve his hometown of its suffering.

Can PC-9 Zhong chong replace K-1 Yong quan for the acupunctural resuscitation of a bilateral double-amputee? Stating the “random criterion problem” in its statistical analysis

AIM: To present an inclusion criterion for patients who have suffered bilateral amputation in order to be treated with the supplementary resuscitation treatment which is hereby proposed by the author.METHODS: This work is based on a Retrospective Cohort model so that a certainly lethal risk to the control group is avoided.RESULTS: This paper presents a hypothesis on acupunctural PC-9 Zhong chong point, further supported by previous statistical work recorded for the K-1 Yong quan resuscitation point.CONCLUSION: Thanks to the application of the resuscitation maneuver herein proposed on the previously mentioned point, patients with bilateral amputation would have another alternative treatment available in case basic and advanced CPR should fail.

Plasma pharmacological study on Da Huang Zhe Chong capsule on platelet aggregation of normal person

Objective To develop a plasma pharmacological method evaluates the effect of Da Huang Zhe Chong capsule on platelet aggregation and its mechanism, which is a representative Traditional Chinese Medicine Patent Prescription Promoting blood circulation by removing blood stasis. Methods Platelets specimens from healthy volunteers made serum and plasma with medicine, while platelet PRP were separated, which were divided into 8groups,i.e. auto-serum, allo-serum, serum with Da Huang Zhe Chong capsule , serum with aspirin, auto-plasma, plasma with Da Huang Zhe Chong capsule, plasma with aspirin, every group added to serum and plasma to hatch. After ADP and adrenalin were added into the specimens and hatched, the effects of specimens on platelet aggregation were observed. Results After ADP adrenalin were added, all the serum groups did not present platelet aggregation,while all the plasma group presented platelet aggregation. P1, P5, Pmax, t and TM have no significant difference (P＞0. 05) between auto-plasma group and allo-plasma group induced by ADP and adrenalin. P1, P5, t and Pmax have significant differences (P＜0. 01) and TM decreased significantly (P＜0. 05) comparing plasma group with Da Huang Zhe Chong capsule and plasma group of aspirin to allo-plasma group. P1, t and Pmax have significant difference (P＜0.05), and P5 and TM are simulate comparing plasma group with Da Huang Zhe Chong capsule to plasma group of aspirin. P1, P5, t and Pmax have significant differences (P＜0. 01), P1, TM have also significant(P＜0. 05), comparing plasma group of Da Huang Zhe Chong capsule with plasma of aspirin to allo-plasma group induced by adrenalin. P1 ,P5 and Pmax have significant differences (P＜0.05), and t and Pmax are simulate comparing plasma group with Da Huang Zhe Chong capsule with plasma group of aspirin. Conclusion The serum pharmacological study is inappropriate to study platelet aggregation in vitro. The plasma pharmacological study is inappropriate to study platelet aggregation in vitro. The plasma pharmacological study could reflect the pharmacological effect produced in vivo. Da Huang Zhe Chong capsule has better anti artery thrombosis effect than aspirin, and it is an ideal medicine for anti artery thrombosis.

ONE HUNDRED CASES OF CHRONIC PELVIC INFLAMMATION TREATED WITH ACUPOINTS OF CHONG AND REN CHANNELS

The auther has treated 100 cases of chronic pelvic inflammation with needling the acupoints of Chong and Ren channels since 1996. Of them, 44 % cases were cured, 33 % markedly effective and 20 % improved. The total effective rate was 97%. Acupoints of Ren channel selected: Zhongji (CV 3), Guanyuan(CV 4), Qihai(CV 6) and Yinjiao(CV 7); Crossing acupoints of Chong channel selected: Qixue(KI l3), Siman(KI 14) and Zhongzhu(KI 15). Filiform needles of No. 30, 1. 5 cun were adopted to puncture the above acupoints with the uniform reinforcing-reducing method, and the needles were retained for 30 minutes. At the same time, the moxibustion was applied to the place of retaining needles until the skin flushed.

Six forests in one:Tree species diversity in the Bosque Protector Chongón Colonche,a lowland mountain range in coastal Ecuadorian

Tropical mountain ranges shape the structure of tree communities and promote highly diverse natural habitats.The“Bosque Protector Chong on-Colonche”(BPCC),an 86,000-ha mountain formation situated on the coast of Ecuador,is biogeographically important for the region by connecting floristic elements of the wet Choco and the dry Tumbesian forests.Our understanding of the factors that model tree and palm diversity and distribution in this mountain range are limited.We measured and identified all trees and palms(DBH≥10 cm)in 289 plots of0.2 ha,distributed throughout BPCC.We used generalized linear models to explain the relationship between forest diversity and structure and climatic variables(temperature,rain,aridity),and altitude.We then used cluster and non-metric multidimensional scale(NMDS)analyses to search for distinct forest communities within the BPCC.Variance partition(varpart)was used to determine which predictor variables best explained these distinct forest communities.A species indicator analysis identified the species most likely to define these distinct forest communities.Finally,we carried out a niche modeling approach to identify the potential distribution of these forest communities within BPCC.In total,we identified 220 tree and palm species in our survey.The average number of species per plot was 17.8±5.8,ranging from 3 to 40 species.Classification methods sorted the 289study plots into six different forest communities,three communities in the dry forest and three in the semi-humid Garúa forest.Precipitation and temperature,but not altitude or aridity,explained floristic composition.These results emphasize the high but little cataloged diversity in the lowland mountain rainforests of coastal Ecuador.

Chong-Chet Anterior Scoring Technique for the Correction of Prominent Ears: Results in 30 Patients

A lot ofotoplasty techniques have been developed during the past years. However, there is no single perfect technique which is worldwide accepted. We present our assessment of a Chong-Chet anterior scoring technique for the correction of prominent ears which we applied in 30 patients between 2005 and 2010. This study is a report of creating a natural fold of cartilage using Chong-Chet anterior scoring technique by cartilage incision at the border between the antihelix and scapha, with medial scoring of the scapha and lateral scoring of the antihelix. Sutures were used to maintain the created fold. There were no major complications at the 1-year follow-up evaluation. None of the patients developed a recurrence, or retro protrusion of the helix which required a second operation for correction. The procedure is a simple surgical technique. The reconstructed ear shows reliable results in stability, size and normal convolutions. Furthermore, sharp cartilaginous ridges and hidden helix are avoided.
