This disorder is caused by homogeneous or heterogeneous mutations affecting the function of the vitamin D receptor (VDR), which lead to complete or partial target organ resistance to the action of 1,25- dihydroxy vitamin D~ A non-consanguineous family of Chinese Han origin with one affected individual demonstrating HVDRR was recruited, with the proband evaluated clinically, biochemically and radiographically. To identify the presence of mutations in the VDR gene, all the exons and exon-intron junctions of the VDR gene from all family members were amplified using PCR and sequenced. The proband showed rickets, progressive alopecia, hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, secondary hyperparathyroidism, and elevated alkaline phosphatase. She also suffered from epilepsy, which is rarely seen in patients with HVDRR. Direct sequencing analysis revealed a homozygous missense mutation c.122G 〉 A (p.C41Y) in the VDR gene of the proband, which is located in the first zinc finger of the DNA-binding domain. Both parents had a normal phenotype and were found to be heterozygous for this mutation. We report a Chinese Han family with one individual affected with HVDRR. A homozygous missense mutation c.122G 〉 A (p.C41Y) in the VDR gene was found to be responsible for the patient's syndrome. In contrast to the results of treatment of HVDRR in other patients, our patient responded well to a supplement of oral calcium and a low dose of calcitriol.展开更多

PLC is characterized by insidious onset, rapid progress, poor quality of life, and short survival time. Notably, current treatment strategies remain unsatisfactory. Traditional Chinese medicines(TCM) have been used to treat a variety of diseases, including liver diseases, for more than 2000 years. In this study, we performed a review of the use frequency and clinical efficacy of TCM in treating PLC. Relevant literature from January 1, 2009, to January 1, 2021 was retrieved from network databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI), Chongqing VIP, Wanfang, PubMed, and SinoMed. The most frequently used TCM and their efficacy in PLC treatment were summarized. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 33 articles were selected. Overall, the efficacy of the combination of TCM and Western medicines in the treatment of PLC was higher than that in the control groups(i.e. treatment with Western medicines alone)(65.11% vs.44.31%, P <.05). Among the 33 selected articles, 11 were investigated for TCM preparation(marketed drugs) and 22 for TCM formulas. In total, 102 types of TCM(single herbs) were used to treat PLC. The top five most frequently used TCM were Poria(14.71%), Astragali radix(13.73%), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma(12.75%), Bupleuri radix(12.75%), and Glycyrrhizae radix et Rhizoma(11.76%). Of the 102 types of TCM, tonics were the most frequently used categories, followed by heat-clearing medicines, blood-invigorating medicines, and stasis-resolving medicines. Of 207 papers, 174(84.06%) could not be subjected to statistical analysis due to research quality. Further high-quality research on herb sources, formula components and dosage, toxicology, and ethics of TCM is necessary. In conclusion, TCM play a promising role in the treatment and management of PLC, although further investigations are warranted.展开更多

In recent years, the incidence and mortality of esophageal cancer have increased year by year, which has seriously threatened human health. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, as the primary treatments of Western medicine, have achieved specific results in the clinic, but each has its limitations, this is mainly related to their side effects. The diversified treatment methods of traditional Chinese medicine have visible clinical effects, especially in terms of reducing toxicity and increasing efficiency. This present review reviews the research progress of esophageal cancer in terms of traditional Chinese medicine treatment, including the application of Chinese medicine extract, Chinese herbal compound, Chinese patent medicine and TCM external treatment in clinical practice, may provide valuable information for the adjuvant treatment of esophageal cancer with traditional Chinese medicine.展开更多

文摘Primary liver cancer(PLC) is one of the most common malignant tumors in China. In conclusion, TCM play a promising role in the treatment and management of PLC, although further investigations are warranted.

文摘Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of integrative Chinese and western medicine (ICWM) in treating severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) patients. Methods: Through parallel control design, 49 SARS patients were observed. Used as control, there were in the western medicine (WM) group 29 patients, who were treated with Ribavirin, Levofloxacin, Thymopentin, Azithromycin, methylprednisolone, etc. , on the basis of 'Recommended Protocol for Infectious Atypical Pneumonia' (abbreviated as 'Recommended Protocol') issueed by Ministry of Health. As the treated group, there were in the ICWM 20 cases. The protocol for treatment of SARS in 'Special Science and Technological Action to Prevent and Treat SARS' (abbreviated as 'Special S-T Action'), issued by Ministry of Science and Technology, together with the same WM as those for the control group. Results: (1) Time from the disease onset to the symptom improvement were 5.10±2. 83 days and 7. 62±2. 27 days in ICWM and WM group respectively, P<0.05; (2) As to corticosteroid (CS) amount and days before reducing dosage, 2 groups showed no significant difference, P>0. 05;(3) There was no significant difference in the time from disease onset to the body temperature normalization and the total amount of CS and the duration of using CS before reducing it to 80 mg between the ICWM group and the WM group; (4) The days and amounts for use CS after reducing between the ICWM group and the WM group were significantly different (P<0. 05). Conclusion: There were obvious advantages in ICWM to treat SARS, compared with that of WM alone, especially in improving the clinical symptoms, promoting the recovery of immune function, promoting the absorption of pulmonary inflammation and reducing the dosage and duration of CS treatment.

文摘to study the influence of Chinese medicines for promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis on fibrinogen(FIB)and D-dimer(DD)in plasma of patients with cerebral thrombosis. Method:73 inpatients with acute cerebral thrombosis were randomly divided into a control group of 34 cases and a treatment group of 39 cases. The content of FIB and DD in plasma was detected before treatment and on the 7th and 14th days after treatment.Result:FIB content in plasma after treatment was lower than that before treatment in the control group(P<0.01)and more remarkable in the treatment group(P<0.001).There was an obvious difference in DD content before and after treatment in both groups.DD content on the 7th and 14th days after treatment in the treatment group was obviously higher than that in the control group(P<0.01 and P<0.05 respectively). Conclusion:Chinese medicines for promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis can reduce the FIB content in plasma of patients with cerebral thrombosis, raise the DD content in plasma, cause the peak of DD content appear earlier and obviously improve hypercoagulability of blood in patients with cerebral thrombosis.
文摘Esophageal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the world. This present review reviews the research progress of esophageal cancer in terms of traditional Chinese medicine treatment, including the application of Chinese medicine extract, Chinese herbal compound, Chinese patent medicine and TCM external treatment in clinical practice, may provide valuable information for the adjuvant treatment of esophageal cancer with traditional Chinese medicine.
文摘IMMUNITY AND TUMOR Immune system has closely relation to the growth and development of tumor. One of its immune functions is to constantly recognize and kill malignant cells which develop from normal cells. The occurance of tumor indicates to some extent the failure of this "immune serveillance" function. Many studies have shown that the tumor cells of body have some tumor interrelative antigen that dose not exist in normal tissues. Tests in vitro
文摘Pancreatic cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality in both developed and developing coun-tries.The incidence of pancreatic cancer in China accounts for about a quater of the global incidence, and the epidemiological characteristics and therapeutic strategies differ due to social, economic, cultural, environmental, and public health factors.Non-domestic guidelines do not reflect the clinicopathologic characteristics and treat-ment patterns of Chinese patients. Thus,in 2018,the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO)organized a panel of senior experts from all sub-specialties within the field of pancreatic oncology to compile the Chinese guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer. The guidelines were made based on both the Western and Eastern clinical evidence and updated every one or two years. The experts made consensus judg-ments and classified evidence-based recommendations into various grades according to the regional differences, the accessibility of diagnostic and treatment resources, and health economic indexes in China. Here we present the latest version of the guidelines, which covers the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of pancreatic cancer. The guidelines might standardize the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer in China and will encourage oncologists to design and conduct more clinical trials about pancreatic cancer.
