Promoting sustainable consumption and circular economy:the intention of Vietnamese youth consumers to purchase products made from recycled plastics

Recycling is viewed as a key component in a circular economy and serves as an ideal solution for promoting sustainability.During the global plastic crisis,plastic recycling practices have been adopted worldwide,leading to the production of various products made from recycled plastics(PRP).Nevertheless,a gap persists between consumption and demand for such products,which is primarily attributed to a lack of comprehension from the consumer perspective.Given the pivotal role consumers play in the adoption of these products,this study explores consumers’intentions to purchase PRP.This is particularly significant in Vietnam,which is an emerging economy aspiring to achieve the objectives of a circular economy and sustainable development.Utilizing an integrated cognitive-emotional framework comprising the Valence Theory and the Norm Activation Model,data from 564 Vietnamese students were gathered and analyzed using structural equation modeling.The results show that awareness of consequences is a major driver of consumer purchase intentions,followed by perceived ease of application and monetary incentives.The results also indicate that health concerns have the strongest effect on purchase intention and in the negative side,meaning that the health-related risk is the primary concern for consumers during the decision-making process.This research holds substantial value for academics and managers,as it aids in the theoretical exploration and the formulation of strategies to improve consumer acceptance of PRP.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF MARINE ECONOMY IN CHINA

China is a large marine country. Developing marine economy is an effective way to solve a series of problems with which man is faced, such as the want of natural resources, space limitation, the environmental deterioration, etc. This article analyzes the rich resources of marine biology, harbor, offshore oil and natural gas and coastal tourism resources in China and describes the developing features and regional differences of marine economy. To realize the sustainable development of marine economy in China, what we need to do are as follows: 1) to list exploiting ocean into national development strategy; 2) to realize integrated economy of sea and land; 3) to develop ocean by science and technology; 4) to perfect legal institution of marine environment: 5) to establish new idea of sea defending. Strategic Green Supply Chain Based on Circular Economy——A New View for Sustainable Manufacturing in China

Due to recent changing environmental requirements affecting manufacturing operations,increasing attention is given to developing environmental management strategies for the supply chain. This paper discusses the strategies of green supply chain based on the concept of circular economy which was promoted in China as a new development strategy to alleviate the shortage of resource supply by improving the resource productivity and eco-efficiency of production and consumption,which will accelerate the economic transformation from the traditional supply chain to the green supply chain.

Waste Recovery and Sustainable Development. A Case Study of Material Development from Used Tires in Africa

This paper outlines a mechanical transformation process for rubber recycling, demonstrating the development of a new material from used tires. With the crumbs obtained using a crusher-compactor, a novel material for the manufacture of O-rings has been developed, with properties close to those found on the market. The process includes an experimental methodology of a sulfur vulcanization system choice and the quantification of ingredients, as well as the experimental determination of cure parameters. Mechanical tests on the samples completed the work by providing the mechanical characteristics of both unaged and aged (thermo-oxidative ageing) novel material. This process has a high potential for sustainable development and industrialization, making it a valuable contribution to the recycling of rubber in African developing countries.

Strategies for Adoption of Circular Economy in the Nigeria Construction Industry

The concept of circular economy has gained recognition as a way to manage waste and conserve resources sustainably,and has the potential to transform the construction industry.This is particularly relevant in the construction industry due to the significant amounts of waste generated during the construction and demolition process.This study examines the perceived importance and effectiveness of strategies related to the circular economy in the construction industry.The data were collected through a survey administered to professionals in the construction sector,capturing their perceptions of various strategies.The results reveal that most strategies received high mean ratings,indicating their perceived significance.Strategies such as waste management and recycling facilities,design for disassembly,and prioritising the use of renewable and sustainable materials were highly valued by the respondents.Additionally,statistical analyses confirmed the significance of these strategies.However,some strategies received comparatively lower ratings,suggesting the need for further attention and improvement.The findings have important implications for policymakers,industry professionals,and stakeholders,guiding decision-making and resource allocation.By prioritising and implementing the identified strategies,stakeholders can drive the adoption of circular economy principles,enhance resource efficiency,and reduce waste in construction practices.Furthermore,this study lays the foundation for future research,highlighting the importance of exploring barriers to implementation,understanding synergies and trade-offs among strategies,conducting longitudinal studies to assess long-term impact,and broadening the participant pool for a more comprehensive understanding.Overall,this study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the circular economy in the construction industry and provides valuable insights for promoting sustainability and circularity within the sector.

The Essence of a Recycling Economy:Circular Utilization of Resources

By analyzing the relationship between a recycling economy and sustainable development theory, this article puts forward the basic concept of a recycling economy as a dynamic economic operational model, and explains the four basic characteristics. It is stressed that the essential element of a recycling economy is the use of resources circularly. In the end, this article analyzes the phenomena of utilizing the recycling economy concept incorrectly, and sets forth a number of problems that should be noted during the process of developing a recycling economy in China.

Reviewing evolution of natural resources utilization mode in different economic formation, the paper elaborates the meanings of knowledge economy, and points our that the cause of unsustainabte development is the acute contradiction between the taw of ecosystem and the law of economy. The essence of sustainable development and the sustainable characteristics of knowledge economy that were discussed above determine that knowledge economy is an economy of sustainable development.

High speed railway promoting development of low-carbon economy in China

Low-carbon Economy is a kind of economic developing mode which takes low energy consumption,low pollution and low discharge as its foundation. It is another important revolution of the human society after the agriculture civilization and industry civilization. It deals with various fields including low-carbon energy,low-carbon agriculture,low-carbon industry,low-carbon transportation and low-carbon life,etc. Among those,low-carbon transportation is one of the important contents. Since high speed railway uses electricity as driving force,it runs without discharging waste gas,and it is a kind of clean and green transportation with little dust and smoke black. Therefore,the study of the relationship between the high speed railway and low-carbon economy is becoming one of the important frontier problems that confronting the theoretic circle. With demonstration analysis and comparative analysis,this paper discusses the comparative advantages of high speed railway in terms of energy saving and environment protection,treatment of sound pollution,land saving and reduction of external cost(mainly pollution treatment cost) ,etc. compared with the other transportation modes and ordinary railway. Taking Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway as an example,the paper further demonstrates the distinctive advantages in respect of energy conservation and emission reduction. Besides,the paper also predicates the low-carbon effects after several high speed railways is put into operation in a few years. It is concluded that the development of high speed railways will meet the need of low-carbon economy and is significant for sustainable and steady development of economy and society.

A Study of the Industrial Circular Economy Using an Essence Analysis Model

The concept of a circular economy can be applied to different business fields.The development of the existing industrial cycles with an overemphasis on economic development and the twisting concept of a circular economy,has limited any substantial contribution of the circular economy to environmental resources.In some cases,resources are even being consumed to create resource recycling.This puts a greater burden on the environment.To gain an understanding of the actual value of a circular economy to the environment and resources,an“Essence Analysis Model”has been used in this study.This combines sustainable development issues in a multi-faceted and multi-leveled analysis of the industrial circular economy model to guide its development more directly towards fundamentals.An analysis of the results of the“Essence Analysis Model”was used to find and change the original strategy,and develop a means of improving the circular economy model.The results of the study make an essential contribution to the sustainable development of environmental resources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emission.

Overview of Theory and Model of Tropical Agricultural Circular Economy in Hainan Province

This paper gives a general overview of rationale of tropical agricultural circular economy.On the basis of ecological economic theory,circular economy is a new model of economic development which aims at realizing reducing of resources use,reuse of products and recycling of wastes,conforming to the principle of 4R.It is to make economic system melt into the process of cycle of material of natural ecological system harmoniously.This paper introduces the advantages of developing tropical agriculture in Hainan Province,the main problems existing in the development and two main models of sustainable tropical agricultural development in Hainan Province at present.9 typical models of tropical agricultural circular economy in Hainan Province are listed in particular,including compound ecological project of forestry and animal husbandry,three-dimensional planting model of plantation,multilayered structure of eucalyptuses,sustainable agricultural model of sightseeing,the model of using animal manure,precision tropical agricultural model,clean production model of tropical agriculture,deep processing model of tropical agricultural products,and the model of ecological agricultural industrialization.Corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are put forward to promote development of tropical agricultural circular economy in Hainan Province as follows:take actions that suit local circumstances,exert advantage and exploit potential;give full play to advantage of integration of production,teaching and research,and promote agriculture by applying scientific and technological advances;the whole staff participate and strengthen construction of soft environment and hard environment.

Study of Chinese Sustainable Developing Project for Energy Resources

In the energy field of the globe,as the fuel with superior quality,the petroleum and gas gradually replaced the coal of the leading role in energy resources’ consumption,after the mineral energy replaced firewood.Moreover,various types of new energy are beginning to get application。

How Has the Wine Sector Incorporated the Premises of Circular Economy?

Much has been done in the wine production sector to promote sustainable development.Given its relevance in the economy and in society,it is fundamental to align its activities with the optimal use of resources and the regeneration and restoration of the natural system in agreement with the premises set by the Circular Economy(CE).The main interest of this work was,through a systematic literature review,to identify in the revised studies how the wine sector has incorporated the premises of CE in its activities.Six topics define the concerns addressed:water,solid waste,energy,chemical use,land use and ecosystems,in different parts of the chain:viticulture,winemaking and distribution.From the evaluation of 41 selected empirical studies,no clear definition regarding CE was found;however,the detailed analysis reveals aspects which incorporate CE practices such as the reduction of waste disposal by its treatment and recovery,the best use of resources at all stages of the process chain and the need to rethink and redesign current practices.The specific subjects identified were waste recovery,alternative energy sources such as biofuels production and water quality improvement.Land use,ecosystem impacts,and use of agrochemicals were not considered.

Construction of New Value Chain Management and Various BOMs for Research Project of SDGs Food Loss Reduction:Case Studies on Circular Economy Sweets Product Planning,Sales Event Holding,and Questionnaire Surveys

Regarding the social problem of food loss in Japan,about 10%-20%of agricultural products(e.g.vegetables and fruits)are seen as“non-standardized foods”or“surplus foods”by the Agricultural Cooperative Association.Those foods are then discarded.The Tamaki Laboratory of the School of Business,Aoyama Gakuin University is promoting the“SDGs Food Loss Regeneration Project”through industry and academic collaboration—as a research study—to solve this social problem.Therefore,the purpose of this research is the following three subjects:(1)Indicate the design of VCM(value chain management).VCM corresponds to the planning,manufacturing,and sales meetings of“SDGs Moist Vegetable Cake”,and the roles of stakeholders engaged in each area of VCM.(2)Design various BOMs(bill of materials)corresponding to the VCM.Describe how to use BOM and the significance of using each BOM in cooperation.(3)In order to verify the effectiveness of the“SDGs Food Loss Regeneration Project”with“SDGs Moist Vegetable Cake”,conduct and analyze questionnaire surveys and consider the results.

环境法指引下造纸企业经济可持续发展路径分析

造纸行业是重要的基础原材料产业,但也是环境污染与资源消耗大户。在日益严格的环境法规引领下,造纸企业只有坚持走可持续发展之路,才能在激烈的市场竞争中赢得生存和发展。基于此,在分析环境法对造纸企业污染防治、资源利用、生态保护等方面要求的基础上,剖析了造纸企业在环境法指引下面临的环保设施投入、技术改造、选址布局等经济可持续发展挑战,针对性地提出了加大环保投入实现绿色转型升级、强化资源综合利用构建循环经济模式、坚持生态优先实现企业发展与环境保护双赢等路径选择,以期为造纸企业在新形势下谋求长远发展提供决策参考。
